GameStop says Super Street Fighter IV will go for $39.99 photo

I Play Winner spotted a listing on GameStop showing the potential price and release date for Super Street Fighter IV. It looks like we can expect the game to come out on March 23, 2010 for the low price of $39.99.

$39.99 was about what I was expecting Super Street Fighter IV to go for. It's not a bad price point if you ask me. You're getting everything from Street Fighter IV plus a ton of new stuff and fixes. What about you? Think this price is fair?

We've reached out to Capcom to get the official word on this and will let you know if the GameStop listing is indeed true.

[Thanks, clue!]

I was going to buy it even if it was $60, ::cue cartoon voice:: but I don't have to like it!

This should be $40 downloadable content!!!! lol, kidding.

$40 seems fair. But then i like street fighter and am old enough to know they could have put a speed boost in and charged $60. hehe.

That's what I expected. I want to know the other 5 characters and any new modes, but I'm fairly certain I'll buy it anyways.

I'm perfectly fine with the price.
But you know there's those three thousand plus people who'll complain about Capcom being evil and whoring us for their money.

That's reasonable. Considering all the spider babies that this relationship will produce.

I'll probably wait a few months after release then buy it... it'll probably be even cheaper then, and I have too many other games to play as it is.

More than fair. Now, will they release it as a downloadable add-on for SF4 or are they going to fill up the bargain bins and landfills of the world with the original?

I'll pick it up if I can bring my unlocked roster to a friend's house on a USB stick instead of having to haul my entire damn PS3 up there. That's why I never bought the original release.

All the characters are unlocked from the start Pedrovay, so you'll only need the disc =]

I still think it should be 20 dollar DLC, but my love of SF, especially 4, will force me to buy it.

If this is true then it's much, much cheaper than I expected it to be. While there’s no evidence for this, it’d be a shame if the cheaper release price meant that some of the rumoured mechanics changes had to be dropped in order to reduce production costs.

I’m still having great fun with Street Fighter IV, but I’d happily pay full whack for a comprehensive list of gameplay changes if they improved upon the experience in a way that justifies charging the price of a brand new game.

39.99 is pretty close for me. I'd actually prefer a download option for this content, abd make 30-35$

Eh, sure. I think it's a fair discount, considering how new the original still is. I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and wait for some Fightpad bundles, though.

Well I figured this would happen, which is why I didnt bother with the SFIV in the first place. Though looking at all the different iterations of SFII I dont think this will be the last edition. Im sure they have a Turbo version somewhere. This will do tho :-)

Sounds excellent as I had too much backlog to pick up the regular version of SFIV. I'll definitely grab this one. Here's to hoping Amazon sells this for ~35.00!

Instant buy for sure.

I don't understand people that think 8-10 new characters, new modes, new online features, new balancing and moves for all existing characters and most likely a lot MORE that we haven't heard yet isn't worth full game price.

This is adding more than most full fighting sequels do and it's already established that it's going to be AT LEAST very good since the last one was exactly so.

Or I suppose you can buy BlazBlue Charge/Ram-Strike++ZX when it comes out with only two new characters and not much else (which I probably will, but the point is, it's not giving you as much).

Frankly, this timing, pricing, and amount of content seems PERFECT to me. Every good tourny fighter should be getting once a year updates to stoke the fires of the scene and balance out the gameplay.

Elaborate. I've laid out my feelings on the matter in a fairly wordy manner in comments on the other articles, namely Topher's how to STFU guide. I'm not changing my viewpoint because I see a price tag. I think it's capable, and most suited to being $20 DLC, but that's not going to stop me from buying what looks to be an amazing new game in the SF series.

I'd rather have this on disk than DLC, even if it's more expensive on disk. Though it is funny watching people who have no clue what all changes are being made claim that it could all be done via DLC. They've revealed some stuff so far but I doubt that's the full extent of it.
