Game Informer hints at upcoming 'Epic Mickey' reveal photo

The Internet flipped its lid this past July when concept art from what's said to be Warren Spector's upcoming title was leaked. The game, likely called Epic Mickey, pictured a dark, steampunk vision of the Disney universe; it was like nothing we'd ever seen.

According to a teaser in the latest Game Informer, the title might be revealed as early as next month. The latest issue of the mega-popular magazine is pretty straight forward in its hints, if you know what to look for. There's a paint splatter that looks like Disney's iconic mouse, and the word "epic" is used more than once in the teaser copy.

Epic Mickey (if that's still the game's title) is rumored to be a Wii title that has Mickey Mouse using paint to manipulate the world. We were also told that the dark art-style we saw in the concept art may have been rejected by Disney, and while the game's concept remains, the visuals as we've seen them may not. Either way, we're excited to find out next month.

Definitely excited about this! Didn't play Kingdom Hearts but I've got a soft spot for Disney. Make it happen!

If it has the dark steampunk style pictured, colour me interested. Haha

If Disney have rejected it, colour me, uh, un-interested. Haha

I'm sure Mr Mouse can find a way to use it to sell sex to kids, haha, do it, haha, give us a dark themed Disney universe, which wears purity rings and thrusts it's crotch at children.

haha.

I'm excited regardless, but I am literally praying that it retains the dark art style, and is at least rated E10+.

But I probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

I'd love for these designs to actually be used. Disney has been better known for its cutesy and not-terribly-serious content, but something like this could prove that they're not just a one-trick pony.

I can see tons of kids having nightmares from this. And that's a good thing. :D

Usually, I disagree with what you say, haha. But the South Park reference is total win, haha.

GET UP, GET THE FUCK UP, haha! WE DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM, DO WE, haha?

Classic call-out by Parker & Stone.

I don't find it very likely that Disney will approve this kind of artistic direction, unfortunately. On the other hand, their classic characters are kind of falling into oblivion, so I could see them going "Oh, what the hell. We have already bastardized them with Kingdom Hearts and it turned out better than we expected."

I, for one, don't really know what to expect gameplay-wise. Coming from Warren Spector I'm pretty sure it will be at least an interesting ride.

I wonder if this will be one of the few games I pick up for Wii?

This could go either way for me. If they put 100% into this dark atmosphere, then I'll definitely look into the project.

I'd love to see Disney try something like this.

Raise your hand if you didn't think Disney would veto the concept art.

If anyone was seriously under the impression that Disney would choose to go with this art direction, then you seriously need to get your head examined. These are not the early years of Disney anymore, where they could get away with such dark themes in their movies or other media without getting slammed by protest groups. Disney in general has become nothing more than a homogenized "wholesome family" oriented business (Pixar excluded).

Pity because that picture of Epcot on top of "Monstro" kicked so much ass! So much so, that it still is my computer desktop's wallpaper.

I'm hoping the steampunk feel stays, or at least is only toned down. I really want to see what this is all about and it'd be a shame for it to be shot down before it even got started.
