Its 2012, if you want to waste tons of space on hardware that's great, I don't. Vita should have had compatibility at day one, just as 3DS did. We live in an age of smart devices, Vita has no excuse for being the dumbass among them.

Hahahah, I agree with you TSP, but I find it really funny how you manage to throw a nod to Nintendo and/or a slap to Sony in almost every post I see from you.
The 3DS isn't compatible with the Wii's Virtual Console, though. The 3DS has its own Virtual Console with (mostly) different games.
For all those bitching and moaning about how only a few games are supported, every single PS1 games needs to be re-emulated for the Vita hardware and software so it actually works properly. If they just ported over the PSP emulation it could open up all the same software vulnerabilities that a lot of the PSP games on PSN already have.

Sony knew they'd have another handheld down the road, but didn't plan for this part at all. They deserve all the shit they'll get for that lack of foresight.
@Coltrane - Nintendo is the competition. iOS and 3DS don't cockblock me from playing games I already own from the prior model/iteration.
If I had a Vita right now, I'd have access to two of the ten or twelve PSX games I have on PSN. Oh, and fork out twice the market standard on memory just to store those two game on a paltry 4GB card.
I don't like slamming Vita. I'd like to get one, but Sony needs to stop acting like their shit doesn't stink. If they didn't plan for these things on Vita, how could anyone trust them on PS4?

I could've sworn they said the entire existing PSOne catalogue was going to be compatible from the get-go.

I'll probably have to wait for an eternity to play my beloved Chrono Cross on the go, since it took them forever to add it to PSN in the first place. :(
I already have FFVII and Crash Bandicoot, so this initial lineup works for me, but I also want Spyro and Vagrant Story right now. Maybe I'll pick up Wild Arms. Overall I see this as a good thing and I just hope that they build the library quickly, especially since it already exists.

@ctg They focused on new games and features? Where are they then? I've owned a Vita since day 1, and haven't touched it in about 3 months.
CTG867 almost seems as if he works for Sony Marketing or something. I've owned a Vita since day 1 and I LOVE it but I also am rather surprised by Sony not having all of this stuff sorted out before launch or shortly after. They are simply throwing no resources at it. Also, I love the comment about them not supporting old games to focus on new ones...the division that works on the Vita hardware ARE NOT GAME DEVELOPERS. It's not like they are pulling from these massive teams teams that are trying to churn out ground breaking Vita content. In fact they seem to do very little 1st party support at all. Or any support. The one thing that would be easy to do is emulate PS1 games, get them QA'd and allow people to purchase them. To give people like me reasons to keep using the device and not simply selling or shelving it. You make it sound like emulation is hard (it's not) and plugging the security holes is rough (it's not). Also, even if there is a security hole who cares? It's their network and you have to connect to it so it can be quickly and cheaply patched. It's not like every single Vita owner will become a pirate and start ruining an already ruined systems sales. With talk like that it makes me wonder if you work for Sony Marketing or Ubisoft management.
