Anyone who gets to know me will eventually learn that I worship in the Church of Morris. Chris Morris is one of the most biting, brutal, and above all, correct social satirists in the world. The above was filmed long before Dateline's To Catch A Predator, I should point out. This clip, taken from a very controversial episode of spoof current affairs program Brass Eye, did what a lot of Morris' work used to, and that's predict the way sensationalist media was headed at the time, and now currently resides.
With your weekly dose of Sterling culture over and done with, we shamble on to our games of the week feature. Hit the jump for our gaming treats.
Topher: I've been playing a lot of Momotaru Dentetsu on PS2, which has been turning out entirely too much like my real life. Also Metal Slug Anthology, Mainichi Isshou Ni, Shikigami no Shiro 2, and Ikaruga.
Conrad: I took a day off and dragged my 360 away from my computer so that I could just play a few games without the distraction of the internet. Played a little Dead Rising, some GTA IV (which still hasn't really lost its luster), and I gave Stuntman: Ignition a spin. I also started playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2, which only served to reinforce why I don't play tactics games after dying in the tutorial.
Jim: It's been a very Castlevania week for me. I'm currently questing for 206 % completion on Symphony of the Night, but am annoyed that the achievement for it on XBLA is called "Seeker," when everyone with a brain knows it should have been called "A Miserable Little Pile of Secrets." Wasted opportunity. Finished off Dawn of Sorrow, which was absolutely awesome, and am on the last boss of Portrait of Ruin, which was a bit lame in comparison to the combined win of Night and Sorrow. Just felt very regurgitated, and rather short. Still, am really glad to finally get on board the Castlevania train and can't wait for Order of Ecclesia.
Hamza: I've been playing through the original Halo and it still stands as one of my favorite games of all time. It's such bullshit that Bungie couldn't capture what made Halo 1 so good in Halo 2 and 3.
I also hoped on a game of AgentMOO's Maximum Overdeath game as well as finally trying out LordRegulus's Late Again game.
Nick: Do you mean bland, repetitive corridors? Anyhow, I started playing Siren on PSN and the PixelJunk Eden demo is just about the greatest thing ever. Also, I'm playing Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for the achievements, even though it's the most boring Guitar Hero I've ever played.
Hamza: Yeah, pretty much. Halo 1 had such huge environments compared to the others and lots of action going on in them.
Justin: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Pixeljunk Monsters, Super Stardust HD, and a bunch of random demos.
Niero: This weekend I played with women. Pics coming!
Dale: I'm playing Zoids Assault for an upcoming Destructoid review. In the meantime, I've dusted off Nocturne. It's such a great game!
Grim: I got F.E.A.R. for $4 at a garage sale ... I want my money back.
Colette: I snuck in a little bit of Final Fantasy IV on the way to Los Angeles, which feels like 3 years ago but was actually two weeks ago. I'm about to board yet another plane, and I'll probably play the same thing on the way home. I know, my life is a carnival of thrills and variety.
Niero: I had an envious weekend of FFIV, Little Big Planet, Ghostbusters and Kingdom of Loathing. I didn't get to play any of the above for as long as I wanted but I got to duet Lovefool with T'zaaaaar.
DMV: Some Devil May Cry 3 along with a bit more in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. I enjoy the Metroidvania games, but it's a mindless grind for me.
I still don't understand why they don't release more games in the summer, It's not like people take 3 month vacations!
I´m happy
great stuff jim.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (better late than never)
Spaceballs
Smokin' Aces
Sorry about that last post, didn't realize this wasn't the right place until after I posted. I always ignore these "games of the week" posts for some reason.
Replayed HL2, Counter Strike Source, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat Source, some source mods, and i'm buying gmod 10, i'm sick of having 9 for the couple of years I had it for xD
Ya, I buy anything valve xD, and at launch to, bring on Left 4 Dead!
I'm only at about hour 10 so we'll see how the game carries itself, but I think reviewers are starting to get too hung up on things that are supposed to be revolutionary and are missing games that are still fun to play without changing the world.
It kinda feels like Mistwalker was attempting to take on Square-Enix with Blue Dragon acting like a Dragon Quest game and Lost Oddyssey as a FF. That Hironobu Sakaguchi is a sly one.
Also, when I'm at work, Solitaire at work and Back to the Future for some God-forsaken reason.
And I'll be playing many of those acronyms this week.
I might pick up FFIV before the week is over
Other than that, just a bunch of Viva Pinata, mostly breeding tons of Flutterscotches since there are 10 different species (not variants) to get Master Romancer for. Also, Rock Band, in which I'm finally plowing through Expert Drums Solo Tour, five-starring everything. Got about a tier and a half left, plus a few bonus songs. Oh, and over 100 downloadable songs, but yeah...
I dislike not knowing where to go, and I absolutely hated used the Warthog at the beginning of Halo 1. I gave up right there.
Brass eye is possibly the best piece of comedy television ever made. I would like to put some links the best momements but its just pure brilliance from beginning to end.
Also, Jam

Downloaded the demo of Defcon, so I'll be giving that a go and trying to finish a cblog entry I've being working o for a wbile.
Mostly this week ill be playing Bad Company, GRID and Rock Band. Waiting for Soul Caliber IV!
And the PixelJunk Eden Demo which is pretty sweet once you get used to the controls
On a more thread related note, picked up 2nd hand copies of dead rising and splinter cell double agent, still grinding away at ikaruga/triggerheart excelica
