Gamescom sees 245k visitors, now the biggest game event photo

You know, I was going to go to Gamescom. But I didn't. I was busy with some personal stuff, but I was going to find a way to make it there anyway. My intentions to go lost some momentum when others told me that it couldn't be that big of a show, and that they were not going to announce anything there. Those people were wrong. In fact, this year's attendance makes Gamescom the largest game show in the world, says VideoGamer.

The the Cologne, Germany event taking place last week saw 245,000 visitors, just edging out last year's Tokyo Game Show numbers of about 195,000. A total of 458 companies showed up, with 200 of them being exhibitors from other countries. TGS, you had better step it up!

I regret not going. My regret has more to do with my lust for beer and sausages than games, but it does seem that Gamescom was pretty eventful. Do you think I should go next year?

Also, I'd say 50,000 visitors is a bit more than "just edging out" TGS.

But I'm nitpicking. I'm bored, what can I say?

You know most of us would kill 1 1/2 midgets or a whole person just to go to something like this. Hell even just to make a trip to Germany and drink beers with the likes of these girls.

Why should you go anyway? If its the biggest that's just more people in front of you in the que.

I actually noticed Gamescom was much more exciting than E3 but I thought maybe since the majority of big events at E3 didn't interest I was just of a different taste.

I hope this trend continues to be honest... Europe needs more gaming love, and this kind of attention can only be a good thing right?

The show was truly awesome :) Imo there were too many people, the lines to get into some booths were up to 4 hours long (!)
This had a fun side effect, people started drawing on the booths themselves :)

Others wrote stuff like "2 hours, still standing" :)

Based on previous experience I can drink two of the beers from the picture, after which I forget how to stand or walk and will eventually knock over my drink at the next bar while waiting on the bus. Incidentally you can use a standard bar coaster to pick up most spills if a napkin isn't available. I love Germany.
