Gamecock's Mike Wilson announces running mate

This video has moved! Try our Destructoid HD Youtube channel After the news announcement yesterday that Gamecock president Harry Miller was boldly supporting current ESA prez Mike Gallagher rather than his business partner, Mike Wilson, the general consensus around the Dtoid offices was that someone was pulling our chain. It wasn't the news so much as the statements issued by Wilson and Miller that seemed .. almost comedic. Here's a snippet from Wilson's statement to Game Informer:

"My fellow game industrians, I ask you to look past all the noise and mud slinging you're likely to see and hear as we approach the all important Los Angeles primary next week, and our BE-3 initiative, taking place very near the belly of the current administration's beast in the LA Convention center.

"Let's stick to the issues, and if there is ever a doubt in your mind of whether we can truly shake this industry out of its depressingly stale corporate doldrums, the answer is YES WE AM!!"

This morning, Wilson followed up on the action by releasing the above video announcing his running mate, Douglas Michael Wilson. A mystery man! Obviously, this race is serious business. Hey Gamecock, thanks for being some of the only people in the business that still have a mind for fun. There's only a few of our kind left around these parts.

Dementium was pretty damned good (IGN DS shooter of the year/best graphics), considering they are just over a year old. Mushroom Men looks pretty promising too.

I'm with BluFire. It's pretty annoying that it autoplays.

If they had a mind for fun, they'd have released a halfway decent title by now. As of yet, they have not and should shut their mouths until they do.

Now if only they'd release a good game...the I'd actually have a reason to care about what the President of Gamecock says or does.

At least they've learned to try and be funny on their own time and not someone
else's.

Gamecock needs to do a hell of a lot more than this to overshadow their crap stunts from the past year or two. Something along the lines of putting out some games comprised of pure awesome while shutting up and acting like they're older than 12. Until that glorious day comes, I don't think I'll be able to see them as anything other than the immature attention whores of the videogame world.

It's time for Gamecock to put up or shut up.

his campaign has been too fucking stupid, even for a guy who liked their Spike TV and E3 appearances.

I'm sorry, but I do not find any of this charming or funny or endearing at all. Gamecock is trying to make a name for themselves by being "rebellious" and "wacky," but this is the games industry: You make your name by releasing good products. So far, they've done nothing even remotely worthwhile. If you're going to crow, you better back it up with some substance.

Destructoid wouldn't be worth a shit, if it was all cocks and RickRolls, without the good writers and good people. Then it would just look like a second-rate 4chan, without the train-wreck factor. You can't just fart around and hope to get by on that alone. (Er, unless you're 4chan, I guess.) Gamecock doesn't need attention, they need better games.
