Game Debate to the Death! Ryu VS M. Bison photo

Last week was a battle between large men, little clothing and one too many pairs of arms to make me feel comfortable. At first the votes were dead even, but after the fierce bear-fueled bout of grab ass was over, a winner emerged with a large lead in votes. Here are the results:

  • Goro: 30 votes
  • Zangief: 55 votes - Winner!

This victory clinches the crown for the Street Fighter series, with all the Mortal Kombat characters now eliminated from the competition. Chun-Li will have to put Zangief to the test next week, but for now we get to focus on one of the most well-known good guy bad guy conflicts ever played out in the gaming industry. Ryu versus M. Bison.

It's up to you to decide the winner -- will the picture above represent the outcome of this fight, or will the Dtoid Army decide a different ending? Who is the better fighter, and why? Cast your votes, give us a reason for your decision, get some friends to vote, and check back next week for the winner.

If Ryu wins the whole deal (doubtful with Chun-Li looming) then there must be a "Challenger Appears!" showdown with Akuma.

@Pangloss - i had considered doing that, but I'm still not sure. these debates are all about the readers though, so if enough people want to see that, then i'm up for it.

also, if chun-li beats zangief, i could even have her fight cammy, ryu fight akuma, and then the winners advance to the true final round. just a thought.

@Fronz - Akuma takes damage like a bitch. It should be Ken VS Ryu. Thats the real showdown. Or shin-ryu verus shin-akuma. Either one would be about dead even.

I don't even know anymore, man. I was gonna go with Ryu, just because I've probably used him more times than Bison.

Then I realized that the computer controlled Bison has kicked my ass just as many times while using Ryu. Hmmm.

Okay, Ryu. The control scheme for Ryu is now and forever ubiquitous with 2-D fighting gaems.

I vote Bison. Bison is 100% kick ass. He'd be jumping all over the screen and landing on my head and shit, then punching me in the face on his way down from standing on my head. Thats way more then what Ryu could do.

M. Bison/Vega is fucking scary in Street Fighter II. Not so much since then (although that SFA3 art is great.) The final stage of World Tour mode in Alpha 3 is a total bitch though.

In conclusion, have to give my vote to <s>Gomez Addams</s> M. Bison on this one.

The real debate should be who says Rye-You, and who says Ree-You. I say Rye-You just because that's what me and everyone has been saying since SF2 came out, but I say Ree-You for Ryu Hayabusha, weird, i know.

Despite the fact that I prefer SF over MK, I'm really surprised that Zangief beat Goro.

I'm going with Ryu on this one. Bison's crazy and magical and whatnot, but... c'mon, it's Ryu. You can't beat the best.

I abstain. I'd filibuster as well, but I don't know if there's a character limit on the comments, and I wouldn't want to type a lot and then be cut off halfway through.

I simply have no preference in this fight. Be ready for some hardcore campaigning when my boy Zangief rolls up though...

Ryu's ending in SFII is one of the best endings of any game. The fact that its the end of a fighting game(which are known for their total lack of storyline) is astounding. Ryu.
