It was indeed over capacity, people had to wait (without queues) to get in. I was clever enough to go to the less crowded North entrances and stalk Sven Wohl into the building.

I'm not sure 16% more space will be enough, considerung how ridiculously overcrowded it was. After all, these events usually grow in visitors as well every year, so next year we can assume there'll be even more people there than this year.
'Europe's biggest event'? It's the largest video games trade show in the world. Bigger than TGS, E3, PAX or anything else you can name.
Bizarre they'd increase the headcount given the huge mess this year, but meh. Dtoid EU will still rock it, I'm sure.

The main floor really needs to be bigger. I visited the expo every year and it was incredibly crowded each and every time.

So far I visited gamescom every year and each time it became a bigger and bigger event...don't get me wrong, 3 years ago it started as a massive event but this year it was just mental. I waited for 2 hours on that saturday to get in and the whole floor was so full you could barely move. It's time that they spread it out a little more, what sounds ridiculous considering it's the forth largest exhibition centre in the world. I sure as hell will be there again next year, it just feels like home.

@Sonntagskind I went on thursday as well. MUCH more pleasant according to what I heard and read about the attendance on saturday. Are you from Cologne by chance?
