Pages upon pages of high-quality glossy pics. This was pre-internet, so it was a big deal back then.
Very interesting to see Gamefan and EGM rise from their graves. The world of print is still a bad place to be.
I still like to read a magazine now and again, I get Modern Drummer in physical form still as it's a great resource for teaching drum lessons, but as far as popular music mags or video game mags or news mags I get all my info from them there intertubes and that's fine by me.
Books are a different story though, I like to hold my books and turn my pages dammit.
Still, I think that's a low class move.
I used to subscribe to PLAY, then when they went under they never sent us an email or even a post on their website.
I wanted to call them for a change of address because I had just moved but no one answered the phone, or emails.
Obviously no one ever got their money back and they used it to launch this new mag so they're never seeing another dollar from me.
On top of that the people I liked best in the mag like Nick des Barres left and Dave who is EIC also writes most of the reviews in the new mag, which I would argue is a big no-no.
In any case you guys would be much better off getting the new EGM.
Not to mention halverson is in ecstasy over Sonic and Sega. And goes waaay over the top on his reviews.
If it isn't true, then print more I guess.
Will I start giving this a read? No, it's Gamefan by name alone and i doubt they'll recreate the same feeling the original had.
