Game Informer reveals EA's entry into the survival horror ring: Dead Space photo

Game Informer's Web site has posted the cover of their October issue, which features an image of EA's new survival horror title Dead Space.

Their October exclusive cover story will reveal details on the game that is supposedly inspired by cult-classic film Event Horizon. The cover says "In the far reaches of space, humanity brings to light a forgotten alien scourge. Can one man cut through the darkness?"

It's great to see EA getting in on the genre that's making Capcom (and maybe Konami) so much money, not to mention their focus on new properties and original work. Besides, the whole concept of an Event Horizion-inspired game sounds a match made in horror heaven. We're definitely looking forward to hearing more details on this title.

Oh yes, DO WANT!

Hopefully they can capture an atmosphere like System Shock 2.

Will there be people tearing out their eyes and sodomy?

Im prematurely previewing this game, to the chagrin of Dennis Dyack. Giving it a Meh.

If its an original EA game, the concept will be good, but the product will always come off as half baked.

Unless they've bought out another company that was 90% done this title and just want to stamp their branding on it. .... dice..

I've never seen Event Horizon. Should this game being inspired by it make me interested in either properties?

I'll give it a chance. I want to commend EA for at least trying to be more original these days, even if games like Boogie is the result. Hopefully the company can do much, much better than that. I have a big boner for Event Horizon as it is, so this could rule.

If it is in the same vein as Event Horizon then eye gouging and sodomy should be in it in addition to cannibalism. It's what all good sci-fi horror inspired games should have.

Any clue what platform(s) this will be on?

Should I hold out hope for a Wii version? It is EA, after all.

@Richard Blocker

That would be a reference to BEETLEJUICE!!! Nice one.

@B_Radicate

Event Horizon is the ONE single movie that Paul W.S. Anderson has made thats actually worth watching. Its not the perfect Sci-Fi Horror movie (Alien(s)), but its definitely worth a watch or 2.

This game's got potential, as long as EA allows a GOOD developer make it...I wonder if Irrational Games is..oh..wait...nevermind.

Lies. Everyone knows EA doesn't make new games. It must Madden in disguise.
