Game Debate to the Death! <br> M. Bison VS Shang Tsung photo

Last week was a battle between cyclones, bikes, dragons, and bears. The fight started with a vicious pattern of Liu Kang repeatedly taking and losing the lead back and forth. Votes were tied for the majority of the time, and someone even voted for my belly button, making me half as powerful as Sheeva. Then, late in the fight, our robot readers spoke loudly and one fighter broke free for the win. Here are the results:

  • Liu Kang: 32 votes
  • Zangief: 43 votes - winner!

This week is a battle between two memorable bosses in each series. Obsessed with taking over the world, M. Bison uses mind control and military power to defeat his enemies. Shang Tsung is more worried about other realms though, and uses magic to steal the souls of his opponents. Both are deadly in their own ways, and it's up to you to decide who would win in a fight between the two. Who is the better boss, and why? Cast your votes, give us a reason for your decision, get some friends to vote, and check back next week for the winner.

For me, it's not how much I liked M. Bison, it's how little I liked Shang Tsung. I vote M. Bison as well.

I can't play M. Bison worth a crap anymore. I used to have the timing down for every punch, kick and special move. Now I switch to him(and Chun Li) after my opponent refuses to even play with me anymore if I continue to use Guile or Ryu/Ken/Akuma.

Though sometimes I'll be a dick and pick Blanka and not even use any special moves. The reach of his crouch punch and sweep combined with the reach and angle of his jump kick can make the "average" SF/Capcom fighter weep(used correctly of course).

BTW I pick Bison. And wish the jackasses at my work knew how to play better. (We have a Capcom Vs. SNK arcade matchine in the breakroom)

I gotta give my vote to shang tsung. The guy can just take Bisons soul and BE bison. Bison is only one man. Shang tsung is both if he wants to be. Therefore. He wins.

I vote for M. Bison, when was the last time you beat Street Fighter 2? I beat it last week, I got to Bison no problem butt then it was like holy F*ck I can't even touch this guy!

see bleep gets it. and shangtsung is much better represented in his movie than M bison was in street fighter. Im sorry but Raul julia was terribly miscast. Gomez adams, and M.Bison cant be played by the same person.

Also @ vinnchan.. It doesnt matter how many souls Bison has. Tsung undoubtedly has more. They even make up a green pillar in an underground palace of sorts. So no.. Shangtsung still owns M.Bison.

In regular.

The slide sweep is teh money.

If you block that slide sweep you can do a two hit(minimum) combo.

Guile = med punch sonic boom combo (follow with big sweep or backhand punch)

Ryu = big punch fireball(then walk up and do med sweep fireball combo)

Ken = big punch FUCKER combo(That's a 3 hit combo)

Regular SF2 is easy cheese. Just make everything a combo. AI doesn't know what to do.

If it's a charge character, always be charging. ALWAYS BE CHARGING(Always) and follow medium attacks with charged attacks as a combo.

If it's a sweep motion character, always follow every medium attack with a special move.

These suggestions will beat the comp every time.

Once you have that down, you need talented people to play against in order to improve.


I have never met a Capcom arcade game that had an SFII character that I could not beat with a single quarter.

Well it's lookin like Shang Tsung has already lost but I'm voting for him anyway. It's looking like street fighter is walking away with every victory so far in these match ups (unless I'm forgetting something, am I forgetting something?). I agree street fighter is a better series by far but really... honestly guys. He can steal your soul! He could turn into any kick ass guy.

Then again... I guess we can't credit him for any of the specifically kick ass souls he has (kung lao, anyone?) because this isn't about kung lao. Still, he'd win the fight. I encourage you all to apologize and change your votes.

I gotta go with Bison. The guy's consistently a boss character, where after the first game Shang was bumped down to craptacular status as a readily selectable character, who, might I add, played dancing monkey to more powerful bosses like Shao Khan.

I like Shang Tsung well enough, I really do, and were I in a slightly different mood than the one I am in right now I'd probably vote for him, futile though it would be at this point, but...

I gotta give this one to Bison. I don't like the character all that much, at least compared to most of the other Street Fighter characters, but still I have to give it to him, if only because he was played pretty much to perfection by Raul Julia in what was otherwise the abysmal live action movie.
