Games Ghostbusters play: Q*Bert photo

Having spent an hour or so with a preview build of Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters for the Xbox 360 this afternoon, I've come to one conclusion -- busting ghosts isn't all fun and games. Okay, well, it is actually kind of fun...

But when the Ghostbusters do kick back and relax, who do they call? Well, Q*Bert, apparently. Sitting inside the Ghostbusters HQ -- the fire station from the films, of course -- is a full-sized, classic Q*Bert arcade cabinet. While the game prompts you to interact with it, sadly it's not playable. Peter Venkman Ph.D. prefers playings the fictional arcade top-down shooter, Moonstrosity X; I'm unclear as to whether or not that's playable, because he's addicted and won't get off the thing.

Check back next week for actual game impressions and details on the first few missions of Ghostbusters, after I make my way through more of the game.

Pfft, if anything, Pac-Man should be there instead. That actually has ghosts you can attack (or eat, whatever). Or even Galaga since...well, it's Galaga.

Odd choice I'd say. And I just noticed this now but holy crap is that proton pack detailed.

Will it be available in the final build? I mean, they clearly already got the right to put the image of it in the game, I don't suppose it would be any more difficult to get the actual game in as well.

I like when they add bonus games that barely even have anything to do like when they added Donkey Kong and Jetpac on Donkey Kong 64.

Anybody remember Prey? There was a whole bunch of arcade games you can play in-game in the bar.

i would honestly be very surprised if this was not playable in the final build (guessing this is from the not final build). i mean, if they go through all the trouble of making the machine so detailed, why wouldnt they?

If you go back and watch Ghostbusters as they leave to go to the hotel to catch Slimer, if you look in the background you can see they have a Q*Bert machine as well as another arcade game. (I think it was Star Castle)

So all I can say is, holy shit at the attention to detail! I'm so glad I got to play the demo at New York Comic Con, it was a hell of a lot of fun on both the PS3/360 and Wii versions.

One of the head Atari reps said they would be releasing a demo on Live and PSN in June, but I haven't heard anybody else say that, so hopefully he wasn't lying because I can't wait to play this again.

@MoonJump86:

Hey, I didn't know that re the Q*Bert machine in the movie. Very detailed, and very cool to see it in the game. :D Re a demo, I don't know if one will be released, but I've played a consumer demo of the game before; not sure if those plans were scrapped.

@Dexter:

From what I understand, it won't be playable in the final build, as they simply didn't have the time to get it in. Also, as a side note, it's my understanding that Atari owns the rights to Q*Bert. HD remake, anyone?
