Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

This video, created by photographer Robbie Cooper for The New York Times, showcases the various faces kids make as they're playing videogames. Everyone's faces are different, from some looking immersed, some looking bored, and so on. One kid even cries a little bit, but that might be because he wasn't blinking. Actually, I noticed quite a few of these kids not blinking at all.

I hate playing videogames in front of other people. Why, you ask? Because I unconsciously leave my mouth open when I play like a couple of these kids. I don't know why I do it, it just happens.

Do any of you make weird faces when playing games? Show us your gamer face in the comments!

A lot of those games seem to be M-rated...

I don't think the kids would be playing that. pre-pubescent kids yelling they want to knife stuff ain't that cute. And was one of the kids crying??

When I play games, my expression is one of abject terror, my mouth fixed open in an endless, silence scream.

Shit, are video games really that saturated with violence? That was scary to see. Especially when it's the younger ones seemingly being elated by all the violence...

I lost it when the shaggy headed kid yelled "GODDAMMIT". How funny. (:

And wtf was up with the zombie chick? Seriously creepy.

When I play games I tend to kind of scowl and sometimes I forget to close my mouth. I also tend to talk to the game. And, depending on how I'm fairing, there might be a lot of cursing.

Good job let a bunch of impressionable little (apparently a few terrible) little kids play games they shouldn't be playing New York Times.

The kid starting at 2:23 is the reason why playing Xbox Live is so annoying.

It's also funny to see how shocked the comments are about kids that age playing 'M' rated games. You'd be seriously surprised to know how many kids' parents don't give a crap and will buy anything for them.

Honestly, I sold a copy of Left 4 Dead to a lady and her son this afternoon, and he couldn't have been more than 13. I've had parents buy their 6 year olds San Andreas. And, if we were really honest, how many of us played games comparable to that in our youths? I get the shock factor to an extent. But maybe I'm just jaded. :/

How about parents looking over your shoulder, their reaction(I want fun). How about people's reaction when watching movies of any kind (porn). How come they are playing a game while their background is black, no family home? You can't even tell if they are actually playing a video game or not. Where is the controller?

I am part of the not blinking crowd, I was replaying Metal Arms recently and got around half way thought the game... To realize that I haven't blinked during the time.

My eyes were hurting pretty badly.

I must be one of the only people who doesn't either look like he's masturbating or mentally retarded, while playing. I believe my facial expressions range from "slight smile" to "slight grimace." It's rare that it escalates beyond that.

My game face depends on my relation to the tv: if I have to look up I have the gaping jaw (my gf is quick to point this out >.\\) otherwise my face is neutral or a slight smile depending on the game.

Depending on what I'm playing my face changes. For example: when I'm playing guitar hero/rock band my mouth hangs open, or sometimes it falls open to a silly extent. If I'm playing an RPG generally I'm either emotionless or scowling.

Where I'm playing also effects the faces I make, differently depending on what I'm playing. If I'm at my friend's house and playing Lost Odyssey I'm far more likely to scowl, probably because my friend is an infuriating backseat gamer. Whereas if I'm at home I'm far more likely to have a straight face.

I, too noticed that there was an overabundance of gunfire, shitty music, and explosions. That means no RPGs. If they're going to do stuff like this it should be all-inclusive.
