Game Informer to reveal Ghostbusters game in December issue (Update) photo
     Magazines

Well, it's official, and Surfer Girl was correct: there's most certainly a Ghostbusters videogame in the works.

Game Informer is set to reveal all of the information on the upcoming game -- which is said to be a sequel to two films -- in their next issue. Talent from the original films, Harold Ramis, Billy Murray, and Dan Aykroyd are teaming up on both scriptwriting and voice work for the title.

Not much is known about the game at this time, but all should be revealed in December issue, which should hit mail boxes any day now.

[Update: Just so we're clear, this is not the Zootfly game that had "leaked" awhile back; this is not Gearsbusters of War. Keep that in mind, and please stop jumping to conclusions before having even seen the game. Keep your pants on until the magazine comes out.]

This has some serious potential. Let's hope it lives up to it.

Something was said about this a long time ago. More accurately, a picture, which seemed to have a mutant similar to a Locust from GoW in the top right corner. So here's to hoping this is the same project using the UT3 Engine.
From what I remember, rumor was that the only thing holding this "movie-game" back was Bill Murray, but it seems he is signed on, which is SOLID news. I'm super stoked.

Oh yeah, who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

Wow, this is the coolest news for a gamer like me. I still remember having fun with the Ghostbusters Spectrum game, back in the day.

I love the films (well the original and best one) and the animated series sense of dark humour. Great to see they have the original cast on board too.

I'll now go away and build pictures of it in my head. Long live the 80's.

And don't slime me either..

Hopefully it looks alittle or ALOT like the previous Ghostbuster footage that got scrapped.

Even if it does, I PRAY that it's good. If we can't get a new movie at least we could get an amazing sequel in game form.

Mylor:

That was Zootfly, who were working on another IP when the Ghostbusters thing "fell through." I don't think this is the same game, but I don't know anything about it.

Bout damn time more information surfaced on this game (even if its probably not the same Zootfly one) but I have one question...

How bout mother f*cking Ernie Hudson? Can't be Ghostbusters without Winston.

"Tell him about the Twinkie."

I told y'all not to doubt Surfer Girl. She my boo.

I hope that they make this a good video game FIRST, as opposed to making a Ghostbusters game first and then tacking on shitty gameplay. I don't know how to NOT have low expectations for this. Still, great news. Hopefully it rocks. It's awesome to see Ramis, Murray, and Aykroyd onboard.

How funny would it be if the new ghostbusters game isn't developed by that development team that leaked that ghostbuster game footage a few months back. They cause all the excitement and then don't get to reap the benefits.

This better not suck. This really better not suck. This better be awesome. I will reserve full judgment until I see the game, but this has potential to truly not suck indeed, with Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and especially Bill Murray on board. I thought Bill Murray had kinda put the whole Ghostbusters thing behind him, though?

Ghostbusters 3, anyone?

Bill Murray?

I'm quite suprised, the reason we haven't seen any more Ghostbusters things is because of him, he hates Ghostbusters because he never wanted to do it in the first place, he only did it because it was the only way the studio would approve some crappy artsy film he wanted to make, Ghostbusters was a hit and is fondly remembered even today, his other flick bombed horribly.

All I can say is, 4 player co-op is MUST for a game like this.

Huzzah. Can't wait to see and hear more about this. Agrred that Murray needs to recognize that film got him a lot of recognition, and it is still loved till this day, I can still watch it and be entertained.

This may be the best thing Murray has done since Rushmore.

Wait, hold on a minute? There actually is going to be a Ghostbusters 3? And it's going to be CGI? This is the first I've heard of it. Well, that certainly explains the game, then, but casts the dreaded movie-to-video-game-suck shadow over the whole thing.

Right, what made Ghostbusters cool was it's self deprecating humour, it's light tone, it's sense of fun and the cinematography of New York not going down the cliched gothic 'everything is so dark and brutal' route. Oh, and male characters who weren't complete dicks.

The alleged early footage and concept art of this game took everything that made Ghostbusters great and face fucked it to death then left it looking like everything else.

They will fuck up this game. I don't trust any design team that attempts to "update" or "re-imagaine" the Ghostbusters cadillac. This game will indeed suck.

The Game Informer site says ZootFly (the guys responsible for the earlier concepts) has nothing to do with the game, so I'd say there's still hope.
