It's time for more Tonetta! This is Dale North's second favorite Tonetta song, MMM MAMA, which recently returned to Youtube after an undeserved hiatus. As the official fan blog for Tonetta, Destructoid is thrilled to see justice served and this classic tune back in the public domain where it belongs. All is right once more.
Anyway, videogames were played this week, yet again. Let's look at what ones, eh?
Chester: Well, because I write about videogames, that means I play videogames all day long. What that translates to is that I played about an hour of Mass Effect 1 this week, and I'm not entirely sure I like it. But I will complete it, because by all accounts, people who didn't like the first game tell me that the sequel is amazing.
Nicholson: If only BioWare made you push "Circle" fourteen times to loot bodies ...
Sterling: Amusingly, I did the same thing as Nick this week. I have been replaying Mass Effect to see if I can make myself like it enough to get the sequel. I will say I'm getting into it slightly more than I did last time, but it's still too early to fully rescind my earlier statements on the game. I also spent a long time playing Aliens vs. Predator but, well, we all know the story now.
Also been playing Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce for review, and I think the online play has really given the title more life. That said, it's great fun being called a "faggot" when I enter online mode because I chose the Vega-like Zhang He for my character. This was on PS3 as well, not via the usual hub of homophobia that is Xbox Live. Still, what I've started to do is follow the homophobes around and pretend that I am bumming them. That really freaks them out. They also hate it when I totally kick their ass at the game. They don't like being beaten by a "queer", apparently.
Also, finally playing Sonic CD and struggling to see what all the fuss is about.
North: After a short run of PS3 RPGs, I'm back to the DS and Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. I think this game is longer than the PS3 RPGs. Also, even though I already had it for Xbox 360, I bought Zuma for PS3. It plays so much better on PS3. Control is tighter, and the Xbox version is buggy and sometimes freaks out on the directional control. Finally, I'm also replaying Valkyria Chronicles in preparation for the sequel.
Tolentino: Most of my console play has been devoted to Last Rebellion, but I've been rather polygamist (pun intended) on the PC, with Dragon Age, Mass Effect 1, and the Bad Company 2 beta all sharing some my time. Of particular note is Bad Company 2, which so far has some of the best sound design I've heard in a game. I'm no audiophile, but my play experience has never been more improved by awesome sound as in this case. Seriously. If you're playing the demo, just stand around during a game some time and try to hear something explode nearby.
Razak: I've been playing pack my 360 into a box and ship it off to Microsoft so they can repair it. It's an awesome game that I'm glad I paid $300 to play.
Chester: Instead, BioWare decide to not tell me how anything in the game works or where to go. Ever.
Concelmo: I have to agree with Nick Chester and say Dante's Inferno is a really good time. I beat it this week and, while it is obviously a God of War rip-off, it doesn't take away from the fact that it is a really fun game.
Also started on BioShock 2 and loving it. Not as good as the original (Captain Obvious!), but still a moody, haunting experience.
Oh, also Endless Ocean: Blue World for the Wii, which I ... eh, you will have to wait until Monday for my review! Woo hoo!
Ross: The new Miles Edgeworth game and Starcraft II. Nothing else. Both rule.
Grim: I got Beautiful Katamari for some reason and have been playing it incessantly. In my defense, I don't own a PlayStation 3, and I had never played a Katamari game before. I also got P.B. Winterbottom the day it came out and proceeded to play it to completion. Being in the top ten on a bunch of the challenge room leaderboards was pretty rad, even though my scores have almost certainly been pushed way down since Wednesday.
Holmes: Helped a friend get her Wii online and played Tomena Sanner, Bit.Trip BEAT, Excitebike: World Rally, Super Mario Bros 3, and New Super Mario Bros Wii in the same sitting. I forgot how hard BEAT can be on multi-player. I also realized how spoiled I've gotten with New Super Mario Bros Wii's multi-player. Playing Mario 3 with just one person seemed downright dull compared to NSMBWii.
I vote for Nintendo to put out Super Mario All-Stars Wii with multi-player added to all six of Mario's prior 2D outings. Such a collection would sell no less than ten million copies worldwide, and make many people very happy. They could charge $100 for the game and it would still sell like crazy.
Speaking of All-Stars, I also put in some more time with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars this week. Still main-ing Frank West, still getting my ass kicked, and still having fun while I do it.
Sarkar: I bought the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Rubber Soul (full albums) DLC for The Beatles: Rock Band and proceeded to play through both albums on Hard drums. I'm going to tackle Expert vocals next. Otherwise, I didn't do much gaming this week aside from the now-requisite round or two every other night of the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo. I'm conflicted about that game: the Squad Rush mode is limited for a month to GameStop pre-orders only, and I have a standing policy to avoid setting foot inside a GameStop if I can help it. WHAT DO I DO?!
Grim: Just don't pre-order it, and we can play all of the other modes for a month. No biggie!

Meet the rest of the team
I played Vampire Savior, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter IV (got my ass kicked) and just got and started playing TvC. It's good so far! I also played botch the Computer Science midterm, that was not fun.
I bought Two Worlds today. I plan on trekking through that for the week so I can have something to talk about during the guest editor spot olfor the PAX contest I'm totally going to win.
This week I didn't play too many games. I was too busy writing a song for the PAX East contest I'm totally going to fucking win. You hear me Hamza!? I accept your challenge! I EAT SHARKS FOR BREAKFAST!
My 360 red ringed tonight and I can't find my PS2 power chord. So while last week was filled with Bioshock 2, and next week I was looking forward to Bad Company 2, it's looking like my immediate gaming future is bleak. I'm thinking I might buy a wii.
Uh I been playing too much BioShock 2 mulitplayer, but I have finished with it for now. Also dropped into some BF:1943 since a friend bought it as the Deal of the Week. Twice over the weekend my 360 totally froze during a game, losing 35 minutes of BioShock 2 and ending a game of BF:1943 for me. I don't care much if my 360 RRoDs or whatever, I'd just like it to get it the fuck over and done with instead of drawing it out. If I take too long to die I urge somebody to just finish me off.
Finished No More Heroes 2 early in the week, I think... Its great, if a little not great. In many cases, the style appropriately compensated for the (in good and bad ways) ocassional lack of substance.
Got LBP updated with water, kind of impressive.
Finished Brutal Legend, which ended right around when I was getting frustrated with the RTS-ish stuff.
On the last levels of a Boy and His Blob. I feel guilty for wanting this game to eb over. Its intensely charming, but I think I've had my fill.
Mega Man 9 w/ ProtoMan, Bit.Trip Void, Cream Wolf, that robot unicorn canabalt clone, PB Winterbottom (I think I see what they're doing there), Chime (Aah Aah Aah Aah) and Final Fantasy XI for 360 (6 hours to install, 10 hours of playtime so far, I'm not sure I monthly-subscription-like it yet) round out my gaming week.
I'm just going to watch the FFXIII international trailer over and over til it comes out (the Leona Lewis song isn't THAT bad).
And I've been finishing up achievements on games I'm trading in for purchase of said Final Fantasy.
I am happy that I finally finished with that ODST Endure achievement. Getting 4 people to cooperate in holding back wave after wave of grenade spamming and hammer wielding covenant is something I hope I never have to do again.
Hey Jim, think you might pick up Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing this week. The demo is actually pretty good. And the game fills a good niche on the system.
Played Chrono Trigger on the DS this week (enjoying it so far), while I patiently wait for my copies of God Hand and Beyond Good and Evil to arrive in the mail.
I was playing this week some Hustle Kings, Trine that I purchased 2 weeks ago. Also a lot of FIFA 10 in manager mode and Miles Edgeworth. Also playing that Yakuza 3 Demo and Heavy Rain Demo before I go to sleep every night. Just waiting for this week to pick up Heavy Rain and hoping when EA will put FIFA Ultimate Team add-on, also buying a PSN Card to pick up Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 before the 7.49 sale ends.
Played DJ Hero at a local Best Buy, playing songs on medium is alright, but I have no idea what the hell I'm doing when playing on anything higher than that. Went back home so I could play some rhythm games where I actually know what I'm doing, played some Megadeth on Rock Band 2 all weekend long.
Also got flOw, like I've read from some places, it does feel like a tech demo and I have heard Flower was better, so I'll probably jump on that soon.
I haven't picked my definitive main team yet, although Zero is favorite character.
I'm still deciding who is going to pair up with him. I'm between Karas, Tekkaman Bladea and Ippatsuman. Most characters of the Tatsunoko universe are so awesome and fun to play, it's hard to choose.
And I haven't unlocked Joe the Condor yet.
My PS3 deleted ALL of my Brutal Legend data (except the trophies). Kinda frustrating as I was about halfway through collecting everything, but I guess at some point I'll just replay it on Gentle or Brutal so I can sweep up the rest of the trophies I can care to get. Played some MvC2 since a whole new wave of players just came in and now I'm waiting for Puzzle Fighter to go on sale next week. I'm in the final stretch of Psychonauts on the PC and its still as awesome as I remember it. I <3 Dr. Loboto.
Finally, I started on making a spreadsheet of all my games to see what I have and what I've finished. There's alot of retro games on that list that I have not completed, and half of them I probably should've by now. I'm also starting on not-"backing up" my retro library so I won't have to take them to college with me. Maybe I can get one of those Dingoo things, but for now, my macbook and $0.50 disney brand controller will do just fine.
@Jack Maverick
I got flOw for free last week, and it is a glorified tech demo. It looks nice, is very calming, but controls as well as a common Wii game. Flower is all those things except it controls better and there's less of a "thrown to the wolves" sensation. I highly recommend it.
My friend loves with Joe the Condor. He doesn't really use him, but he likes using (the) gun and bird missile for novelty.
Also, he stands like he's drunk.
Finally acquired Castle Crashers and have been playing that non-stop. my god, it is amazing- especially with three other people on the couch with me. Reminds me of the N64 glory days.
Can't wait for the weekend, when my friends and I can play it again. So much fun.
I've been working on a RFGO vid because works been way to stressful and I needed to geek the fuck out. So I've been brushing up on my video game history through youtube videos instead of actually playing them. This is mostly because I don't have access to my 360 as everytime I think of touching it my wife jumps in front of me and starts playing Mass Effect 2 while I'm forced to leave the room to avoid any spoilers. Maybe that's the real reason I'm doing the vid...
I did get a chance to play a bit of Mass Effect, and I entered the DLC way too early on hard with all the respawning enemies kicking my ass. I also got Raw Danger for the PS2 in from Goozex and played the tutorial for a bit, and it looks very promising.
I also played some Silent Hill 2 and don't know what the fuss is about with that game. Course the internet has spoiled the game so much that any time the guy speaks I just repeat what I heard was the ending over and over and over. So that kinda sucks.
I beat Mass Effect 2 for the seventh time. No joke.
I also finally started Dragon Age, but I find it difficult to get into after going all batshit bonkers on ME2. It's my fault, for certain, but I may have to do something mindless before I have the serious sit down with it.
Dante's Inferno just isn't doing it for me. It isn't poorly made, it's just boring.
Replaying RE5 and got the DLC it was actually fun and felt more like a resident evil game. I'm selling myself so I can get the money to buy FF13 and star ocean couple of more ZJ's and I'm there.
Playing through Bioshock 2 once more, this time taking the Heartless Bastard approach and harvesting/killing everyone while playing on Hard sans Vita-Chambers. So far it's not terribly frustrating. Still a great game. Gotta find all those Audio Diaries.
Also finishing up Retro Game Challenge. Guadia Quest is surprisingly fun and way more forgiving than the predecessors it attempts to imitate. Thankfully so.
I also beat flOw, which is a game that was free, and started playing flower, which is a better game that cost five dollars because love.
I've got plenty of to-dos before Final Fantasy XIII hits, including Final Fantasy VIII, Persona 4, and I've always got room for more Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
Playing modern warfare reflex edition. The ak-47 rapes but marterdom is all over the place. Also I don't get to snipe as often since the wii is terrible when sniping. I also rented Halo Legends with is pretty cool.
I played get your Steam account hijacked for a good portion of the week, though I have it back now. Finally survived Blood Harvest on Expert in Left 4 Dead for the first time before that though; got genuinely scared during the climax, was legitimately shaking in my desk chair(God I love that game).
I also spent some time with The Void. I'm about an hour or so in. I would assume that this is before you run into the crap design, 'cause I have been really enjoying it.
Also, spent some time with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, got my ass handed to me by Ckarasu online, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. Got 5 endings in Arcade mode, so I guess I'm not doing too bad.
Finally, spent an hour or two with Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer on my 360 to see what the fuss is about, and its definately the most fun I've ever had in a military FPS online. I guess all these issues people have been complaining about are outside of deathmatches, because I had a blast.
I'm trying to concentrate on 1 game at a time while slowly waorking through my backlog. I just finished Darksiders last night and loved it, thought I'd go for a slower game this time so started Dragon Age, not that impressed in the first hour, but I will stick with it ..... Mainly cos I didn't like the 1st hour of Darksiders either5 but grew to love that game, also I don't think I have not liked a Bioware game.
Also should really finish some handheld games I'm playing Mario & Luigi BIT & Crimson Saga
Finished God of War Collection in preparation for the third one next month. I didn't expect to get through both of them as fast as I did but I was pretty into it.
I recently got WWE Day of Reckoning for the GC, so I've been playing a lot of that while I seriously evaluate whether or not I should even purchase another PS3 after mine YLOD'd on me a month ago. Like DaedHead8, also considering getting a Wii.
I JUST POWER BOMBED A FUCKING DRAGON. DID YOU READ THAT SENTENCE CORRECTLY? A FUCKING [b]DRAGON[b] WAS SLAMMED TO THE GROUND BY THIS WOMAN'S TWO HANDS.
Awesome game. Very reminiscent of DMC (obviously), and almost as technical. I absolutely love the little nods to all the various Capcom and Sega games. It's unbelievable how subtle they are.
My favorite Rodin line: "If you bring me enough of these Halos I can buy you a ticket to space... I always wanted to be a Bald Space Marine"
I've been stuck spending the last two weeks playing "naia needs to get through her midterms" which has taken time out of video game playing. With that out of the way though, over the weekend I finished Psychonauts, played a little bit of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 and played some Boom Blox Bash Party at Teknomcr's place.

My typos are getting worse and worse.
MAG. I've just started playing it, and it's pretty fun. I play SVER.
TvC. Only got a bit of it in. Still fun as hell.
In order, two missions left, not even close, and about half way.
Loving the AVP multiplayer.

Finished Mario & Luigi: PiT, and I'm on my way on New Super Mario Bros.
Typos, what'cha gonna do?
Not proof-read, not on the internet. That's for sure.
Oh, and Tatsunoko vs Capcom once in a while. Zero + Karas = pwnage.
A very little bit of the Mirror's Edge second play through. I should buy the DLC maps some time soon.
Tried Shattered Horizon, I really liked it, but it needs more content.
Finally progressing in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. I hated Crescent Island so much.
Decided to give Assassin's Creed a second chance after my rage of months ago. So far so good.
Also got flOw, like I've read from some places, it does feel like a tech demo and I have heard Flower was better, so I'll probably jump on that soon.
I haven't picked my definitive main team yet, although Zero is favorite character.

Yeah I've been kinda bored for this past few weeks , I need new games.

FUCKING GENIUS!
Then I'm going to beat Chrono Trigger. I have no excuses (aside from SMT: Devil Survivor) to not give that game at least one full playthrough.
My favourite was always
"Hey, check this out. 'Whaddaya buyin?' heh. Heard that in a game once."
Also I don't know how Dragon Age: Journeys escaped my attention so long. Addictive that. And some Chime to round it out.
Thats weird, after the RRoD last night, I decided to play Day of Reckoning on the GC. o_O
