Not even Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson can pretend this is anything else -- Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth is now available on Games on Demand, and it's the simplest way to get 1000 Gamerscore points. Ever.
The game will cost you $19.99, and that roughly translates to the easiest boost of Gamerscore you'll be able to find. Yes, it straight up involves pressing the "B" button a bunch of times. Sounds like a good use of five minutes.
SEGA Superstar Tennis is the other game available today, and that'll run you $19.99. Problem is, it'll make you work for your Gamescore points. Not cool, Sega. Get with the program.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Naw, it's just something "hardcorez gaimerz" like to brag about.
They are imaginary points that are gained via acheivements. In essence the gamerscore is just a mathematical represenation of how big a gamer you are.
In actuality, it is just the lube used to stroke our e-penis.
I don't get why people hate on PS3 trophies so much, though. I think the difference is that they're separated into tiers, and you can't just binge on easy trophies to come up with an impressive looking number... someone could call you out for having all bronze but not many gold or platinum. My wife says I'm hooked on trophies, she's always showing off the trophies she's earned for my PSN account. All I care about though are the games I like, I busted my a** to get Platinum for Demon's Souls and I think getting Platinum for Wipeout is going to be my life's goal because holy hell it's nigh-on impossible.
Also, it's no different than when you'd brag to your friends about doing something ridiculous in a game or beat a difficult boss...now, you just have a little icon and some extra GS to show it.
You don't get anything if you beat your friends in a pickup basketball game, either, but it still feels good. It's the same with achievements. They dn't have to be worth anything. Beating games in the days before them wasn't worth anythng, either, but you still wanted to, right?
"But why is a gamerscore so important to some people? Can you spend your gained score like points?"
Nope, like others have said, it's just another score that you can brag about. For the same reason people try to glitch out Pac Man cabinets by going for the highest score possible, some gamers get off on increasing their gamerscore. It's all in good fun.
Well, for some of us, anyway...
$20/£20 is too much considering this game will be in bargain preowned bins everywhere.
