Let's say you meet both of these girls in real life. Doesn't Samus seem like she'd be all business? She's never really had much character. Granted Tifa has had more opportunity for character development, considering that she starred in an RPG as opposed to an action game, and the movie of course.

My vote is for Samus but I honestly can't justify it.

Samus. Sure Tifa was a boner and a half but I liked Samus' take shit from no one kind of attitude.

Samus has no personality, at least in the Metroid games I've played. She could have been a robot and it wouldn't have made the slightest difference except for her "Hi this is me without armor" scene at the end of each game. Tifa, on the other hand, is a fully developed character, one not too generic but not too "Hey I'm gonna try to steal the spotlight for the next two discs even though I'm dead." Or whatever.

Tifa, no question.

Come on man! If you'd played Super Metroid or Fusion to the end, there's no way you'd be saying that. A lot of Samus' story ahs to be put together yourself, it isn't hand fed to you in hour long cut scenes and flat dialogue.

Samus refused to destroy the last metroid because she wasn't a cold killing machine. She was human and she understood that even though the Metroid's had been put to terrible use, they deserved to live and could benefit mankind. That same metroid then saves her life twice over, once sacrificing itself to rescue it's "mother" (Samus being the first thing the metroid saw when it hatched at the end of Metroid 2) and again when it's genetic material was injected into Samus to stave off the X-parasite that had infected her, essentialy fusing her DNA with that of the metroids she had so dutifully hunted.

I'm sorry, but saying Samus has no personality is like saying Final Fantasy is all about gameplay. It just ain't so.

I'll take the quality gameplay and constantly evolving Samus over the typical 2D anime eye candy that is Tifa.

I agree that Samus is badass, but I also agree that she has no personality. She doesnt talk or cry or get mad, shes basically a robot. Plus she never even shows her face except at the end of most of the games, and the last couple of times they didnt even bother to render her very well..

The fight scene from AC seals the deal for me: 1 vote for Tifa please.
