Gamer's screaming triggers SWAT team response photo

When I first saw this story, I thought it was old news from Copenhagen, where a SWAT team hilariously responded to the sounds of gunfire coming from a loud PS3. However, it's happened again. A woman was out walking and heard screams coming from a New Jersey house. She did the natural thing and phoned for the professionals, but when they got there, it all went a bit daft.

Upon police arrival, the resident of the house refused to let them in, explaining that the screams were caused by a videogame session. He was said to be "irrational" at this point, and when more cops arrived, he threatened them and slammed the door in their faces.

Cops had to speak with the man through open windows, and then the SWAT Team arrived. Seriously.

Eventually, the man left his abode peacefully, and currently awaits psychological examination at the Somerset Medical Center. This makers the second time in history that an armed response team has had to interrupt a man's gaming session. Not quite as funny as the Danish incident, but still pretty brilliant.

That he shut the door in their faces was hilarious. Yeah, you can't ragequit a SWAT incursion.

I think the moral of this story is that women walking on the streets of New Jersey need to mind their fucking business.

Don't the police have to leave if they don't have a warrant? Vote Sterling for U.S. House of Representatives!

Don't even get me started on the police in this state....

They're like....every cop in every state.

Annoying as fuck, overpaid, and there are way too many in suburban areas compared to "urban" areas.

I don't blame the guy, if it were me I'd tell them to gtfo.

I imagine things could have gotten bloodier if the guy refused to listen to the police...

There are ways cops can break into your home without a warrant. But in this case the guy kind of had it coming. All the dolt had to do was put the game down, come out and talk to police, maybe let them see what he was doing, and promise to keep it down, even if he had no intention of doing so. Police leave, all is well. But no the fuck took the high and mighty road, fuck tha police, slam doors in their face, basically he gave them reasons to take him in. Don't underestimate the power of stupidity.

Not sure why he is under going an exam. I would refuse to cooperate. I didn't call you to my house, and I told you what was going on. Now unless I was exceeding the db limit, there is no need for any forced exams, etc.

You legally have a right to deny police entry into your homes under all circumstances, except when they have a warrant, or possible cause. In the latter they can simply enter without permission anyway.

I would have done the same, and explained to them that they were retards for wasting valuable city resources over my geeking out on a video game.

If SWAT 4 taught me anything, it's that cops have a hard time entering building without being shot up in a doorway. No wonder they didn't react to him slamming a door on them. They probably bricked it.

If you're doing something perfectly legal in your home, let the police enter and speak with you instead of doing what this moron did. Probably would have had a nice little laugh and had gone on their way.

Then when they leave, you can find the twit that called them and use your murder-skills you learned in video games to kill her.

They don't need a warrant if someone's life could be in danger. Screaming from a house is enough reason.

@KIDA26, you forgot the Call of Duty 4 kids yelling racists slurs every time they die.
Ha ha, this story is hilarious. People are taking gaming a little too seriously.

It's awesome that zer0faults posted right after Corak.

One post describes the right way to handle the situation, the other describes how to imply that you are looking for a full cavity search.

Please provide your address and the next time you plan to "geek out" and I'm sure someone here can give you a chance to be the paragon of legal rights....

There are some things worth standing up for and some things that just require a bit of effort to avoid a misunderstand that just MIGHT get you stuck in a cell with Bubba the ArsePounding Red Kneck...

He could have just opened his door and gone back to his game... they couldn't really have arrested him then, but could have followed him in and watched him play.

... and playing with an audience is just that much more fun!

On its face I would have to question the legality of the police's actions, I think more information is needed. Zer0faults is right that you have a constitutional right to deny the police entry into your home. It may not exactly be the most pragmatic thing to do but you have that right. Probable cause isn't enough to gain entry into a home though, PC is the threshold to get a warrant. The only time police may enter a home without a warrant are when there are exigent circumstances, such as evidence that will be lost or a life in danger. Clearly this guy either overreacted in some manner though for the SWAT to continue to pester him till he came out.

Surely someone had police called on them for loud sex. I guess it's different when some racist kid is screaming about raping someone.

Check the article. The genius in question actually threatened the police and then barricaded his home.

Again, screaming crazy man yells threats at the police and barricades himself. No one knows what he has inside or what he's planning to do. Goddamn right SWAT is going to be involved.

The whole thing ended peacefully and the man is no doubt getting the help he needs. The police did everything right.
