GameStop open at midnight for Splinter Cell: Conviction photo

As we all know it is the most important thing in the world to have a videogame first, and once you have that videogame it is even more important to play it before anyone else even if it is one or two in the morning and you have work the next day. These things matter, damn it. GameStop knows this so they are once again opening their doors at midnight, and this time it's for Splinter Cell: Conviction.

If picking the game up at midnight tickles your fancy then you'll probably want to pre-order it at GameStop as well since you can get a SPAS-12 when you do. That's in-game. They aren't giving out real guns. It's still pretty cool as you an see from this video.

Find out what GameStops will be opening near you at this convenient link.

I get to wait two extra weeks because I dare to love an unpopular platform.

It's okay though, I get the GTA4 episodes on Tuesday.

Still debating on whether or not to cancel my pre-order to put that money on Lost planet 2. I probably will cancel in the end anyway though.

@Flake:

According to the massive preorders and people asking about it at my Gamestop where I work everyday, yes they do.

Fail.

Splinter Cell has always been pretty abysmal, so I'm not expecting this to be any different.

Way to read read an honest question as an attempt at douchebaggery. I honestly didn't know since I haven't heard people talk about that series in years. Expecting the best out of folk today, aren't you?

The Vagrant's taste in video games has always been pretty abysmal, so I really wouldn't expect this to be any different...

Looking forward to this, despite my misgivings with some of the changes (no moving bodies FTL). Campaign may be short, but if the stages are mostly good quality I can overlook that. Most stealth games have only a few good sections, with 50% of the stages being crap anyway (kind of like MGS4 after Act 2).

I'm very surprised at this. Splinter Cell has been out of the limelight for 4 years. I guess it's good for the fans who want some more, but I'm still not sold on the game yet.

Shit, the store near me is opening at Midnight. I guess I should go for that sweet silenced shotgun. If Amazon had a better pre-order bonus I would get it there but their "Infiltration Mode" bonus gets unlocked later, or so I hear, with UbiPoints attained through playing the game(??? I dunno) which was first done with AssAssCreed2.

@Occams,Corduroy; Raven > Armor King. I WENT THERE!

I don't get why people are so excited about this. When I played the demo, all I could think was how this was absolutely nothing like Splinter Cell. That's what we get for having the Double Agent guys work on it, I suppose.

Double Agent felt too much like Splinter Cell and thus felt so fucking outdated design wise.

Conviction is quick, smooth and seamless. You're a badass stealth predator that fucks shit up. That's enough for me.

Sorry, Double Agent felt absolutely nothing like Splinter Cell. Hell, the light meter was literally reduced to a traffic light. If Double Agent had been more in line with the previous SC titles, it wouldn't have been as generally reviled by fans of the series as it was. Splinter Cell pretty much died with Chaos Theory.

I would consider buying it if Ubisoft didn't shaft the PC market with their DRM that only affects paying customers. I would never pay good money to put up with that crap.

Oh dang... paying $60 for a 4-5 hour campaign and multiple co-op modes with high replay values!!! FAIL!!!

Hmm... I think I will go watch a 3D movie tomorrow that only lasts maybe two hours and I don't get to keep the film afterward. Luckily I'll only pay $26 altogether after the ticket, drink, and popcorn... wait...

Logic. We must use it from time to time.

@Steel Squirrel I on the other hand will go to the local movie rental place and watch a vastly superior film to whatever 3D trash Hollywood is putting out these days for less than $3. Or, I could just download a movie for...free. Besides, that analogy just plain sucks and isn't comparable in any way but price.

Alright, online modes maaaaybe make it worth the price (no Spy vs Merc, :( )but saying higher difficulties increases the replay value is garbage. I tend to play all games on the highest difficulty from the get go because most games today are too easy. If you think about it, every game has infinite replay value because I can play it over and over and over and over...

"This is why MGS is the premier stealth action game and only for Sony systems. ^___^"

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes was released on the Nintendo Gamecube.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is in development for the PS3, Microsoft Windows and XBox 360.

If you must troll, troll with the facts.

all great games have a fart button
Gear Of War 1 or 2 has super short campaigns. Rainbow 6 and Halo have short campaigns. Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 have short solo campaigns.
But all those games with short campaigns have the same thing in common as this Splinter Cell.
Lots of multiplayer modes, both versus and co-op.
You don't like it, shut up and move on. Fans are excited.

Also there is a reason you haven't heard people talking about Splinter Cell for years. Uh, because it's been years.
Double Agent came out in early 2006.
And to anyone who claims Double Agent didn't "feel" like Splinter Cell, that's more a failing on you as a player than on the developers.
They built it for stealth. If you choose to run and gun through it, well, if you're playing it different than it was designed for, of course it'll be a weaker experience.
Some people like to hate just to hate.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes wasn't just a port. It took Metal Gear Solid's campaign and remade it with Metal Gear Solid 2's graphics and gameplay such as the dog tag shakedowns and first-person shooting. The voice acting was re-recorded and brand new cinematics were introduced.

It was an impressive update. It's a shame you feel you should dismiss it.

With Rising, I am going to wait and see and reserve judgement. Hideo Kojima is a fantastic talent and it's a shame he won't be working on Rising but that doesn't automatically make it an irrelevant game.

If you followed that world view then you would have to dismiss the Metroid Prime series because the original producer of Metroid, Gumpei Yokoi, didn't work on them. That would be a mistake.
