Oh dear god. Gamestation won't stock them either?? I hope they don't follow in Game cause then I'll have no where to get cheap PS2 games :(
Wow. I suppose I wasn't explicitly shocked when they said they weren't carrying ME3 (with EA I'm never surprised business shenanigans are afoot), but now with Wrath and SF-X-TK, I find myself more confused. What is GAME not doing that every other major retailer on the planet is doing? Are they just the one company that demands a larger cut of retail profit per unit sold? Nothing seems more detrimental than to, you know, NOT sell games, especially when your name implies that's all you do.
Well I don't know what they can do. If they have been forced to not sell those games because it's cutting into their budget way too much then they should just run. Sell their assets off and make a run for it because a dedicated game store that cannot sell games from major publishers like EA and Capcom is ludicrous. How is anyone going to trust them again?
They wouldn't need to shut down if they were slightly more evil and just outright kept the money they got on pre-orders... Gamestop didn't get to where they are by respecting their, uh, "customer's rights".
I was expecting some kind of domino effect. No stock, no customers, rinse and repeat. I'll be suprised if they make it to the summer, and even then, that'll be the dry season. Doesn't look great.

I can imagine a buy-out happening, whether from Gamestop or another organisation wanting to make money from the dedicated games store industry. I can only hope that this doesn't mean that Supermarkets such as 'Tescos' and 'ASDA' would be the ONLY place to buy games in the future. I like RPGs and 3DS games, and not 'Call of Duty' :(

why is Asura's Wrath so late in the UK anyway? it's almost been out for two weeks in Germany. My theory: all units have been recalled due to the little spelling mistake on the boxes. You know, the "near impossible chanllenges"-one.
It's a shame seeing as GAME and Gamestarion seem to be the only place you can buy old games from the current generation that are not scratched to fuck, and rendered unplayable. If they go out of business then CEX better get its head in the game.
This really sucks, because in Australia, GAME is great, a great and better alternative to EB Games, and Im good friends with the clerks at my local GAME. These stocking issues arent affecting GAME here at all, but if they can the company, it will just extend here

Can't you buy games online like we do in the Netherlands using a price comparison site to index all the places to buy them.
Tried pre-ordering Kid Icarus: Uprising from GAME, said they were out of pre-order allocation. Either it's just really popular, or they ordered very few copies.

Cheeky bastards are still taking preorders for resi evil as of yesterday but I think its safe to say they are fucked.
They also took 4 of my brothers games as trade at the weekend and gave him quite a spectacular price for them.
Can't buy games from publishers to sell them to us but they can buy our games for ridiculous amounts. Seriously, my brother felt like he has just robbed the place.

Funny thing is I can complain about Gamestop right now, even my favorite one that I go out of the way to go to (because its more then a half hour away). Turns out someone they hired at my Gamestop severely screwed up A LOT of peoples pre-orders and they had to fire the person. Problem is they couldn't make right on the pre-orders in spite of the mistake.
Found this out the hard way yesterday when I was in the area and stopped in looking to see if they had the Vita Silicone protectors I was trying to hunt down (the Hori one, Walmart ended up having it). Turns out my Operation Raccoon City Special Edition order was 100% wrong (as in, I wasn't put down for the Special Edition at all) and I was told there was no possibility that I could get it through the store, on release day, because "there was no more".
Went home, found it on their website and will have to pay out the ass for shipping and will have to wait a few days to get it because there was no in store pickup option open for it (Amazon isn't stocking the special edition at all it appears, or else I'd go with them.).
So yeah, there's plenty to complain about with Gamestop. Just because they manage to get games stocked isn't a feat: Its their business. Which is why GAME looks like its going out of it, because they can't even manage to do that any more.

Man, this is turning into a bad comedy. They had to cancel ME3 so gave me a £5 voucher code as compensation, i put it down on Asuras Wrath and now they've cancelled that as well!!

so I quickly pre-ordered a copy from each website
knowing that'd I'd probably get £5 worth of reward
and elite points.
Then today along comes an email from game and game-
station to say they cant supply me with street fighter
x tekken and each give me £5 to spend online.
First thing I did was buy 800 microsoft points from
the game and gamestation website. So I got £10 for
nothing. In future I think I'll pre-order more big
releases from them but keep me debit card empty to
stop them taking any money just in case they can
supply the next big release.

Boy, I hope HMV are paying attention to all this. They're in dire need of some more custom on the high street too, and if they could corner the games market it could make them the place to go. Hell, they alrweady have a head start by actually having games to sell. All they need to do is revamp themselves and aggressively market their new releases in store and online, and it could work out well for them

Every UK gamer - please turn to ShopTo. They have been overlooked by many gamers due to their status as a relatively small online company, but they're always trustworthy with pre-orders and most regular orders are processed and dispatched within hours during normal office hours.
That said, I'm simultaneously happy and sad to see GAME going the way of the dodo. Happy because it was a horrible company with horrible customer care & services, but sad because 6 of the nicest fellow gamers I have met will be losing their jobs when my local store closes.

The irony of the fact that a chain of shops called GAME that does not stock popular GAMES, is too massive to compute.

Guys. I have a confession: I like GameStop. They're not all that bad, and they're willing to buy your games back for some money. That's not awful. Also, what the hell is GAME doing. Seriously.
Gamestation owns GAME, they are one and the same just under different names. From what I have heard from people in the retail business, Gamestation (the owner of the two stores) is in serious financial difficulties (so much for used games sales making them a fat buck) and have asked to buy most of their stock in credit. Publishers such as EA and Capcom have said they can't do that and have refused to sell them any of said titles. I don't know what this says for the future of high street retail stores but it sure as fuck says something about publishers who want their cake and eat it. I will probably just stick with Amazon or Play.com for future purchases.
