Folklore was somewhat flawed but nice concepts. A shame. Hope their employees get a job soon.
Majin is a really awesome game that combines elements of Zelda, ICO, and MGS. It had the misfortune of having a short and terrible demo on Live and PSN. The demo is really misleading about how great the game is.
They had the price cut down. I think it was $40 at launch. At least I remember it that way.
Problem was that no one carried the game. I went to Best Buy and three different GameStop a week after it came out and no one had heard of it or had a copy. I had to order it online.
Its been nearly a decade since the industry moved to a mainstream market model, and the people who we thought back them would get pulled into gaming with Halo, then grow to appreciate smaller more quirky titles never did. They still only want whats popular and instantly gratifying, same as back when they only owned some wrestling titles and Grand Theft Auto.
Folklore was treated as an abomination worthy of non stop ridicule if you were caught playing it by a "hardcore" gamer. What a sad state.
But I did play Majin and had a lot of fun with it. Thought it had a charming story, looked nice and all the elements of the game felt just right when it came to game play.
This stinks. :(
Folklore was an amazing game, one of my favourites. I'm sad to see Game Republic disappear like that. :'(
Now what will I say to my copy of Folklore? How will I say that his dad is gone? The only thing I can do now is reunite Folklore with his cousin by buying Maijin. :(
They have a pretty good track record - better than most. It's not over yet!
agreed with that whole-hardidly. Majin was awesome and just got my brother into it. Folklore is still a gorgeous looking game
Goddamn, this is just so sad.
