Gamejew: from Parappa to X-Play

4:11 PM on 02.18.2007   |   Niero

Destructoid's theme song singer Jonathan Mann has put together a video chronicle of his life's work, covering his work with G4, a 3-year-story that culminated in writing the X-Play Musical. You can hear all the songs the gaming songs he's written over the years, including Unscrewed, Goodbye G4TV.com, selected song from "Xmen the Musical", cover of level 1 from Parappa The Rapper, and What's up Japan (Godzilla). If you've ever aspired to get your video game music on TV, this candid look at one man's slow and persistant rise to production cuts should be inspiring, if not entertaining.

PS. Don't make plans on Tuesday night. More on that later.

A true story of perseverance in the unholy wasteland that is Hollywood.

it might just be me in my naive ignorance of cultures outside of south florida, but that guy sounds as gay as a sequined jean jacket and tossing salad. my question is, do all "jews" sound like that, or is he just a different flavor?

As a quirky segment, I enjoyed it... but as a musical theatre nut, I find almost no love for that style of writing. Saying a handful of lines in a comedic voice doesn't make it a song.

But I am crazily analytical, so I assume it only bothers me.

I didn't enjoy that. I should just walk away and not say anything but.. DAMN.

I find it also really pathetic that he plays the "I'm a jew" card to get any sort of attention or reaction, but don't worry xrayne, most of us don't sound like that. Only the threatre jews who were outcasted when growing up and had to make self-hating jew jokes to make friend.

And Itchie we don't run Hollywood! If we did there would be a lot more Hannukah movies and less Christmas ones! ;-D
