The
results are in, I've lost my voice from shouting about King Edward potatoes, and Destructoid was FAIL. These are the important facts about the first ever Games Media Awards. Later on, my colleague David Houghton will have what you're all waiting for, video evidence and a wad of pictures (yes I took the damn monocle), but for now you're stuck with me.
Yes, Destructoid lost out to UK: Resistance for best non-commercial Web site. I'm not going to say that geopolitics were involved ... but of the nominees throughout the night, only one winner was from a non-British Web site. Of course, I am not bitter, but I knew UK: Resistance was taking it and if we did have to be beaten, I'm glad it was at least by those crazy wankers. How about showing other countries some love next year though, eh?
Big congratulations to Eurogamer for cleaning house and for at least one of them being quite nice. Hit the jump for the full results that Justin V pointed me in the direction of, because I was too drunk to remember anything but burlesque dancers and someone throwing up. Also, stay tuned for David and the all-important pictures.

I'll shoot you in the fucking head, Jim Sterling.
Anyway, it must be bad that I didn't even know this thing existed until this morning. Shame on me. Damn work and things getting in the way of life.
Why are we watching Brock Lesner jacking himself up with a half-assed flip?
Seriously the site looks worse than Destructoid did back in the day.
We were fuckin robbed.
And hey, UK: Resistance looks lame at first glance, and their writing isn't what you'd call professional, but they're damn funny and their Blue Sky in Games campaign rocks. Like I say, I think Dtoid deserved a win, but if we had to lose to a Brit site, there was none better to lose to.
That sentence has never existed till today. We were really rooting for dtoid too, and the video is blank for me. :(
Cereally, Brandon beat me to it.
Also, congratulations to Eurogamer, I agree that they're probably the best of the commercial sites.
Also, we still love you Destructoid, even if you didn't win.
Also, cocks.
Much love to dtoid and Jim. No it's not our fault. I blame McDonalds.
Also, *le sigh*
YOU SNEAKY BRIT!! YOUVE BEEN WORKING FOR THE RESISTANCE ALL ALONG!!!
-calls up his Russian mob connections-
Sorry comrade, but there is no room for failure in mother Russia.
Not being given an award at the Games Media Awards does not mean one is fail. It's practically a badge of honour. We are hated by many and loved by the few that matter.
DESTRUCTOID IS WIN, despite the outcome of superficial awards ceremonies. See?
Robbed.
It's ok, we will win it next year.
The content on both sites is decent to great though.
Don't say things you can't possibly mean.
I think its time for me to stop. I passed out (apparently), threw up everywhere and basically made Jim, David & CAG guy's night a hell. I am not very good at drinking lol.Think I went down a rank :P
Oh well, better luck next year.
