I really like the "Manhattan is your Playground" concept in Prototype. You hold the sprint button in and go in any direction you want. It kinda reminded me of a faster-paced Assassin's Creed, but with a better combat system. This is also the only game where I go out of my way and interrupt a timed mission, just to get that Landmark or WEb of Intrigue target (random macguffin).
The only thing I don't like so far is that the game becomes almost too chaotic too quickly. What with the Infected and the Military fighting all over the place.
I wish the stealth had some challenge... not just spam stealth consume.
Grabbing a random person by the throat and throwing them like a baseball was 1000x more awesome then shooting random people with lightning. Or running up the side of a building. Or stealing a helicopter out of the sky.
At least inFamous had kick ass trash monsters. That's pretty nifty.
I finished both this week and to be true, i hated prototype , it's all the thing i don't want to play in a sandbox game.
Infamous on the other hand it's more fun, equally repetitive and technicaly superior.Either way both games aren't the perfect example of good games.
Prototype 4 life, just because I like to play as a GOD and not some flimsy electrical human who get's killed so easily and is completely DEFENSELESS against a CHAINLINK FENCE.
My only grudge? AIMING IS TERRIBLE.
Vote: Prototype
Bonus: Some weird control issues here and there.
But...basically the early mission where you lure the hunters to the base makes restarting a playthrough of the game fucking horrible. I hate that mission with a passion.
I'll go with inFAMOUS this time because I love how its all up to your concience and will on what road to take
Eh, never mind, Prototype, I like running up buildings rather than climbing up them like an ape. But there were tons of things I disliked in the game. But I'll stick with the Hunters, those guys will charge you from half a building away, it's so cheap.
Sarcasm aside, Prototype does have major issues with lock-on (objective target or random civilian...it picks the latter) and the graphics are not great. However, I think polygon count was sacrificed to populate the streets with oh-so many pedestrians and taxis to demolish.
Between the two I guess infamous was probably more realistic in what you were able to do, but f*ck that. Prototype was way more fun.
One thing I disliked about Prototype was the poor voice acting and unnecessary cutscenes that got in the way of all the fun!!! :P
My heart's with Infamous, but Prototype did go cross-platform... i think Infamous takes it for the cutscenes and story.
Bonus: Awkward aiming system was a bit annoying. I'm trying to target that civilian so I can punt kick him, not that tank 3 blocks away!
Nice little diversions though.
I think I liked inFamous more because it came out first. It was awesome going around the town with interesting missions and city unique side missions but some side missions are repetitive. The lightning attack was just awesome though
I hated Prototype but that's because
1) side missions BLEW.. like I mean really blew.. they were practically the same thing over and over again and I just couldn't sit there and play them
2) While going through the story I just have this feeling `I could really care less`
3) Pointless mission objectives in some missions
4) Hunter attacks that left you there getting raped
Although I do admit the moves in Prototype are better
Overall I have to say inFamous that`s my opinion and this chat won`t change it :P. Everybody can have their own opinion and if more people like Prototype that`s fine :) Personally I just didn`t
I was all about both when they were coming out. With Infamous first I liked it, but it was far too repetitive. There weren't enough differences between the good and evil sides. The evil side ended up being a bit more fun, especially because when I played through sticking to the bad karma actions, I was just blasting anything and everything. The differences in story were completely minimal at best. I was hoping the showdown with Kessler the second time around would be a little different, the only thing that changed was the little video after the credits, and Sasha talking to me a few times... gee thanks. I enjoyed playing the game, but was happy to finish it and move straight onto Prototype.
After Infamous, my hopes were high for Prototype... More action, more diverse powers, more gore, crazier animations and death sequences. Those hold true, but it lacks the polish that Infamous had. Here's a game, similar to the game I just played and enjoyed, with all the improvements I thought it needed, and its disappointing. I am playing through it now, but I'm missing the polish, simpler controls, and the focus that Infamous had. The camera gets wonky, the lock on feature is really slow, the enemies are somehow cheaper than the infamous reapers/dustmen/first sons. Running up buildings and trying to get to a specific spot or hint sphere can be frustrating... Its still fun, but not as much as I had thought it should be. The story is interesting, but how it evolves with the web is both cool, and annoying. Overall the narrative to Infamous at least kept its focus.
I'm a little over the half-way point on prototype on 360, so I can't say I know everything about the game. Seeing how its playing out, I can't believe I'm saying this, my vote goes to...
Infamous
(and what the f&^% is up with the hoodie on Mercer, it looks tacky as hell)
Vote: inFAMOUS
Oh, and inFAMOUS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Prototype
And because one of the Infamous trailers introduced me to the band If These Trees Could Talk, awesome music.
The worst part about inFamous was that the game crashed a couple times on me and that wasn't so fun.
