Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

We've actually known about the fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was coming to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade for some time, but because of emargoes and empty promises, we never were really allowed to say much. Well, now the cat's out of the bag, as video is now up of the title in action. Looking good, huh?

I love this game! This was one of the first games that I ever played. I can't believe you guys hear about XBLA games before they are announced. Do you hear about all of them and how long have you known about this one?

The arcade version is now rumored to be up on Microsoft’s PartnerNet service. The game is a port of the original with the addition of achievements, 4 player co-op online and offline. Screenshots were leaked on February 23, 2007.[1

It's actually unrelated to the NES game. The arcade TMNT came out the same year as the TMNT game for NES (headed to the Virtual Console, apparently), so it's easy to assume it's a port. However, TMNT II: The Arcade Game is an NES port of the arcade game. After that, there was a TMNT III for NES as a direct-sequel to the arcade game, then TMNT: Turtles in Time for the arcades and SNES.

TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist was for Genesis and built off of Turtles in Time, and then the last game based on the original series was TMNT: Tournament Fighters for SNES and Genesis. Plus, there were 3 bad GB games.

I'm sure these games will continue appearing on Xbox Live and the Virtual Console the closer we get to the movie. Now, how about an Xbox Live port of the old Simpsons arcade game?

@ Wolverine and electro lemon

Wikipedia says that Turtles in Time was originally an arcade game and was later ported to SNES. So it's entirely possible that it could appear on both consoles.

I also see no reason why Turtle II and III shouldn't appear on VC alongside the Genesis's Hyperstone Heist. (Although I guess Turtles II isn't necessary, since it's just a port of the arcade TMNT.)

Well if Ubisoft and Konami are hand in hand on this, how about putting these games in that new TMNT game too which at least looks promising than the recent Konami TMNT games (stinks that I have to buy those games just to unlock to goodies that are the arcade games).
