Between them, Dominic Diamond and fellow monocle-wearer Patrick Moore made gaming cool in the nineties with The Gamesmaster, which was one of the favorite shows as a kid. How did we get stuck with Cybernet in Britain when this classic program was once a reality? Not that Cybernet was a bad show (for something that they wouldn't air before 2am) but nothing beats Patrick Moore's special effects-enhanced head.

Since 90% of the readers neither know nor care what I am talking about, let's just move on. Games, we played them! You can hit the jump to find out what we actually played. Amazing how that works.

Brad: I am finally done with Disgaea. After putting in, what, 80 hours into the game? Jesus Christ. Now, my PSP choices are between Jeanne D'Arc and Final Fantasy Tactics. On the DS, I've got Mother 3 and Scourge: Hybrid to keep me entertained while I avoid my schoolwork as much as humanly possible.

Nick: This has been an interesting week of gaming for me. Let's put it this way -- the last game I played was Dancing With the Stars on the PlayStation 2. I must say, I'm extremely disappointed that the digital Joey McIntyre looks nothing like the real-life Joey McIntyre, but they more than make up for it with the creepiest digital Emmett Smith this side of All-Pros Football 2K8.

But I played some (comparatively) good games as well: Ninja Gaiden 2 for preview, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and I finally had a chance to play this Brad XBLA game everyone has been yapping about. I also spent about twenty minutes with Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on the PSP before realizing that it wasn't GTA IV and stopping.

Brad: What the fuck? I have my own XBLA game?

Nick: That should read "Braid."

Brad: Goddamit, Chester. I thought my Block Droppin' Party had finally made it onto XBLA before your Gun-Totin' Bitchslap Adventure.

Johnathan: Pretty much ever second of my waking life has been dedicated to a secret project, one that may or may not ever see the light of day, so unfortunately I haven't gotten to actually play many video games this week. However, I did manage to squeeze in some bite sized chunks of fun with two of the best looking games ever, Metal Slug X and Metal Slug 3. Also had the sudden urge to play the original Monkey Island again. Loved it just as much as the first time I played it, close to twenty years ago.

All in all, this was week where the low res, pixel based sprite reigned supreme. In a perfect world, every week would be like this.

Dale: I powered through Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds for a Destructoid review. I love it, and I wish I could keep playing, but I had to put it aside to finish my reviews of two fighting games: Arcana Heart and World Heroes Anthology. I love one, but the other? Not so much. I'll let you guess. In my downtime, I'm rocking Final Fantasy: Crisis Core -- and loving it.

Jim: Mostly been rocking Sega games for reviews. Sega Superstars Tennis and Viking: Battle for Asgard were played enough to write reviews for. Universe at War is next. I also tried Ikaruga ... I won't be playing that again.

Topher: Um... duh.

Gameboi: I might as well make a template that says " I've been playing Warhawk, Unreal Tournament III,  and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," because I pretty much do this every friggin week. Other than that, I've spent some time with Super Mario Galaxy, and that's about it.

Colette: Playing bits of Crisis Core at night and trying to get more Lost Odyssey achievements during the day, trying to suck less at Ikaruga, but most mentionable is that I got to play the first twenty minutes of the upcoming Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon on a friend's not-modded Wii. Epileptic spasms of delight probably don't begin to describe it.

Ron: On the 360: I picked up Chromehounds remembering back that I liked it a lot. I remembered wrong. Its ok but just feels slows and frustrating. The achievements are insane on top of everything else. Ninja Gaiden 2 has taken over my life it seems. 3 days straight this week it was all I could play. Its so pretty. It comes out in June and Im telling you, this thing will sell a few copies. Lego Star Wars: The complete Saga is another game that I couldnt put down earlier this week. The sh*ts just fun. If you dont like Star Wars then you might not enjoy the story considering there is virtually no dialog in the game. Its cute, its fun, and I love Star Wars  so eat me. Gameboi keeps sending me pictures of himself hogtied and naked. I don't like them. I dont want them. I wish he would stop. As usual I hit up COD4 a little and Wartec: Senko no Ronde.

Grim: My Retro Duo (NES + SNES combo system) finally arrived in the mail this week, and it's been great playing my old favorites like Bad Dudes, The Guardian Legend, Mega Man X, and Donkey Kong Country 2 again. At the suggestion of Butmac, I ordered Earth Defense Force 2017 online and proceeded to play it for 8 hours straight on Saturday. The mindless killing of giant ants, spiders, and robots is about all I need to have a good time these days.

Husky: This week I found myself with little to no gaming time, as I recovered from a disease that can only be known as Cancun. Although I regret leaving my 360 at home, in the little time I had available I caught up on old PC games that I love so much. I've been playing The Ship, yet another mod for HL that made it to a full tittle, as well as various other mods that I've come across back when I used to have spare time.

Chad: Professor Layton and the Curious Village > Ikaruga > Neutopia II > Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels.

But I still adore them all. :)

Samit: I'm with Gameboi. I, too, should just send out this same list of games every single week. Lately, I haven't really had much time for gaming except the time that's already set aside for it: WNW and FNF. So...Warhawk on Wednesday, then Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, and Warhawk on Friday. Oh, well...at least I'm always gaming with Dtoiders. Side note: college can go to hell.

Playing tons of Ikaruga and Psychonauts. Beat them both today as a matter of fact. Trying to squeeze in some CoD4 when my connection isn't being an asshole.

Also, Ikaruga has somehow sapped me of my Geometry Wars prowess, it seems. WTF IKARUGA.

Ikaruga.

I also picked up the MGA Essentials collection, ao I am working throught MGS for the first time ever. Jim was right, MGS has some of the best characters in a game ever. Right now I am trying to take down Liquid in that pesky Hind!

Gamesmaster rocked. I use the Gamesmaster annual from 1993 as a mouse mat. I miss it. Wish there was a show that great about games around now.

Also, Bandana wearing Dave Perry is a wank stain.

TF2, as per usual.

Also been playing some old school Unreal games off the Anthology, and tried to start FFT on the PSP, but I'm not sure I have the fortitude to do it again...

Persona 3, Dota, Simpsons:The game, GH2, GH3.

Its my rule of thumb not to play 2 rpg's at the same time so these are in queue: radiata stories, FF XII, KH II (dunno if Ill play it, didn't reall ylike the combat system on I), Grimgrimoire.

And I could go on and on on my queued rpg's but, meh.

I managed to beat both Halo 1 and Halo 2. Needless to say, 2 > 1, but even then, 2 was enjoyable, but not amazing. I don't see why people always claim Halo 1 was so much better, since Halo 1 felt like the same thing over and over again, while Halo 2 at least had some variety to it. Plus, the Arbiter's missions/story were much more interesting than Master Chief's.

Also, Rock Band. Yay drums!

That video was amazing Jim! Haha. Oh that show was terrible yet I watched it anyway. I love how the guy was so miserable and thought it was a setup, awesome sauce.

Me? Ummm. I just started playing Chrono Trigger for the first time (I know, I know). Just finished a 5 hour sesh. Just to be annoying I decided to have a crack at the end boss really early, and did pretty well. I got past a few bosses that I hadn't even faced yet, then ran out of potiony things. SHAME. Still, I can see why it's everyone's favourite game here.

Not much, work and the Postal Exam was kicking my ass all week but I did play some Ikaruga (X-Box 360), Warriors Orochi (PSP), Baroque (Wii) and Jumper (X-Box 360), which is perfect for achievement whores. You can get 350 GS points in the first 10 minutes alone.

Finishing all the side quest in Lost Odyssey. Got all Pirates, broke all Royal Seals, all seeds, all invisible treasures, now onto the back yard fights and endgame.

Figured I finish this game up since GTA IV looks to make all other games pile up dust for some time.

I tried out Ikaruga, and after an hour or so, bought N+ instead. 30 levels in.

I read a lot about games this week, that should count for something right?

Ron, oddly enough, i picked up Chromehounds this week too. I heard it was a good mech game, and didnt know that it was multiplayer-centric. Looks like its going back to gamestop when i finish the few single player missions, as im on dial up and even though my xbox is connected to the internet through my computer, its unplayable.

Brawl, TF2, Finished Sam & Max: Season 1 and bought Season 2. I would have bought Mario Kart but it was sold out. (And seems Wii's are also sold out again here, funny) I did buy a great new headset so that I don't have that tinny sound while playing tf2 though.

Gamesmaster was amazing Jim. Do you remember when Dexter Fletcher started presenting it? I think they set it in a prison then. It actually jerks my heart to remember how cool that show was. I remember Bad Company too, i think that was it's name, the one with Violet Berlin. Nowhere near as good.

Oh, and this week: Lost Odyssey and Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Haha no way we were talking about these old UK gaming shows on the forums a little while back!

Silverhertz did a little bad influence c-blog with a load of now hilarious youtube clips. The one where Violet Berlin checks out the Ultra/N64 is so bad but yet it's so good!

@Dejinator & RivaOni:
Man Bits and Thumb bandits was worth staying up to ungodly hours for. Doesn't Aleks write for the Guardian now? No wonder they write such good game related articles.

Back on topic, this week it's all about MARIO KART WII!!!

12 hours deep in to Suikoden II this weekend. Soooo much better then the first game it is astounding. Better characters, better stories, better graphics, better controls, etc etc. Love it!

Finally got 100% in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow as well. Chaos Ring FTW! Whooped up on the last boss like nobodies business. Fantastically fun game. Wish there were more 2D Metroidvania games.

Only had a bit of time and used it to play Rock Bandm Guitar Hero 3 and Ninety Nine Nights. Played as Asphar and got killed right as I was about to kill the big ogre at the end of the second mission... no clue where the heck my infantry went during the game. One moment they were following behind me, the next they were nowhere to be found. So, got that far with lame archers.

When talking about video games on TV we have to mention Gamepad which was pretty much a televised, weekly version of Edge. Well worth 30 minutes of anyone's time if you ask me.

Best we have now is Gamer.tv, that is however pretty damn good.

All about Mario Kart Wii this week, also going to try to make time for Majora's Mask and Persona 3.

Ikaruga, triggerheart excelia, omega five, N+, catan and lost odyssey mainly. I really, really like the XBLA.

Also, while cybernet was pretty shitty(and basically a half hour promo reel with an awful narrator), it was how I found out about ico back in the long long ago, so a special place in my heart is reserved for it. Gamesmaster pisses all over it though, obviously.
