This is it! The final round! Last week we finished round two of our best gaming heroine debate, and it turned out to be one of the most one-sided weeks we've ever seen. Tifa's slaughter of Aeris in round one was even more lopsided, but to pull these kind of numbers in the second round is impressive.
In the next month or two we're going to revisit a few old game debates from last year to see how things have changed over the last twelve months, but I think it's safe to say that we never need to hold last week's debate ever again on Dtoid. Here were the results:
- Jade: 26 votes
- Samus: 79 votes - Winner!
That leaves just
Metroid's Samus and
Final Fantasy's Tifa for the last round in our month-long debate. Despite both women being beautiful, things should definitely get ugly quick, how do you choose between the two? That's up to you to decide -- which woman deserves to win and why? Weigh the pros and cons, cast your votes, give your reasons, go get some of your friends to sign up and give their opinions too, and check back next week for this year's champion!

Only a few women in video games have done what she has done.
Samus was originally a brunette (even had green hair depending on the weapon equipped) and was also a redhead for a short time, depending on how you look at things.

Tifa saved the world from Meteor, with the help of a dozen other people. Samus has single handedly destroyed entire worlds and organised crime syndicates. Zebes and SR388 are no more for one simple reason. Samus.
If you think Samus couldn't have destroyed Meteor all by her lonesome, you're fooling yourself. Hell, she would have done it during a speed run in less than two hours and gotten naked at the end, which is a damn sight more than Tifa has ever done.

Samus has no personality, at least in the Metroid games I've played.
Tifa has no personality, at least in that one cut scene that she wasn't in that I saw a couple of years ago.
Come on man! If you'd played Super Metroid or Fusion to the end, there's no way you'd be saying that. A lot of Samus' story ahs to be put together yourself, it isn't hand fed to you in hour long cut scenes and flat dialogue.
Samus refused to destroy the last metroid because she wasn't a cold killing machine. She was human and she understood that even though the Metroid's had been put to terrible use, they deserved to live and could benefit mankind. That same metroid then saves her life twice over, once sacrificing itself to rescue it's "mother" (Samus being the first thing the metroid saw when it hatched at the end of Metroid 2) and again when it's genetic material was injected into Samus to stave off the X-parasite that had infected her, essentialy fusing her DNA with that of the metroids she had so dutifully hunted.
I'm sorry, but saying Samus has no personality is like saying Final Fantasy is all about gameplay. It just ain't so.
And yes, I'm watching this board like a hawk while I stave of uni work, so =P.
Also, I find Tifa annoying.
I guess it's (part of) the reason Link and Chrono always won gamefaqs character contests. But I will always protest silent characters (except Ness, but only because Earthbound is the greatest). :P Speaking of character contests, Magus > Sephiroth...but don't get me started.
