Fired for not hitting sales targets on a minimum wage job that should be more focused on customer service is one of the reasons it's dying.
You can't adapt and keep up with the market - tough titties.
Feel a little sorry for the employees, but from my experience GAME employees don't really give a shit about video games, hell I give a shit more than most of them!
Such gems as...
"one EA online pass let's you play all EA games, I think"
Combined with complete lack of knowledge on release dates unless it's
written down on their "MAKE PEOPLE PREORDER THESE GAMES" list.
Screw it - the death of GAMe isn't going to stop anyone from playing videogames, nor will it really harm our hobby in the long run, there are still plenty of places to buy games from, and most of them are way better anyway.
I do feel a bit bad for the smoking hot Blonde American chick who works in my local Gamestation though - might have to drop in to see her one last time!
They had SSX for $40 on sale there, so I picked it up.
Was amused by all the "Coming Soon" posters with the dates crossed out as they're not stocking them new any more though.
Most of the people who were in this particular store just seemed to be there using up whatever points they had left, myself included.
Also, my local Gamestation (which is due to close) had a sign out front asking for trade ins of Mass Effect 3, SFxTekken and SSX...wonder what kind of price they'll be offering?
I also like their prices on second hand accessories. For example I got a virtually brand new Gold Classic Controller Pro for the Wii for £10 and they're usually at least £15 everywhere else.
Oh and I don't know about everyone else's experience with the staff but at our local stores ALL of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable AND gamers. Some of them even come here for their gaming news! Even if that's not the case for some of you, I think you're being harsh. For those of you in the UK, you DO know how hard it is to get a job right now don't you? As someone who's been there, I wouldn't wish that struggle on anyone. Hate the company, not the innocent people whose lives may be adversely affected by all of this. Basically, empathise and have a heart.
Was a bugger to see I missed that one.
What's easier than saying: "Hey I fancy playing Skyrim today!", clicking download on Steam and, depending on how good your internet is, in my case pretty alright, playing it within 1 and a half hours.
If you have an account with the Royal Bank of Scotland, I'd suggest you change it. Quick.
