Games on Demand update: Army of Two and fast stuff photo

A few new (old) games hit Microsoft’s Games on Demand digital distribution platform this morning, dudes. According to Mr. Xbox LIVE, Major Nelson, the kickin’ rad cooperative shooter Army of Two, the bold racer Midnight Club: LA, and Sonic Unleashed have joined the sea of other ancient videogames available for download.

Army of Two
, surprisingly, is the cheapest of the bunch, priced at an agreeable (and roughly) 20 bones in the US. Sonic Unleashed and Midnight Club: LA are locked in at around 30 US bones for whatever silly reason.

Those in Korea and Japan won’t be able to get Army of Two or Midnight Club: LA.

With that boring clerical stuff said, we wonder what you’ll be downloading this week via Games on Demand. The choice seems clear on the surface: it’s a pick between fist pounds and golden guns, cars and blur, and a blue squirrel.

How about I download nothing and save my money for more reasonably-priced items? Of the three released, Midnight Club: LA would be the one I might actually purchase on disc.

Microsoft: Ruining digital distribution, one game at a time.
This and the PSPGo are killing DD's chances at success. $30 for Sonic Unleashed? Seriously?

is anybody paying for these things? Seriously Dtoid editor dudes, are there any numbers on it yet? I can't believe anyone would pay $30 for something you can get for half that on ebay or amazon. Convenience be damned.

Sonic isn't a "blue squirrel", he's a "blue hedgehog" durrr.

And in before "Sonic Unleashed is shitty game". Ugh.

For some reason these feel less insulting than some of the pricing on PSP PSN titles. It's still not great, and Sonic Unleashed is hardly a classic, but buying new you'd have trouble getting much better prices, which hasn't been my experience with PSN PSP items (obviously there are plenty of exceptions). Honestly, when I'm being asked to pay $10 for the PSX version of Tomb Raider, $20 for Army of Two or Burnout Paradise doesn't seem so bad.

That said? I would LOVE to see some solid sales figures on these suckers.

GoD (?) would be an option worth debating if they even bothered to make it worth anybody's while. You can buy a brand new, sealed physical copy of Midnight Club with all of the DLC included for the same price. Whiny devs/pubs get new copy cash, gamer gets physical copy and all DLC. End of DD discussion. The ONLY benefit that I can come up with for DD over the new physical copy option, is that you wouldn't need to put the disc in every time you wanted to play the game. Cool, sure, but not nearly enough to warrant sacrificing the bonus DLC and resale value of the physical copy to offset the original price. So, yeah, no.
