My nonconformist ass imported the White Classic Controller Pro for more comfortable Wii gaming. It turns out that I could have waited a bit and got it for cheaper.
GameStop has a listing for the White version of this lovely controller, so that you may game in style when you play your Virtual Console titles and fighting games. They have a pre-order page up, with a ship date set for April 1st. No April Fools with the $19.99 price tag, either. The only fool was me for not waiting.
Is it just me, or is this your ideal controller. Analog sticks on an even level, solid hand feel, great buttons, killer d-pad. Why is this a secondary controller on a motion-based gaming system?
Of course, if you're getting Monster Hunter Tri, the black one is bundled with it.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
It should come with a face on it.
When compared to a gamecube controller, the 4 buttons should be rotated clockwise.
the "a" button (light attack) should be the bottom button and "b" (strong attack) should be the left button...
I know they're trying to go off the old snes design, but somewhere along the way (gamecube or N64) things got screwed up.
The only thing I don't like about these controllers is the grooved analog openings.
It basically makes your analog stick "sticky" in one of 8 different directions, completely ignoring the point of analog input entirely.
Playstation and Nintendo know what they are doing. Microsoft is crap. There, I said it.
I actually think that uneven analog sticks are better, just more comfortable.
"puts on sunglasses"
Ahh! Much better.
YEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!!
well, there was that thing called a gamecube, which had a controller that had the analog stick above the d-pad.
What the fuck? No thanks.
Yes you did didn't you and what a clever little creature you are
And I have a friend who only owns a PS3 but prefers the Xbox style controller. I think he's crazy.
@Zerotm: How large are your hands? (Is that a strange question?) Let's put it this way; can you palm a basketball?
What I'm trying to get at is that I have very large hands. To put it in perspective, I wear size 15 shoes and my hands are proportional. Ever since I passed the 6' mark I've had problems with game controller size; they are all too small. I think that may be the reason why I'm no longer good at fighters (Street Fighter, Tekken); my hands don't fit the controller properly.
But I digress. My point is that I find the position of the left analog stick on the Xbox controller to be uncomfortable and I believe this is due to my large hands/long fingers. I feel like I have to bend my thumb back to reach the left analog on the Xbox controller. I don't have this problem with the right analog stick or either of the analog sticks on the Playstation controller.
Having the dpad in where it is on the Playstation controller is fine though, since I find most games use the analog stick more than the dpad.
@Pheonix1025: I'll take your word for it. I never played the gamecube. I don't even own a Wii, I was just trying to insight a PS3 vs Xbox war. That makes me cool, right?
@Kris S: I'm going to say "Thanks" and hope that that's the right answer...
The sticks are just shoehorned in for the odd 3D game, just like what Sony did over 10 years ago for the PS1.
say what you want about graphics and motion controls, but when it come to versatility, no one matches the wii. not even close. in fact, my next gaming purchase is probably going to be one of those multi taps for wii that lets you hook up nes, snes, 64, and sega controls.
But I pre-ordered the Monster Hunter Tri bundle, so I win either way.
Well you can use it for playing any game that uses the normal classic controller, so that literally hundreds, if not over a thousand games already!
I think you just explained why I've always preferred the 360 controller: small hands.
Makes my dick look HUGE, though!
Tbh I think this Wii controller looks like a piece (of shit). Does this provide any added functionality over the gamecube controller? Because ergonomically that controller is by far the best for me.
I find that when I hold a controller, the natural placement of my thumb is at about 12 o'clock. Placing at almost 3 o'clock (ala this controller and the dual shocks) feels like I am over extending my thumb. Nowhere near as comfortable as the other layout.
