Game Debate to the Death!</br>Samus VS Jade photo
     Debate

Last week we started off round two of our best gaming heroine debate, and the votes were the closest I've ever seen at first, but eventually one clear winner emerged and dominated the debate. Here were the results:

  • Jill: 37 votes
  • Tifa: 65 votes - Winner!

That leaves Metroid's Samus and Beyond Good and Evil's Jade for this week's debate to finish off round two. Which woman deserves to win and why? Weigh the pros and cons, cast your votes, give your reasons, and check back next week for a winner! One more round to go!

Fuck you guys Jade all the way. Samus is the still the generic pretty blond big breasted chick. I don't buy that JUST because she wears full body armor and JUST because you dont realize shes a chick at the end of the game and it's a huge twist doesn't make her any more special or any LESS of a stereotype objectified woman.

Jade is a minority (latina? Thats what i figured), smart, and doesnt have a quadruple D cup. Also her game brought something new to the table. Metroid was an improved Ghosts 'n Goblins, and the Castlevania games were better anyway.


So basically, Samus doesn't have the girl power to be better than Jade. She is the same as any other girl in videogames. At least Jade isn't a big breasted sex object.

Totally Samus. IMO, she was the first popular female character as an ass-kicking heroine, and not as some pathetic damsel in distress.

I will have to go with Jade. I like Samus, but she never really gets any character development in the games. We get a little back story here and there but nothing substantial.
Jade had a great game and we learned all about her.
I guess I'm not the typical guy when I say you've got to have more than good looks to attract my attention...well, to keep my attention anyway. I'm not that atypical ;)

as much as samus rocks it, i'll have to say jade. the game she was in brought something fairly original and thought-provoking to the table. under appreciated? just a bit.

Wow, Samus is winning in a landslide, and I'm surprised since she didn't really have any character development(You didn't even know she was a girl until the end for christ's sake). I haven't played Beyond Good and evil though, so I'll have to refrain from voting.

I really think this one is gonna go to Samus just for the rampant fanboyism and not because of any other real reason.

Samus is EXACTLY like EVERY female character in videogames. (Just because she did it first only gets her so far)
Jade is unique, different and not a big titted whore.

Samus has NO personality (has she ever even spoken?).
Jade is a smart, well developed person.

Samus went from side scrolling Ghosts 'N Goblins clone to carbon copy firstperson shooting.
Jade played with familiar conventions, but brought a whole other way at playing them to the table and a game expierence rarely found elsewhere.

And Emo Zema, you can't say that she RECENTLY became a sex symbol, because if you beat the game enough times (or was it fast enough) Samus takes off her outfit and is wearing nothing but lingerie.

Jade. Why? Well, the same reasons everyone else cited minus that Samus is hot big boobed blonde chick. There's nothing wrong with that. But, BG&E had better game play, more character development (I know -nothing- about Samus except that she's a she and has a gun for an arm) and more than anything Jade was normal. I like reading books and stuff though, so..

I love 'em both. They're both strong female characters, and they're both hot. I'm going to go with Jade though, because she wears my favorite color (and wears it well) and she's a brunette.

this one was much closer than the other debates for me. but i am going to have to go with samus. samus is the man, except for being a woman. i remember playing the original metroid, one of the first and best games i ever played on my nes. also one of the first games on the list of games i have never beat. i love you samus.
