After much discussion and deliberation, the previous debate has finally come to an end. I expected an onslaught of opinions from both sides, and I definitely wasn't disappointed, but towards the end of the comments something was gnawing at my gut. I love seeing new faces pop-up on Dtoid, even if they're faceless default Dtoid avatars.
However, when one side is winning by a healthy margin, only to fall in flames as the other side rallies to a win atop the raised hands of a bunch of new accounts or readers who only comment twice a year, then, well, I feel the need to verify the votes before posting the results. So after a lengthy recess of going through each and every comment one by one to make sure there was no dupe accounts or other debauchery going on -- which there thankfully was not -- here are the final results:
- Prototype (66 votes)
- inFamous (87 votes) -- Winner!
This week we take another reader suggestion and pit the winner against Red Faction: Guerrilla -- a recent game that Vexed Alex thinks is better than both the two above titles. So what about you? Which game do you think is better, and why? Give it some serious thought, get some friends to share their opinions as well, and check back next week for the winner.
Bonus Question: What are some other debates you'd like to see? C'mon, gimme somethin' juicy!
VOTE: Red Faction: Guerrilla.
Anyway, I vote for Red Faction: Guerrilla
It's just too much damn fun.
Also, I'd like to see:
Devil May Cry vs. God of War
Okami vs. Twilight Princess
Blazblue vs. Street Fighter 4
Mass Effect vs. Fallout 3
Killzone 2 vs. Halo 3
My list could go on indefinitely.
....wooo red faction...
But I played through Infamous and actually ended up not liking it very much at all, mostly because it is fucking boring - on the other hand I loved the Red Faction demo.
So I'm giving it to -- RED FACTION -- because it can't possibly disappoint me as much as Infamous did.
If it does, I will kill myself. With electricity.
Tekken or Virtua fighter?
Capcom or SNK?
Outrun or AfterBurner?
Yeah, I got nothin'
My vote: inFAMOUS.
I thought red faction played like crap
And who gives a shit what alex thinks? he's egotistical anyway :p
That said, I loved infamous, too.
Tried the demo to Red Faction, thought it sucked, never thought about the game again.
Infamous was a good game and I'll pick it up when it's down to $19.99-29.99 but Guerrilla was the most fun game I've played this year (lost and damned / Fallout 3 DLC not withstanding.
Just something cathartic about the destruction in Guerrilla.
Bonus: Go back to basics: threeway contest between the N64, PS1 and Saturn.
the mission (or the game) and its gonna be different
Even though it kinda felt like Grand Theft Auto: Mars Andreas, it's one of the best $60 I've spent all year
InFamous, on the otherhand, was just a poorly made game and could have used another year of work.
I vote Red Faction.
I couldn't stand Red Faction for very long.
Whatever that means...
Ahh, whatever. Red Faction is just fun - inFAMOUS isn't!
Portal Gun vs. Gravity Gun
Not exactly a "game" debate, but seriously, how could anyone expect me to make that decision?
Anyways, Red Faction, cause geo-mod rocks!
I was wondering, what game debate has had the most people voting?
@Fronz
How exactly do you tell from a dupe account and a real account exactly?
And I would like to see a series of games go against each other. MGS 1 VS 2 VS 3 VS 4.
I think when KoFXII comes out a good vote would be 2D fighters: Blazblue vs KoFXII
I wasn't impressed with Red Faction just playing the demo off PSN, looked alright I suppose but I'm waiting for it to hit the bargain bin before getting it.
Bonus: I have to agree with Havoc Fang. I would love to see a debate based on a series such as MGS. Seeing the reasons why someone votes for this game in a series over that one would actually be amusing. But any series would do. Prince of Persia, Reachet & Clank, the various Mario games, etc, etc. Another interesting idea would be remakes vs. the originals. Of course the debate I would like to see between two different games/series would have to be this:
Twisted Metal (the series) vs. Vigilante 8 (the series)
I really dig games that open with a huge mysterious event. Red Faction just couldn't get me to care within the first 30 minutes of play. The character has zero motivation.
