GameStop: Don't expect Wii Fit or possibly a Wii this holiday season photo

A few days ago, Reggie Fils-Aime announced that the Wii would actually be in stock this holiday season. He also said copies of Wii Fit would be hard to find. According to GameStop’s chief financial officer, David Carlson, it appears that even the Wii may suffer from a shortage:

Wii Fit is in very, very short supply. It sells through as quickly as it hits the stores. And although the Wii hardware is in very good supply right now we believe it may as well be out of stock by the holiday season.

This shouldn’t be anything new for fans wishing to get their hands on Wii Fit. The ninety-dollar push up device has rarely been seen in stores since its debut. As for the lack of the Wii on store shelves, consumers shouldn’t be surprised either. The Wii has been hiding better than a frightened lynx the last two holiday seasons.

Carlson does underline a point that Fils-Aime inadvertently made – people still like the Wii. And that means more need to be produced. It’s been years since launch and it still carries hype and sells like ninety-nine cent pancakes at IHOP.

I usually hate people who sell things that are in high demand on ebay for twice the price. But for this, I think it would be perfectly acceptable.

They have 99 cent hot cakes at IHOP? Which I only recently realized meant international house of pancakes.

More you know star.

If anybody cares all GameStop stores should have Wii Fits on Black Friday. We are giving away some stupid little bag with it that day.

Ninety-dollar push-up device. Like my Victoria's Secret bra with Swarovski crystals.

Huh. I keep seeing Wii Fit bundles in stores around my house. I have no desire to buy one, but was considering grabbing one to sell on eBay. But I just checked; I'd probably only get about $20 (profit). And knowing my luck, I'll buy one and then hear about how Nintendo suddenly flooded stores with them.

Bullshit. Just last week I bought Wii #10 and WiiFit #3. It's all about timing. The people who are complaining about not being able to find them are looking at the same time that everyone else is looking for them -- evenings and weekends. Well, DUH! No onder you can't find them!

Find out when the store gets its supply truck in, and get in there during lunch that day (if the truck comes in the morning) or the following day. Another good time is Sunday morning just as the store opens, particularly at Best Buy and Target. Almost all of the Wiis and WiiFits that I got were during lunch or Sunday mornings.

As to what I do with them, I just sell them for whatever amount I paid to friends and family who I know are looking . F*ck the scalpers. They're just as low on the ethical scale as spammers as far as I'm concerned.

And those who mock WiiFit have obviously never tried it.

Thanks GameStop!! As if everyone hasn't been rubbing it my face enough already that I still won't be seeing WiiFit in my possession.

The (video game store who's name I won't mention :P) I work at has about 15 Wiis and 6 or so Wii Fits in stock. Maybe I'm just in a bubble, but are they that hard to find?

Yeah, our Gamestop has like 15 copies of WiiFit. Don't wait to the last minute to do holiday shopping then?

Haha ok maybe I have to go pop into my local game stores again. I haven't been on a serious hunt for one yet. Lately I've only been to the mall on weekends at late evenings so the odds really are against me. But then again, it's not like I can afford it right now for myself either. Maybe I can give it as a Christmas present if I stumble upon one.
