Quantcast

It is so triumphant, its prey is sore,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
As it swings away the victor once more,
The Cheekiest Monkey Of All.

It knows the cheekiness that men do,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
But it knows only it holds cheekiness true,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...

A canine fool made to turn it's back,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
For said pooch doth know that the cheek it doth lack,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All

The hound most humbled pressed the assault,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
But a primate prankster made good on his fault,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...

With clothy agility limbs shall be snatched,
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
Begone, hapless Fido, for you are outmatched!
...The Cheekiest Monkey Of All...
[Epic poetry by Jim Sterling, Introducing Leo and Bioautographical]

Colette: I'm now fully absorbed into Lost Odyssey, to the point where I haven't touched another game in over a week. I have to salute Mistwalker...it's hard to keep my attention for so long! Since Baroque is coming out soon though, I may be very tempted to stray.

Topher: Having my ass handed to me by N+.

Dyson: Totally not playing Lost Odyssey because I have no time in my life because Professor Layton and his wicked puzzles have taken me over. I also got a chance to play Street Fighter IV this week. All I can say is about it, is that it's FUCKING AWESOME. That is all.

Orcist: I've been playing Lost Odyssey, and then using Geometry Wars to cheer me up and release adrenaline and endorphins into my poor, dilapidated shell of a psyche. Seriously, Lost Odyssey is unrelentingly sad, but I simply can't get enough of it.

Grim: N+ has been kicking my ass as well. Also, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

Jim: Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of my week has been soaked in a Dynasty Warriors 6 euphoria. Check out my full review if you so please. Not much else for me -- I need to polish off both DMC4 and Lost Odyssey but the allure of mindless hack n' slash action is just too strong for me to resist. Also, IT'S LU BU! LU BU HAS COME TO DESTROY US!

Nick: I spent the week at GDC in San Francisco, and played a bunch of games, including a handful I can't talk about. Those that I can talk include Too Human (write-up/impressions coming soon), Street Fighter IV (Linde's got you covered on that), flOw on the PSP, Secret Agent Clank, and a handful of the XNA games now available on Xbox LIVE.

The game I'm playing right now is Nursing the Flu or a Cold or Death, which Husky let me borrow.

Chad: GDC! WOO HOO! TAKE OFF YOUR TOP! Besides playing Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol on the plane rides to and from San Francisco, I got some hands-on time with Echochrome, Fez, Street Fighter IV, Bionic Commando: Rearmed (impressions coming soon), Secret Agent Clank, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Castle Crashers, Okami (Wii), and some super secret games. Also, the Stickam party was the greatest thing of all time. I love you all.

Hamza: I played LOL for the DS and played Wii Fit and absolutely loved that! Then I beat Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG, and Super Mario World all within a half hour and had the best time of my life at the NARP with all the awesome peoples.

Niero: I BEAT COBRA TRIANGLE!  THE LAST BOSS IS A SHARK!

Gameboi: I finally finished up DMC4, and enjoyed Viewtiful Joe in my spare time. Boy oh boy, would I love to see another VJ game this generation. I could really go for another Jak and Daxter game, too.

Your turn, community. What have you been playing?

Alright you pricks, I'll get N+. Which one of ya wants to be my ninja buddy?

Also, I don't think I have time for Lost Odyssey since I hear you have to put 60+ hours into it to get to the end. I can't keep playing games halfway through.

OK.. Jim, I love you, but what the fuck is with this HUGE ASS advertisement for Turning Point? Did CNET buy out my beloved Dtoid?

Also, it has nothing to do with our editorial content.

gopher: Don't be. It's not the first time we've had large banner ads for games. Trust me, should we review Turning Point, the nature of the review will be in no way influenced by that banner.

Companies pay us to tell you a product exists. They don't pay us to tell you it's good. :-)

Lovin the new enormous, site-covering ads, guys! Good thing you didn't take an extended amount of time out in the past to mock ads exactly like this on a competitor's site, or this would be really embarassing...oh wait...

Hey Jim, how do I get in on this feature?

I’ve been working my way through my solo drum career in Rock Band (medium difficulty). I think the last city I unlocked was Berlin. Also, I’ve played through the MLB 08 demo a few more times, and I feel pretty much the same way about it as I did when I wrote up my impressions.

Of course, I did the WNW thing, and also played some CoD 4 on FNF, but otherwise, that was it. Mostly Rock Band. It’s so awesome, because I actually feel like I’m getting better as I go along. I can’t tackle songs on hard yet, but I hope to get there eventually.

I hope this game gets a 3 for a review. That will be epic lulz.

Reaprar, get N+ before Pokersmash, for the love of all that is ninjas.

Also, Audiosurf has joined TF2 on my Steam time. Otherwise I think it's been... Layton and Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon on DS.

I've been continuing my recent Castlevania kick by starting (and mostly completing) Portrait of Ruin; it's a fun game but some of the quests are kinda boring. I'm also still working my way through Final Fantasy X.

I've been waiting to finally get a stable financial situation, and now that that's taken care of, it looks like I'll grab N+ and Lost Odyssey. Haven't had a good jerpiguh in a while.

I'm also looking into finally getting a DS, so if that goes through then Professor Layton and I will have a little chat with each other.

N+ is kicking the ever-loving shit out of me. I know that I could have probably cleared the single player already, but I'm a damned perfectionist when it comes to games like this. If I miss an orb or whatever, it physically harms me. The door is open, and it's right there, but there's something I haven't picked it up yet, it's not far away, I can grab it real fast, and OH FUCK YOU GOD DAMN ROCKET LAUNCHER!!

*throws controller, runs and grabs it, hits A and tries again*

Rock Band, Forza 2, and some Halo 3 for FNF.

Does anyone know how much abuse those Rock Band drums can take? I got a tad too excited and go nuts on 'em. They seem sturdy enough.

Huh? Am I lame? Wha- well. Yes...

@Niero

Cobra Triangle is awesome!! I remember being amazed by its graphics as a kid, but it was way too hard for me back then. Over the last year or so I've been going back to beat old NES games that got the best of me as a youngster--Star Tropics and the first Ninja Turtles game were my last conquests.

For some reason I have a strong urge to play Turning Point since visiting Destructoid, but other than that I've been playing N+, trying to finish Call of Juarez, Mass Effect, and kicking a sober BlindsideDork's ass in Halo while drunk.

Also, I neglected to mention that (on the PC front) I'm giving Armageddon Empires and Sins of a Solar Empire a whirl, and both of them are pretty good so far, even if SoaSE tends to drag out horrendously near the end of most matches.

AE is a card-based empire-building wargame, that uses dice to work out combat. That's really the entirety of the review, you now know whether this game is your enemy or your new significant other. I should also mention that you spend no extra people money on these cards.

I finally gots me a Wii the otherday so when I'm not asleep or at work I've been playing around on that. Of the 9 games and 1 Gamecube game I bought with it the only ones I've played on it have been DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Wii Sports, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and No More Heroes.

Other than that I've been playing Metal Gear Solide 3 after not touching the game for 2 years. I'm at The End but since I don't have the thermal goggles I might have to start over to find those. And also, when my 360 hasn't been giving me DDEs out the ass I've been playing Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 and Halo 3.

Finally finished up Chrono Trigger last week, so I finally got time to fully dive into Fallout. I know. oldish games, but my pile of shame is high and mighty. Other than that, a good bit Ninja Gaiden Black for a replay before Ninja Gaiden 2, a smidgen of some indie games Rev brought up, and a dash of Advance Wars DoR on the side.

Stop being a drama queen. We didn't mock ads, we mocked ad departments and editorial departments sleeping in the same bed. The only way this advert affects Dtoid is that it, y'know, keeps us running.

You any idea how expensive it is to run a successful Web site? Being ad-free is cool and all, and I'd love that, but I'm a realist and don't live in some communist make-believe land. If you don't want our site to close down tomorrow, accept that we need to ads to support the huge traffic we pull, please.

This isn't Hippy Happy Land.

Guys this isnt the first time Dtoid has had annoying ads, but Niero's gotta pay the bills somehow. Not to mention all the lovely herpes free hookers, they dont come cheap you know. Still the robot deals with them in his own way, as seen in the diagram below:

I finished Phantom Hourglass this week - so glad because I think I was starting to get arthritis in my wrist. I was gonna take a break from the DS for a whiles after, but my Mario games arrived today so that may not be an option. Also my R4 DID NOT arrive today so I WONT be trying to figure out how to put a NOT EMU on it.

I finally beat the last puzzle in Professor Layton yesterday, that last damned "Royal Escape" ate hours of time throughout the week, a couple lunch breaks, etc. Now that it's done and I've done both of the downloadable puzzles out so far I'm kinda bummed. T'was a fun little game, and I'll definitely nab the sequel.

I also finally borrowed the Orange Box from my brother and played through Portal. Good times were had, GLaDOS rocks. I've only barely started the Half-Life portion... And I've played me some Rock Band...
