GameStop lists White Wii Classic Pro controller photo

My nonconformist ass imported the White Classic Controller Pro for more comfortable Wii gaming. It turns out that I could have waited a bit and got it for cheaper.

GameStop has a listing for the White version of this lovely controller, so that you may game in style when you play your Virtual Console titles and fighting games. They have a pre-order page up, with a ship date set for April 1st. No April Fools with the $19.99 price tag, either. The only fool was me for not waiting.

Is it just me, or is this your ideal controller. Analog sticks on an even level, solid hand feel, great buttons, killer d-pad. Why is this a secondary controller on a motion-based gaming system?

Of course, if you're getting Monster Hunter Tri, the black one is bundled with it.

I think the biggest reason I got the controller was because I thought it looked nice lol, because i haven't used it a whole lot :/

It is not my ideal controller. The octagonal socket design is something I'm never going to like.

So it's a Dualshock. It's about damn time Nintendo came around.

That controller looks like a chubby Japanese monster about to eat cake.

It should come with a face on it.

the main reason this controller sux, and all classic controller suck, is trying to sue them on Brawl.

When compared to a gamecube controller, the 4 buttons should be rotated clockwise.
the "a" button (light attack) should be the bottom button and "b" (strong attack) should be the left button...

I know they're trying to go off the old snes design, but somewhere along the way (gamecube or N64) things got screwed up.

Seems strange that they basically just went for the dualshock design instead of going with ANY semblance of their previous controllers.

The only thing I don't like about these controllers is the grooved analog openings.

It basically makes your analog stick "sticky" in one of 8 different directions, completely ignoring the point of analog input entirely.

I'm sticking with my pre-order for the black Classic Pro controller that comes with the Monster Hunter Tri Bundle. Besides, its a better deal.

I really like that they're redesigning the classic controller, however, this just looks uncomfortable. It looks too big, which is unfortunate for a system that's designed for people with small hands.

This just goes to prove that the Playstation controller design is superior to the Xbox controller design. Why the heck did Microsoft think that swapping the dpad and left analog positions was a good idea?
Playstation and Nintendo know what they are doing. Microsoft is crap. There, I said it.

@Verison: HAve you ever played with a 360 controller? I mean, if you have and you don't like it, that's your opinion. But many of my friends with PS3s said that they actually preferd the Xboxs' layout.

well, there was that thing called a gamecube, which had a controller that had the analog stick above the d-pad.

The D-pad is in the primary position because its for playing "Classic" games. Which is not how the standard-issue controller for a modern 3D console should be in my opinion.

I think I like the other Super-Nintendo-esque controller shape instead, but then again this one has the shoulder buttons next to each other.

The octagon shape for the analog stick has been present on all Nintendo controller all the way back to Nintendo 64.

I'm honestly like the original classic controller. I would prefer the Z buttons be on the back, but I don't need grips. It feels very much like the old SNES controller the way it is now.

@X V1: Yes, I have played with a 360 controller. No, I don't like it. Yes, that's my opinion.
And I have a friend who only owns a PS3 but prefers the Xbox style controller. I think he's crazy.

@Zerotm: How large are your hands? (Is that a strange question?) Let's put it this way; can you palm a basketball?
What I'm trying to get at is that I have very large hands. To put it in perspective, I wear size 15 shoes and my hands are proportional. Ever since I passed the 6' mark I've had problems with game controller size; they are all too small. I think that may be the reason why I'm no longer good at fighters (Street Fighter, Tekken); my hands don't fit the controller properly.

But I digress. My point is that I find the position of the left analog stick on the Xbox controller to be uncomfortable and I believe this is due to my large hands/long fingers. I feel like I have to bend my thumb back to reach the left analog on the Xbox controller. I don't have this problem with the right analog stick or either of the analog sticks on the Playstation controller.

Having the dpad in where it is on the Playstation controller is fine though, since I find most games use the analog stick more than the dpad.

@Pheonix1025: I'll take your word for it. I never played the gamecube. I don't even own a Wii, I was just trying to insight a PS3 vs Xbox war. That makes me cool, right?

@Kris S: I'm going to say "Thanks" and hope that that's the right answer...

The reason the d pad is where it is on the classic controller is that the majority of the time it will be used for 2D games, so yeah the Playstation controller is the superior design if the majority of games you play are 2D.

The sticks are just shoehorned in for the odd 3D game, just like what Sony did over 10 years ago for the PS1.

well, i bought a classic controller way back at launch, and it has been working just fine. don't really need the wing handles, thanks. this does bring up my favorite point about the wii. you have so many control options! i can play games with nes format controls, snes format, both wiimote schemes, and even a cube controller (still my fav controller for games requiring analogue controls). i often switch for game to game in the same session (habit from my youth), and it's great to go from tats with classic control to galaxy with wii mote, and then to megaman with nes style.

say what you want about graphics and motion controls, but when it come to versatility, no one matches the wii. not even close. in fact, my next gaming purchase is probably going to be one of those multi taps for wii that lets you hook up nes, snes, 64, and sega controls.

Damnit, no one had a regular CC in stores in my area, so I ordered one from Amazon.

But I pre-ordered the Monster Hunter Tri bundle, so I win either way.

Well you can use it for playing any game that uses the normal classic controller, so that literally hundreds, if not over a thousand games already!

Eh, controllers. I guess I like my PS3s more than my 360's but depends what I'm playing. Sometimes I like the 360 dpad as I can reach my right hands thumb to the d-pad if it's used for selection of things in games (like weapoons for instance) while I continue to move/strafe with the left analog whereas the traditional d-pad position is not so handy in these instances. Also the analog sticks are more precise on 360, as in they pick up more precise movement. I like my PS3 controller for pretty much everything else bar shooters or any game which requires you to be very precise.

Tbh I think this Wii controller looks like a piece (of shit). Does this provide any added functionality over the gamecube controller? Because ergonomically that controller is by far the best for me.

I hate the placement of the left analog stick. It's also the reason I have hated every Dual Shock Controller and why I specifically sought out a replacement PS3 controller that had sticks that mirrored the 360.

I find that when I hold a controller, the natural placement of my thumb is at about 12 o'clock. Placing at almost 3 o'clock (ala this controller and the dual shocks) feels like I am over extending my thumb. Nowhere near as comfortable as the other layout.

As a Gamestop employee, I can almost guarantee that this won't ship on the 1st of April. ANYTHING that has been listed as coming out on the first of the month has been pushed. Look for the controller to come out at the same time as Monster Hunter.

Sorry, it still looks like shit, but it's an upgrade, so I'll buy one anyway. Who knows? Tatsunoko vs capcom might actually be playable with it. And also to be fair it could be a 360 controller and as long as it has to plug into that lame ass wiimote it'll always be an awkward piece of shit, who at nintendo thought that was a good idea is beyond me.

I already have two flat Classics which I've been using to play console emulators on my PC (with output to an Svideo TV) using Mayflash's aptly named "Wii Classic Controller to USB Adapter." I love the D-Pad on my current pads, as they feel pretty much like a DS's D-pad with a non-slip texture and rounded edges. I see that Classic Pro is finally in the U.S. at the same price as the original, so what I wanna know before I throw down a $20 is: "IS THE D-PAD ON THE PRO AS GOOD AS THE ONE ON THE FLAT MODEL?" I mean the CC is made for Virtual Console games, majority of which are 2D, so any skimping on D-Pad quality would make it suck for Platformers and Fighters.
