Game Debate to the Death!Counter-Strike VS World of Warcraft photo

Last week's debate brought us to the end of the PSP odd game debate brackets with two very deserving games in the finals. The votes were a dead tie half way into the tallying, but in the end one game broke ahead and never looked back. Here are the results:
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (24 votes) -- "Da da da dahhhhhh da da DA da dahhh" -- Winner!
  • Patapon (15 votes)

This week we enter the PC odd game debate brackets. For those of you keeping track, this is the last of the very lengthy "odd game debate" tournaments. After that, by the end of June we'll return to reader suggestion based debates, as well as a healthy dose of the regular hair-puller debates that I think up.

For this week, which game do you think is better, and why? The two games have more in common than you might think at first glance, although the vast differences are what you'll need to consider the most before making your pick. Give it some serious thought, get some PC friends to share their opinions as well, and check back next week for the winner.

Bonus Question: What is one thing you don't like about the game you voted for?

Gonna have to go with Counter-Strike. Ever since beta 5.2 I've enjoyed the crap out of it. Although WoW did kill my CS boner in 2004. Great games.

Pros:
WoW: Probably the best overall/well-rounded MMO out now. Before 4chan ruined it, of course, fucking 4chan fags.
CS: Call of Duty 4 before CoD4 was CoD4. Defusing the bomb and rescuing hostages while dead(back in the beta)!

Cons:
WoW: Cookie-cutter fantasy, not casual friendly.
CS: Few official features/updates/support.

Bonus: Anyone remember? Counter-Strike WARCRAFT 3 Mod? Good times.

CS, because it's not boring and the life-wasting factor isn't as high.

Counter strike 1.6 without a doubt. One of the first games I played on my pc. Being awesome at cs actually gets you girls (at least where I live).

Wow is too life consuming, my best friend had to go to therapy because of his wow addiction.

The thing I hated about cs was awp whoring.

I'm gonna go with WoW, simply because of the social aspect of the game. Both games have a deep learning curve, (My friends who are decent players are crazy with a deagle) and if you're new to mmo's then learning the whole tanking and dps etc can take awhile. Both require you to invest a lot of time to get really good at it.. WoW on the other hand simply has so much more people in it, and you can meet some really great people online which is good and start an online social life, which, no matter how negative that seems, is still beter than not having one at all. So WoW it is

Counter-Strike because I can play it like a game and not a job.

Damn! This is a tough one.

One's a mindless, grind-fest of the most casual gameplay imaginable, with the most senior players knowing every nook and cranny, making it all but impossible to get started.

The other is World of Warcraft... I'll give blizzard the benefit of the doubt, so WoW.

Counter-Strike if you get to play it at a professional level! Nothing in wow cam compare to the feeling you have when you fight in a final match of a tournament with money prize, every second counts!

Plus you get to play with 4 other ppl that you must put your trust in and be able to play as a team!

World of Warcraft. I love Blizzard, basically. One thing I don't like is how the horde and alliance classes are 98% exactly the same.

also, the reason i dont like counter strike is because if youre new, you die too fast and then have to wait for the round to end. its hard to get experience when youre waiting all the time.

Counter Strike. Like a few before me it was the sole reason I spent 200 dollars on a graphics card. It has a simple gameplay style but name one shooter that has not copied the glory of Counter Strike? Also, Counter Strike was originally a mod. A game that was a super hit before it was even retail. Unlike WoW which had Blizzard developing it. Counter Strike on its own fame and love of the players has created everything it needs to keep going. User made maps, tournaments, clans, and just fun gameplay. I however do not like counter strike for one reason, Counter Strike Source. An okay distraction but an abomination of a game compared to the original. I love Turtle Rock, but CSS was just not what a game like Counter Strike deserved to have as a sequel.

counter strike! although i disagree about everyone jumping on the bandwagon saying "we still have lives!".. wow was good while it lasted for me but yeah..

lack of self-control = weakness

if u cant control yourself from playing wow, then you have more problems.

I would vote on Counterstrike except for one thing that ruins it: Sniper Rifles. I play exclusively on servers that have sniper rifles disabled, it's simply not fun to compete against people who are insanely good at them.

Counter-Strike, definitely. Think about it, the game is 10 years old (I started playing in the original 1.0 retail release), and it still has a pretty decent player-base.

I recently started playing it again, in fact. I got sick of WoW after about 2 months and haven't looked back.

The only thing I don't like about CS is the AWP. People use the gun to the exclusion of all others and it makes things a little boring. Besides, you can't jump up and down with a 20 lb sniper rifle filled with .50 bullets that was designed for a tri-pod and shoot accurately. :-)

wow is an aboniation....i despise those who waste their money every month on the soul eating game. Counter Strike was a work in progress which made it so good because there was always someone adding to the code to make a different gameplay versions constantly. The SOURCE code has been used in many games...i believe combat arms is even running off of it. WoW can suck a cock. My vote goes to CS.

I dont like whiney online bitches who cry constantly in the game

Counterstrike on my side, first game I ever bought. Must of bought it three times when I think about it. (I suck at passwords.)

I hate: 14 year olds who sound like 4 year olds who scream in their mics "I FUCKING OWNED YOU NOOOOOOOOOOOOOB! SUCK MY PREBUBESCENT BALLS!" Etc..

When I play WoW badly, I still grind through. When I play it well there isn't much of a feeling of elation. CS on the other hand is not a very forgiving game, but when I am plying well I am on top of the world (doesn't hapen very often though). This coupled with its longevity and accesability make Counter Strike my vote.

The down side:
CS isn't the most welcoming community.

Good debate. I loved CS, i played too many games and really got addicted to online shooters due solely to it. However, i'm such a sucker for great worlds, and in that respect, CS cant even compare.

WoW is gigantic, tons of fun, and feels like another world. great stuff, both but...

Vote: World of Warcraft.

bonus: Half-Life 2 will win the PC odd debates.
