Game of Life goes Wii, changes a few things up photo

Hasbro's classic board game The Game of Life (remember that clicky colored wheel?) is making the move to the Nintendo Wii, and Famitsu has some new screenshots from the TOMY developed title. It's all the fun of the original without the little "people pegs" to accidentally choke on!

It looks like the Life board has been turned into a three-dimensional world that your Mii can move through, although some of the background images look to be more Japan-centric than you might remember.

Some very Wii-like balloon-pumping and barrel-stabbing (what?) minigames are also shown, but it's not yet clear how these will fit into the gameplay. And where's the fake money at?

The title is still in development, but is expected to be released later this year in Japan.

I used to love that game as a kid. Might be worth a rental.

If this has online play I will never need to play any other game online...ever.

Man it's cool that you have Miis but that should really be a download game rather than retail. It's better suited to XBLA.

Japanese life consists of small apartments, happy stars, slides, and giraffes?

Yay for selling games that everyone has already bought and played. Innovation for the win!

Maybe it will be on Nintendos mythical new game download channel when it comes out. I doubt it, but xen is right, much better for download.

Now make it a Destructoid board game that works on flash so I can play it on my Wii.

^ Why hasn't anyone done this yet?

@Snaileb:

Well, I think it's because a DToid board game would be so full of win that Flash itself could not contain it...

....or maybe just nobody's hammered out a good idea for one yet.

The barrel thing is based off a Japanese kids toy called Kurohige-Kikiippatsu (Pop-Up Pirate). Coincidentally, TOMY happens to make that, too.

And I second Husky, buy the damn Milton/Parker Brothers game and set that shizzle up.

What we NEED on XBLA is You Don't Know Jack games, ports and new.

Has anyone played the "Big Love" edition of this game? The first spin determines how many wives you get... Also, it really sucks when you end up getting the job as a "gas-station attendant.

When I played LIFE back in the day I always tried to spin it way too hard and the wheel would like hover up on top of the spindle for a while and then drop back down.....god that was magical.

*and this looks like it might be fun...just not for very long (while your sober)*

If I remeber that game correctly, you got more money for having more kids right? I guess it mimics beating the welfare system! Hopefully we will be able to pimp our rides also.

Can't wait for more mini-games, there are really just not enough of those on the Wii...

There are so many dexterity based board games that could be overflowing with waggle win on the Wii.

Don't Break the Ice - win.

Life - fail.

Wow, it's a shame the game of Life is the worst board game ever created. Give me Catan or Carcassonne over this any day.

Good to see 3rd parties actually using Miis. Oh what a novelty. What next, developers actually spending time on making their games look good?
