Normally we wouldn't run a video featuring an editor of another games Web site, but this one is worth showing. 1UP EiC James "Milkman" Mielke pops on over to Japan to ask Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu and Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano for help with his wedding proposal.
First he goes to Uematsu's house, with its musical note railings and all. Check out Uematsu's music collection in the background. Wow. And his sound system. Damn. And a Fender Rhodes? What a pimp.
Mielke asks Uematsu to compose a piece to be played at his wedding. He agrees to throw something together on his out-of-tune piano. First off, it's pretty awkward the cameraman is filming him at work. Uematsu is definitely not feeling that. And, although he's one of my musical heroes, I have to say that the opening progression to his composition sounds like the Christmas classic "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire."
Later, he asks Amano to draw something, like a picture of a ring. Amano actually offers to design a ring. That probably wasn't Mielke's original idea, but talk about bragging rights! Things start to get a bit douchey when he talks about how it will all go down, and it's hard not to feel embarrassed when Amano is ducking out of the way of the camera.
Not the smoothest video, man, but good work. Kudos for going all-out for your girl. That's pretty sweet of you. Hopefully she doesn't see your video online.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The 'douchey' refers to some of the things he said, not his happiness. I'd never poop on someone's happiness.
Reminded of how former ZiffDavis employee (Now at Insomniac) Bryan "Fragile Eagle" Intahar wanted Tetsuya Nomura to design his wedding tux. Imagine all those zippers...
I wish them the greatest happiness.
He does sound kind of over-confident at the table with Amano, but I guess if he knows the girl well enough to marry her, he knows what she'll like and how she's going to react to it.
weirdfantastic videogame-related proposals as of late?
