Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

Destructoid loves the Gamecock -- and how could we not love them? We're very similar in a lot of ways you know. Gamecock and Destructoid both share awesome mascots, we both believe strongly in the indie, we're both insane as hell and we both have very hardcore fans.

Take the case of these two fan made videos promoting Gamecock. The creator of the videos was so inspired by everything Gamecock stood for, he just had to make something for them. The result is something that is quite beautiful in a very demented way.

The first video is called Develop and is described as:

For "Develop" my original tagline was something like, “Gamecock, the Short and Curlies of Your Second Puberty”. Point being, we all have the potential to grow. Gamecock, (by virtue of its own existence) just shoots some lightning up your butt to make it happen. Look at me. Before Gamecock inspired me, I kept my imagination to myself. Now the entire www must share my curse.

Hit the jump to check out Choose Life and a little diary from the creator on the back story on these awesome videos.

Whether it was Gamecock’s plucky chutzpah or the Je ne sais quoi charm of a man in a rooster mask I’ll never know, but one way or another this starry-eyed idea machine found its way into my heart and there it stayed and laid eggs.

Such strokes of PR Perestroika like the E-3 Funeral and the impromptu pirates vs. ninjas dodgeball rally in Seattle made me wonder: How I could be a part of all this creative glasnost Gamecock is handing down to the masses?

The answer seemed obvious enough. It was time to draw sea captains growing boobs and office workers sprouting unicorn horns.

I decided to email them accordingly. In great detail and without cursing I explained why a series of animated web films from me would be a really fantastic business idea. I included hand-made charts, DNA “samples”, and some rather candid photos of myself for added effect. Then I made a cheese sandwich.

For some reason, Mike Wilson emailed me back. I’m surprised he had time to read the entire 29-page email. He told me to just go for it. If he liked what I came up with, he’d buy it. This was the right answer.

Gamecock’s naïve trust in me was more than enough to keep me going through those dark lonesome nights. Cue montage set to keyboards: Here we see me in my lucky rhinestone unitard; drawing, scanning, pasting, writing, fighting off a really wicked-looking banshee with a flame thrower, drawing again, eating more cheese sandwiches, and eventually, animating two epic tales depicting the mighty Gamecock in all his glory.

“Choose Life” tells the futuristic-old-timey-space-tale of how Gamecock has come to bring life to the arid moonscape of this once creative industry.

What's that song from in the first video? It seems so familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. I'm racking my brain, somebody spoil it for me, damnit...

Nice, very nice.

The second video gave me flashbacks to the movie Raising Arizona. All in thanks to the brilliant choice of music to accompany it.
