GameStop, Gamecrazy stop Wii Fit pre-orders, Americans not so lazy after all

Thinking about picking up your copy of Wii Fit at GameStop or Gamecrazy next week? Maybe when that clerk was harassing you about pre-ordering it you should have given it some thought, cool guy.

According to IGN, both retailers have suspended their pre-orderings, having already sold out of their initial allocations. All hope is not lost -- it appears you can still pre-order the game from Gamestop.com, and you might have some luck picking up the title at larger retailers like Target and K-Mart, neither of which accept pre-orders.

One Gamecrazy location told IGN that they were "still accepting 'second orders' for those who have already reserved one unit" which not only doesn't make any sense, but seems like a nasty way of saying "nanny, nanny, poo poo" to someone who "should have reserved the game when [they] asked the first time."

Wii Fit is already a ridiculous sensation in both Japan and Europe, and I'd suggest everyone hold on to their hats for the impending North American media blitz.

I'm interested in this, although with the most recent story of that british girl being "told she was fat" because the balance board was on a carpet and read her weight wrong or something, I'm worried it won't work properly. I want to see some people test it on different surfaces to ensure accuracy. I have too much carpet in my place

(insert dirty joke here)

That Brit girl thing was because BMI is typically a lousy indicator of overall health. And there's the chance she put her height in incorrectly, skewing it even further.

So they're not lazy: just wasteful with money and stupid.

I think I may have gone a little overboard..

....I'm laughing at all the lazy asses who didn't pre-order the game when stores were advertising them in store/sunday papers/store windows. Cause you know...they were there.

I guess it really doesn't matter. Anyone hoping that Wii fit alone will help them get in "fit" will phail anyway.

Sounds like a lot of consumers who missed out will be throwing a WiiFit.

BAD PUN ATTACK!!!

I still don't see how expensive scales will help people get fit. O_O

I got it the day it was launched here in Europe and after the first few days on it you will be cursing it. You get a pretty decent workout but don't expect to be Arnie in Pumping Iron or traveling to Beijing for the 100m sprint after a month...

No... Americans are still quite lazy. Jumping around in front of your TV is ineffectual and lame, regardless of whether you're doing it to Billy Blanks Tae-Bo or WiiFit. There are millions of still-chubby housewives who can attest to this.

Get outside and do something.

Lets see how many people are selling their Wii Fit's on ebay after week 1...

Once again, the Wii uses it's evil mind rays to make Destructoid commenters dumb...

Evidently, any workout video of any type is completely ineffectual because Crapshoot knows some fat housewives.

Raired is evidently completely unfamiliar with what Wii Fit is and thinks it's a bathroom scale, but still felt the need to comment in a thread about Wii Fit.

SaraAB87 insists that people will buy popular things and resell them on ebay. Impossible, that never happens!

Dryvby points out that anybody buying this is wasting money, as opposed to other video games which are evidently a sound investment strategy in his world.

yeah its fucking impossible to get one over here... gamestores can't even tell when the next load is gonna come in... on saturday he could've had 50 sold if he would have had the stock...

Maybe people are preordering two because they're super-duper fat?

Well, I actually researched it a bit, which it seems others didn't, and have realized that WiiFit is less about HARDCORE MOUNTAIN DEW AMERICAN INSTANT FAST FOOD WEIGHT LOSSS BABY WHHOOOOOOO!!!

And more about becoming aware of your body, how your body reacts to things, you center of gavity and finding an overall ballance, which I think is very exciting. I'm guessing that when used properly, it will make you more health oriented and second guess that third slice of pizza.

And according to a couple of my friends across the pond, it's actually very fun and integrates itself into your life quite seamlessly.
