Last week was a big win for a Little game. Despite a few gripes with the winner, here are the overwhelming results:
- LittleBigPlanet (58 votes) -- Winner!
- Resistance 2 (9 votes)
This week we move on to the last bracket in the PS3 odd debates, and we finish with one of the oddest matchups in a long time. One game couldn't get much more serious, and the other couldn't be much more silly. Both have had tremendous amounts of support from launch to present, so I'm expecting a good fight to the finish. Because both games are so different, I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone's reasons for their decisions.
Which game do you think is better, and why? Give it some serious thought, get some PS3 friends to share their opinions as well, and check back next week for the winner.
Bonus Question: What are some PC games you'd like to see in the next few odd debate brackets? DS game suggestions? PSP game suggestions?

bonus:PC- portal, tf2?
'Mgs4, with out a doubt. It was one of very, very few games this generation that had narrative brilliance, it was grand, epic, and lived up to all of the expectation poured on it. Hundreds, thousands of games have failed to do that, MGS4 did not.
Honestly, It was the best game I have played in the past nine years, simply because Kojima actually understands the fans and gave then the ultimate MGS, supassing it's predecessors by a mile. Not only that, but it beats every single hollywood action movie in recent history into the ground, Hollywood can only wish to make a media product as awesowe as MGS4.'
Continuing from that, LBP was fun, but it did not have the sheer impact MGS4 had, nor the epicness of it. LBP was awesome in it's creativity aspect, but without freinds to play with you, the experience lost it's luster quickly.
MGS4, however, gave you incentives to play the game over and over again, unlocking cool stuff and seeing how different play styles can alter your experience. I played throgh the entire game running and gunning, however, I played through it again using a hell of a lot of stealth, and the experience was vastly different, and amazing to go through.
LBP is fun, but it does'nt linger in your memory for the rest of your life as MGS4 does, IMHO, that is. :)
BONUS: DS GDTTD: Pokemon Diamond or Phantom Hourglass.
PSP GDTTD: LocoRoco or Patapon.
PC GDTTD: Lego Racers, or Pajama Sam
Both games are fantastic. However, I don't find myself craving a bash on LBP half as often as I do with Metal Gear. I blame my man muscle.
DS suggestion; Maybe Chrono Trigger Vs. Pokemon Pearl/Diamond/That other one?
PSP - patapon and crush
PC - portal and TF2 (and put them on opposite ends of the bracket to see if they battle it out at the end!)
As for the bonus
PC: Left 4 Dead, fallout3, Crysis, WOW, Farcry 1 or 2... and many more
PSP: God Of war, Patapon, Resistance, MGS: PO, Locoroco, Wipeout, FF7...that's all I can think of now.
Easily.
It manages to save itself from having a complete bullshit story by not having (followable) story at all.
It still has that physics problem, but hey, that's something you can fix.
Bouns:
DS: Feel The Magic vs Cooking Mama
PC: Half Life: Blue Shift vs Half Life: Opposing Force
-or-
Half Life vs Random H-Game
PSP: Patapon vs Every Extend Extra
DS: World Ends With You, Advance Wars, FFIV, Professor Layton, Pheonix Wright, and of the Castlevanias...
PSP: MGS Portable Ops, Outrun 2006 (had to!), God of War: CoO, Ace Combat X, Wipeout Pure/Pulse, Pursuit Force
Bonus:
PC: Half-Life 2 and Crysis.
PSP: Patapon, God of War: COO, Crisis Core: FF7, Killzone: Liberation
Is there ever going to be a Developer Debate or was there already one a while ago?? I think that would cause some good discussions.
LBP wins, but not by much. It definitely has a certain charm to it, but it allows for a lot of obnoxiousness when you've got a big group together. Youve got 3 sackboys, each with their own outfits, then there's the fourth, which decided that there can't be enough things trailing off of him.
It's douche-tastic move, but at least the game's lighthearted and fun.
But honestly, MGS4, while it is a great game, isn't interesting.
I've lost interest in stealth games almost altogether. Nothing innovative, just new packaging.
LBP may not be the most fleshed out game in the world, but it's well made, and has a lot of replay value. Plus you can play with friends. And, if nothing else, its a breath of fresh air from all the various military games we see every day. Halo, COD, MGS, Haze, Crysis, etc.
No idea on the bonus question. I don't pay enough attention to handhelds and PC gaming anymore.
The game is a gift from Kojima, and MGO is hard, but worthwhile.
PSP: Infected vs. Every Extend Extra
Little Big Planet was a game that I wasn't anticipating much until the beta. The beta opened my eyes to how much fun creating a game can be when the only goal you have is to experiment and fool around with the given tools. LBP is fun condensed into a little package of joy. The level design was fantastic, but especially became mind blowing when the player realized that they could make what they had just experienced. Every one of us could become a little Kojima, sharing our fictional worlds with all of its ups and downs, grit and all to the world, and then watch them grin as they ran our gauntlet of creativity. My girlfriend and I can hold hands and enjoy the same virtual world together (when she's not smacking me into a fiery pit), and LBP is one of only a few games she wants to play when she's with me.
Both games have had they joys and pitfalls with online play issues, but what it comes down to is.. which wins- snake or sack? and personally i get more enjoyment out of playing with my sack.
plus... come on. RaidenSack ftw.
Bonus:
Bangai-O Spirits vs. anything man! Such an incredible game. In fact, it's probably in my top 10 favorites of all time. To bad it didn't get much attention.
I CAN'T EVEN CHOOSE
BRAIN MELTDOW6NALSAKFJL352SAJ2FLAKS52NFLAKSNFOAINFOWA6352IFNOIFNASF]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]]
Bonus:
Elite Beat Agents vs Rhythm Heaven.
Disgaea DS vs Final Fantasy Tactics A2
Don't own a PSP and don't really play PC games. sorry
DS - FFIV vs Chrono trigger
PC - L4d vs TF2
Vote: Metal Gear!?
For PC games: Dawn of War vs Starcraft, Crysis vs Far Cry 2, Quake 3 vs UT
Both are amazingly high quality games. It's impossible for me to pick one over the other.
It's like picking the chocolate Hostess cupcake or the lemon one. mm. cupcake.
MGS4 wins by far. From the story to the gameplay to the accessible yet deep online play, the game has it all.
Seriously, if you picked LBP, imitate one of those sackboys and put a sack over your head and kill yourself.
LBP.
If ever I was unsure, Snake's final boss fight proved to be LBP's finishing blow. A very poignant close to the series.
PC - Grim Fandango, The Sims, Black and White
NDS - Castlevania Ecclesia, Elite Beat Agents, FFIV
Bonus: World of Warcraft vs Counterstrike. HAHAHA
LBP is an amazing game in its own right but it just doesnt have the impact or the thrills that MGS4 offers.
Bonus: DS- Phoenix Wright v Apollo Justice, PSP - Patapon vs Echochrome, PC - Warcraft 2 v Starcraft
It's an amazing game to play with somebody next to you, and it's been a while since I played a genuinely co-operative game, not just one where you play with with others for a common objective.
Plus it has endless possibilities in the level editor, and need I mention Steven Fry?
So LBP!
Bonus: Games that have 75 or less on Metacritic. Lets praise the games that we love, but nobody else did. Lets not fellate games that are already raw from praise.
Also LBP is fun, blah blah blah whatever.
I love LBP. I was crying from laughter when Shipero, James and I were playing the most crappy levels published. I even woke my neighbor up. Creating your own levels is awesome and Sackboys are cute.
BUT!
I choose Metal Gear Solid 4. Hideo Kojima is my hero. The story, the music, the movies (yes, I love those cut-scenes!) all those small hidden secrets. MGS4 is my favorite game of all time.
(even though Metal Gear Online sucks ass. Fucking region lock and Konami ID bullshit)
God dammit.
I would have to say MGS4 as it will stay with me, I'll never forget growing up alongside Snake, albeit Snake growing old way faster (damn foxdie) and the final conclusion (?) of MGS4.
LBP is a truely unique game, a little package of joy, but MGS4 is a massive package of WOW.
MGO sways it easy too, don't care much for LBP online multiplayer play myself.
PSP games has got to have Monster Hunter Freedomm 2 in there - best PSP game EVAR.
Did a fantastic job tying up the storyline 20 years in the making. Sure there are some problems with it, but I can't think of a more satisfying explanation to an entire series. People can bitch, but they're bitches.
It took almost every element from past games and perfected them. Camo went from a slow menu based affair to a context sensitive game play feature. Combat controls were GREATLY increased, grenades had trajectory, shooting took the over the shoulder model, you could run while crouched over.
Just overall it took almost every good part of all the past games and polished them and made them work and wrapped it all up in this intense epicness.
It doesn't hurt that I finally got into Metal Gear Online and am having a BLAST with it.
Oh yeah, and it's my favorite game of all time. So no real contest here.
MGS4!
