Game Debate to the Death! Tifa VS Aeris photo

Last week we continued our best gaming heroine debate by arguing over Perfect Dark's Joanna Dark and Resident Evil's Jill Valentine. Here were the results:

  • Joanna Dark: 31 votes
  • Jill Valentine: 61 votes - Winner!

Jill joins Samus and Jade as the winners in the next round, and that leaves one more bracket open for our female fight to the death. This week's debate brings babes from the most famous Final Fantasy game out of the whole series -- Tifa and Aeris from FF7. There was plenty of women to choose from, but these two are most widely known and praised.

Which woman deserves to win? Does Aeris's famous death get her sympathy points? Or has Advent Children left you looking for more Tifa? Which of the two turn based RPG tramps is the better gaming heroine? Weigh the pros and cons, cast your votes, give your reasons, and check back next week for a winner and the setup of round two. @Tactix: Sure she didnt have great offense, but who else kept your party alive during the tough times?

Anyone with CURE materia (or potions). But why would you need a dedicated healer all the time?

Definatly Tifa. As others have noted she has big tits and can kick your ass. That and she wasn't the stereotypical shy, always caring, healer girl like Aeris. Aeris is the type of girl Japanese always want since they are the ones that act first and say they like you so you don't have to grow a pair of balls and ask a the girl out first. Tifa's better all the way.

Um, what? Among Final Fantasy aficionados, Tifa is mainly regarded as a fairly cardboard, generic supporting character, not unlike Rosa in Final Fantasy 4. Her character development is practically non-existent within the actual game. Everything you know about her is revealed in a few flashbacks, and she doesn't evolve at all through the course of the game. There are NPCs with more depth than Tifa.

In fairness, Aeris dies. Not much development there either. But at least Aeris has a role besides "standard clinger-on'er."

I'd marry Tifa because you gotta love the pillows on her chest.

I'd kill Yuffie because she has underdeveloped breasts.

But since this isn't a FMK topic... my vote goes to Tifa.

Tifa without a doubt! Although Aeris did have one cool ass death scene though. Just can't beat a girl who's weapon choice is a pair of leather gloves.

Tifa of course. I never liked Aeris at all, whenever I saw her I just wanted her to crawl in to a corner and die... So you could imagine how happy I was when she actually did die. I was dancing around my room during her death scene.

Aeris may have been the happy-go-lucky flower girl but she never saw Sephiroth coming...

Tifa was spunky, hot, and had a chest just big enough without going all DoA on us. She could also kick ass, while Aeris just really healed a lot.

Tifa ftw.

And I predict Samus will beat everyone and win it all.

I guess you got me there...Myself, I had Aeris in my party to heal at all times before she died, but I guess thats part of the greatness of FFVII...you're allowed to tailor your experience in a way. :P Having a dedicated healer is just the way I play.
