I have been doped up on pain meds all day so I am in no fit state to go looking for a video that nobody ever asked to watch. In order to get this done so I can go and pass out, I have decided this week to instead just post a picture of a sea anemone. There it is. Isn't it wonderful? Great.
Speaking of sea creatures, videogames were played this week. You can hit the jump and find out which ones if you care. Oh, and do please tell us which games you've been playing as well
Bennett: Played Nier, Ninety Nine Nights II, Persona 3 PSP, Tales of Graces, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, PixelJunk Shooter, and stared a lot at Final Fantasy XIII (but didn't get to play it, pout). Also played quite a bit of Bowser's Inside Story, which is awesomely good.
Aziz: I beat Bowser's Inside Story the other day. God damn is it long, and good.
Sterling: Still playing Final Fantasy VII on my PSP whenever I'm bored. I've also gotten back into Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for some random reason, possibly sharpening my skills before Modern Warfare 2 hits. Surprisingly not as rusty as I thought I'd be, still hanging in there and kicking ass. Modern Warfare is the game that really got me into online gaming, so I'm looking forward to the second, even if Evil Activision is behind the steering wheel.
I also found a Dreamcast in my closet that I never knew we had, which was pretty rad. Not been able to play on it yet but am looking forward to doing so.
Ross: I finished Arkham Asylum at the beginning of the week, and have mostly just been playing Bowser's Inside Story since then. Arkham Asylum is my current game of the year -- it's just so goddamn well done.
Sarkar: I've been slogging through Half-Life 2, and I've still got three chapters to go. I didn't realize how long the game was when I picked it up in Ravenholm last week -- I'm not saying that that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's definitely a true thing. I'm still really enjoying it, but it does drag in places.
On Wednesday, I finally got The Beatles: Rock Band, and I stayed in on Friday night to play through the story mode in its entirety (it took between 3 and 4 hours). As I said on Twitter, it's the most fulfilling videogame experience I've had all year. I couldn't have been happier with the final product; it really blew me away. And what's really awesome is that I've gained a new appreciation for some lesser-known Beatles songs, like "I Me Mine," after singing/playing them.
Burch: The episodes are paced much better.
Also, just finished Lair of the Leviathan, the third Tales of Monkey Island episode, and it's unquestionably the best in terms of both comedy and puzzles. But I really like Morgan LeFlay, so what do I know?
Zimmerman: I, too, played through the story mode of The Beatles: Rock Band. While I am less likely to gush about it, not being a big fan of The Beatles, I did find it to be quite impressive and I have certainly gained a new appreciation for their music having played the game.
I've also played Katamari Forever and The Warriors: Street Brawl for review. One of them is good. Another one is not-so-good. I'll leave you to guess which is which.
Razak: I played some Mario Kart with the lady a few nights after discovering I had some how deleted the file from my Wii. Have to open all the tracks back up, but there are far worse fates in the world. Other than this there was a little Batman action and a bit of RE5. I also hit up Scribblenauts here and there, but no massive gaming events for me.
Holmes: Playing Katamari Forever as we speak. Very mixed feelings about the game, but it seems to get better the farther you get into it.
Earlier in the week I played Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, in honor of Frank West's upcoming appearance in Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All Stars. Also re-played MadWorld for some reason. Both games are still a lot of fun to come back to now and again.
Finally, played the Lost Planet 2 demo. It's not my thing, but I could see what other people may like about it.
Oh crap, almost forgot. I played a crap load of You, Me and the Cubes in the beginning of the week. The game gets way hard in the last few levels. If you like "progressive puzzle games" like the Art Style series, buy it right now. You'll get your ten bucks worth. It'll take you ages to beat all the games levels.
(oh yeah, and a couple of demos too... the zombie one and a few others - nothing particularly memorable though)
For the PS3.
I also got the first Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, Contact and Scribblenauts.
Today Mirror's Edge for PC arrived from Amazon. The game is really freaking good actually. I find it rather underrated by it's first person perspective. Seriously, play it.
I have 11 days left in the cast! Then physical therapy and a cane for a few months but eff it. I can go out in direct sunlight again! Although I fear my social skills have dwindled beyond the point of no return:

Bioshock is better when it's extremely hard, seriously.
Oh, and i got all the cakes in 'Splosion Man Single Mode, gotta play the Multiplayer now.
Pretty fun times.
@ Mondi- What do you think of Contact? I'm always curious to hear what people think of that game.
Other then that, I went on an Indie Games kick, downloading the demos for Biology Battle, Agent Moo's game, Something involving dropping your avatar through hoops (Which was absurdly hilarious), and I Made A Game With Zombies In It (I can't remember how it's actually spelled...). They were all great, not to mention absurdly cheap...once I get my first paycheck, I'm buying all of them and renewing my gold membership.
If the rumors of Alpha Protocol's delay are true, then I will have lost my game of the week, and my immediate reason for buying a new PC :(
Excellent game. The kind of RPG i can enjoy, probably because of how funny & how much personality it has, but also because it requires some timing for the attacks and deffend which make the gameplay pretty engaging.
I'm still putting off playing hard mode for a nice break from school such as Thanksgiving or Winter Solstice. But the thought of dual chainsaws and a katana are veeeery enticing...
Beat Halo 3: ODST, and replaying that now, looking for additional audio logs (I've been resisting using a guide until today, but now I am following an online guide). My internet connection has sadly been too poor lately for me to hop on and play some Firefight with my friends. :(
Been very steadily playing through Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2. I find the game good, but it's not good enough to keep me hooked for long periods at a time. I do like one whole mission every other day.
Also been working on my Hard Mode replay of Batman: Arkham Asylum -- I love that game.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! (First time).
Started FFX same night (first time as well).
Well I beat the first boss some days ago. Where do I start... the game demands some grinding and you be sure to be prepared for taking some damage. There are some things i do not understand as if there is a way to jump to avoid certain attacks, i am not sure if I can do that, it's and RPG.
Still despite the difficulty, something feels very rewarding, the style is very unique. Many compare it with EarthBound but I want to add it feels like EarthBound meets Final Fantasy VI. The situations and characters are kind of strange and unique, but they are not all happy-go-lucky like EarthBound. Sometimes the story goes serious and the scenery changes quickly.
I am not saying it's a bad game. It is a bit frustrating for the tedious and srange semi-automatic battle system, but the whole universe that surrounds it is complex and makes you feel like you ae in a long strange road with things you never saw before ahead.
All of what I mentioned, I want to add that the recurring 4th wall breaking dialogue mixed with the main character's role is interesting. Definitely a very unique game like I have never tried before. i gotta dig deeper in it, but I am so entertained with other titles too. (including college too)
Also, Bowser's Inside Story. Awesome.
Blazblue is getting some love, and I also finished Super Paper Mario Wii. The ending was meh, nothing too special and it felt generic, but I loved that game.
Oh, and Best Buy had a bunch of stuff marked down yesterday, so I snagged a brand new copy of Maximo vs the Army of Zin for all of $2.50 -- damn that game is good.
I've also tried myself at Braid again, I begin to get the hang of that time manipulation tinghamajig.
I started a new Earthbound file. Peanut-flavored text window, and Peanuts (the comic)-themed character/favorites names. I'm going for a super-hard-mode game: EVERY 1/128 items, buying the house in Onett before beating Frank, those kinds of things.
I've also run around Okami, trying to get those damns Stray Beads. I've given up on that talking wall in the cave of Wep'keer. Too. Much. Damn. Points.
Bowsers Inside Story should be coming in the post any day now, I'm really looking forward to diving into it- everyone says it's fantastic.
My 360 came back from the repair center on Friday, hopefully tonight I'll find time to set it up again, then I think I'll download Shadow Complex.
Other than that, more Saints Row 2, a little Dead Space tonight...
Oh.
AND MOTHER 3 FOR THE FIRST TIME WHICH IS FANTASTIC
Watched my friends play Mega Man 9. It looks balls hard. Going to stay away from that one.
played the boob gaiden ps3 demo..........yeah.
lost planet 2 demo isn't really my thing, but damn does it look good.
Also: got my dad playing the DS Metroids, which is nice.
xbox360 - Left 4 Dead (still working on those achievements), Halo ODST (pretty boring when you play Co-op Campaign), Batman Arkham Asylum.
DS - chrono trigger (heart!)
