Games of the week for 08/09/09: How is babby formed edition photo

How is babby formed? How is babby formed? How girl get pragnent? They need to do way instain mother> who kill their babbys, becus these babbys cant frigth back?

Speaking of babbys that can't frigth back, the Destructoid crew played videogames this week. As ever, you can hit the jump to find out which videogames we played, and feel free to share your own. I bet you just can't wait!

Zimmerman: I have been trapped in a cabin in rural Wisconsin for the week, far away from videogame consoles and internet access. As a result, the DS has been my best friend and I've been plugging hours into Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (where I seem to do nothing but trade drugs), The Legendary Starfy and Dokapon Journey. I suppose there are worse ways to spend a vacation, assuming that you're trapped in a cabin with your future in-laws.

Chester: I haven't played a single videogame all week. True story.

Razak: I finally worked up the gusto to dive back in Assassins Creed. The repetitive gameplay is worth it for simply exploring the cities and the story when you are playing, but once I left it alone for a few weeks I had to really struggle to jump back in. Done now and tearing through it. Otherwise it has been Wii Sports Resort with friends and that's pretty much it.

Bennett: Lots of Bookworm Adventures 2 and Space Bubble Bobble for review purposes. Niero and I have been revisiting Pixeljunk Monsters and the day before yesterday, I decided it was time for that replay of Persona 3, which I'm dedicating my Sunday to today. I also checked out Boing! Docomodake, which has an awfully familiar looking mushroom as its mascot. Come to find out he's the mascot for a Japanese cell phone company called Docomo -- and the game managed to get localized into English and released here. Don't ask me how that happened, but the game's a lot of fun so I'm not complaining!

Concelmo: Nothing but Little King's Story and Wii Sports Resort all week. Seriously, have you played these games? They pretty much are the greatest things ever. I really can't stop playing. It's like a disease. It's like having AIDS, but instead of having AIDS you have an addiction to Little King's Story and Wii Sports Resort. But without the cast of Rent singing about you. Okay, fine, it's nothing like having AIDS. But how great would it be if the cast of Rent did sing about an addiction to Little King's Story and Wii Sports Resort?!

"525,600 minutes. 525,000 attempts to beat the Onii King."

"One sport, archery. One sport, before I go. One sport. One sport to play all niiiiiiight!"

Somebody please make that musical happen.

Cantler: I revisited some of The Red Star after Podtoid 109 and found it to be just as great as Linde and I remembered. If you see that anywhere, buy it immediately. Then a little Bubble Bobble Neo on 360. After that, lots of Project Justice, KOF XII, Marvel Vs Capcom 2, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, some Super Puzzle Fighter, and a little Street Fighter Alpha III. Come to think of it, I've been playing pretty much nothing but fightans for about three weeks now. I wonder how many more Shunpakyus my thumb can take before I hit bone.

Niero: Nick sounds like me.  Wait until you have 26 kids and a baby :)

Sterling: Mainly playing Shatter for review. Good game. Also picked up Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia after putting it off since launch. Haven't played much of it so far, but it seems decent. Other than that, not too much. Mainly been staving off boredom by revisiting Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Finally forced myself to get the Achievement for reaching the fifth floor of Fatal Labyrinth. Good God that game is shit. Also, I never realized Golden Axe ripped off The Legend of Zelda for one of its games. The shamelessness of it is brilliant.

Grim: I think the last Pokemon game I played was Gold/Silver, but I randomly decided to try out FireRed and it's all coming back to me. This urge may or may not have been triggered by my Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise addiction. On the bright side, the game has, for the first time, ever allowed me to talk with my young sister about a game we're both interested in. Fun times. There's even co-op!

Villasenor: Like Conrad, I've been out of town for the past few weeks, though I have had access to my PS3. That being the case, I replayed Metal Gear Solid 4, finally started Resistance: Fall of Man, and gave Unreal Tournament 3 a try. UT3's story mode is a bit boring, but while I'd like to try playing it online with actual people, the Internet connection here is far too terrible to do so. :(

Ross: Like Chad, I am completely and utterly addicted to Little King's Story. It is by FAR the best game I've played so far this year. About 90% of my gaming time this week has been spent on that, but I also snuck a little Bookworm Adventures (The first one, I won it off Twitter), Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue, and Team Fortress 2. I also spent most of yesterday playing Aion, which is a surprisingly good MMO that might give WoW a run for its money.

Sarkar: As I mentioned on Podtoid last week, I decided to start playing Mirror's Edge last Sunday evening. I started playing around 6:30.

By 2 AM or so, I had beaten eight of the game's nine levels.

I finished off the last level before we recorded Podtoid on Monday night, and I must say, I enjoyed the game. Sure, it got very frustrating at parts; the story was "meh," mostly because of the way it was conveyed (stupid crappy-Flash-animation 2D cut scenes); and it's rather short. But the parts of it that were good -- and I'd say the majority of it was -- bordered on sublime. Here's hoping the sequel kicks ass.

Otherwise, I received my Madden NFL 10 review copy on Wednesday afternoon, but I haven't been able to spend much time with it because I went to San Francisco on Thursday for a Guitar Hero 5 event. I'd talk about that, but you'll just have to wait until tomorrow afternoon (Eastern time) to read about it on Destructoid!

Holmes: Right now, my significant other is playing Wii Sports Resort and totally loving it -- all of it. I totally love it, too, which is pretty surprising, as the game failed to impress me at E3 08 and 09. Honestly, I was never that into the concept of Wii Sports, or motion-controlled sports games in genereal, but this game's changed all that. So much of it feels like, you know, a real game -- the swordfighting and Pilotwings bits in particular. Wii Sports Resort could have shipped with half the content and would have still been well worth the $50.

Also got into a game that takes place on a very different kind of island resort: Flower, Sun and Rain. One of the first things you do in the game is use your PC to "jack in" to a man's brain by inserting a dongle directly into his eyeball (upon his request, of course). The sexual innuendo is not lost on the in-game characters, either. Some semi-disturbing cyber skull-fuck comments are made, and were greatly appreciated by yours truly.

Then I went back to playing Darkstalkers 3 (import Saturn edition), a game that I thought I had completely memorized, but it still found ways to surprise me. And yes, I still think BlazBlue has a lot in common with the game. Deal with it.

Other than that, I did my daily challenges (or chores, depending on your perspective) in Animal Crossing: City Folk and Game Center CX 2, and loved them.

AND I'M SO GLAD YOU GUYS LIKE LITTLE KING'S STORY.

It's totally awesome, right?

I agree with Samit; Mirror's Edge got a lot of bad press, despite being a really solid game, in my opinion.

I agree with Dexter.

Also, I finished Fallout 3's story this week. I've come to the conclusion that I have some deep seeded claustrophobia or something. Going into vaults just makes me uncomfortable. Also, picked up Splosion Man, which is fantastic.

And I played the Arkham Asylum demo. WOW! This is clearly a Batman game, though TBH, I could see the detective/stealth shtick of that game getting old part way through. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Mirror's Edge is fun, at least when you're playing it, if you pay attention to the plot it will MELT your face with it's sheer stupidity. I never thought I'd say a game had a worse plot than Crysis, but bravo Mirror's Edge, you've done it! Not only does it make no sense at all, it also doesn't make you care about anything that happens. During the mission where you save your sister from the police escort by shooting the car with the rifle I actually FORGOT that was I was saving her. I was just like "Oh that van's about to find out shit just got real". Then a girl popped out of it...in a crappy flash cutscene. My personal favorite is that the government's horrible conspiracy is to spend millions of dollars training cops to jump really high and climb shit so they can be rid of the runners. Which sounds silly already, but then you remember Stupidpants McBoobies and Assface McEvil betrayed you guys and probably helped train them. Instead of you know, just saying "hey guys, they live here, shoot them." I almost wish they just didn't bother and let you run around for no reason like a tony hawk game or something. The gameplay was spot on for the most part though. :P

Oh yea, btw, spoiler alert!

Chrono Trigger DS, the first time I've played Chrono Trigger EVER. It's pretty cool! Protip: Beware of moments in RPGs where one character might leave the party and take all that neat equipment they were wearing with them.

Aside from that, a little Tiger Woods 10 and just a bit of Animal Crossing: City Folk. And some random games on GameTap.

Thinking of getting NyxQuest tomorrow on WiiWare. I've heard it's good, but I've heard it's also short, which is almost preventing me from spending 1,000 Points/$10 on it....Maybe I'll buy it & then once I get more points from the Pepsi Rock Band promo, I'll download M.U.S.H.A since I've been hearing it's a awesome shmup.

Thank goodness I bought a 2GB SD card to store my other WiiWare/Virtual Console games, though I don't like that I'll have to still clear room on my Wii to play stuff I've saved on my SD card...

LITTLE KING'S STORY! I just beat the Onii King and I'm flustered with what to do next. Gamefly sent me Killzone 2 so I ran through the story mode of that. Portland NARP today involved SF 4, BlazBlue, Guilty Gear and some Puyo Pop/Columns/Mega Man 9.

Tomorrow I'll be getting Uncharted in the mail, I'm psyched to finally get to play it. I've also got Zack and Wiki, and Guitar Hero Metallica waiting for me to play them.

I've also joined the Little King's Story train, and loving it. While on the go, I've been playing more Dragon Quest 5 on the DS.

I played so Final Fantasy VI Advance on my flight to Florida. I'm on the Floating Continent, and things are about to get nasty. Aside from that, I played the first 20 minutes or so of Mass Effect at a friend's. I really dig the way the dialogue works, but I didn't play long enough to get a great sense of the actual gameplay.

As for the Wii Sports Musical...
"Today canoe, tomorrow Jetski!"
That's all I can come up with, and frankly, it's probably more than I should admit to knowing about Rent here.

I really want Little King's Story.

I've been playing through Metroid Prime all week. It's been really fun up to the point where I had to go artifact hunting. There's one left. I know where it is and have no idea how to get to it. >.<

Seems I get less and less time to play games, I can imagine the mountain of dust that will accumulate on my ps3 and joystick when I start classes again. I've been playing a bit of BlazBlue here and there. I recently downloaded Vanguard Princess so having a bit of fun with that.

Anyways, I played a ton of Odin Sphere this week, and that's about it.

I've been on a weird Resident Evil kick lately. Played RE4 for the Wii, and finished it for the first time. Doing all the Mercenaries and a quick playthrough to get money. Also Umbrella Chronciles. and why the hell is the Resident Evil port for the Wii only 4:3? It's a tiny box on my big tv.

KEFKA YOU BASTARD! Yeah, I just got to the World of Ruin in FF6 and it's the farthest I've ever. I fought Atma Weapon and his theme song was awesome. Also, did anyone else die of laughter when Kefka just gently push Emperor Gestahl off the Floating Continent?

I started getting into Dawn of War 2 from that 50% off sale. It's either getting fucking hard or I'm doing it wrong cause I'm getting my ass kicked, but it's fun.

Oh, and the usual Forza 2.

The usual mix of Forza 2, Bad Company and COD4. I had to stop playing The Bigs 2 because i started having baseball dreams...

but i jumped back into my Empire total war campaign, and i love it all over again! I stopped playing because my main ally and trade partner The Ottomans declared war. i pooed a little when that happened. my economy went udders up initially, and i lost most of italy and north africa, but i kicked their asses all the way to syria now
WOOP!

I've been replaying Condemned 1&2 and I think the original still holds up despite some awful character models and sparse gameplay mechanics. The sequel is okay, but it's a bit soulless with too much 'busy work' going on.

I've also been replaying Kane & Lynch: Dead Men for the Fragile Alliance part. I still can't decide, after all these years, if the MP is underrated or just plain annoying. When it works, it's tense stuff and great entertainment. When it doesn't, it's the most depressingly boring time-waster ever devised.

I agree with everyone who agrees with Samit or something.

I got into DotA again, started playing P.N.03 on my Gamecube (completely underrated game IMO), finished Phoenix Wright 2, played Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting, HD Remix and 4, a little Marvel vs Capcom 2 but I realized that I will never get into that game competitively so I kinda gave up... and I just bought that indie game sale on Steam that I will probably start up a few games from now.

Just finished off Zenonia for the iPhone -- great little throwback action RPG that makes fun of the old RPG tropes all the way through. Got 20+ hrs. of gameplay out of it. Just started up Monkey Island for iPhone -- I'd never played it before, so I'm curious to see what all the hub-bub's about.

Also, tried to get myself to boot up the PS3 to finish Ghostbusters -- couldn't.
