Last week's debate was a racing showdown between the sleek and smooth driving of the Gran Turismo games, versus the rough and rambunctious streets of the Twisted Metal series. Here are the results:
- Twisted Metal series: 47 votes -- winner!
- Gran Turismo series: 15 votes
We can't declare Twisted Metal the king of the roads just yet though. This week's racing rivalry is between the back-to-back Grand Theft Auto games that changed the genre forever. With as little emphasis on racing as possible, this week's debate is all about which form of violence you prefered. Was G.T.A. III's Sopranos styled mafia missions more than enough to keep your PS2 warm all year round? Or were you more impressed with the sin sprees that the Scarface styled Grand Theft Auto: Vice City had to offer?
Which do you think is the better game, and why? Give us a reason for your decision, get some friends to give their opinions as well, and check back next week for the winner.

My vote: GTA III.
GTA III lacked the soundtrack, the celebrity voices, and the parody elements that have made every great GTA game worth playing.
GTA III may have started the whole "crime game" craze, but Vice City made it pop culture hit.
Vice City for wins.
But having to make a decision between the two Im going with Vice City simply because it has better Voice Acting!
Pros:
-80s music
-cocaine (smack whatever)
-motorcycles and helicopters
-scarface references left and right
-MOAR weapons
Cons:
-80s music
-couldn't swim and water more plentiful than in GTAIII
GTAIII
Pros:
-Gritty city environment
-soundtrack
-first of its nature
Cons:
-aiming
-no motorcycles
-no scarface references
the CLEAR winner is GTA:VC.
Please don't take this as a well constructed, point-counter-point argument. I just had a little time and felt like making dem lists.
GTA3 + 80's = Vice City = WINNER
Nothing beats cruising down the strip at sunset in your Diablo with "Mister Mister" blaring from the radio.
So 80's!
My vote goes to GTA III I think, even though I could give numerous bullet points why GTA Vice City was better.
I think all the GTA series just evolve every new game.
Hell YES.
Vice City was HORRIBLE. I actually returned it after getting 75% of the way through the game, I didn't enjoy it at all. It had a lot of problems in my opinion. I loved GTAIII and San Andreas was pretty good.
Therefore
Vice City > GTA III
Vice City's vigilante mission style wasn't as great because it became a tiered system and their cities looked amazing but didn't have the same fun factor once we finished the game.
MOAR MOTORCYCLES!
but if this was between vc and sa, sa would win because...
MOAR BICYCLES!
VICE CITY
It comes down to one simple statement from me: When I waited to complete a mission simply to finish listening to the song playing on the radio, you knew you had a hit soundtrack. Even the commercials were nop notch and hilarious.
Also note Vice City Stories was an excellent sequel adding a lot of new things as well that the original overlooked, such as territory wars, the ability to SWIM, and mark your map.
i'd pop my rear tires in a rear wheel drive car and see what i can do with that handling :)
second feature i loved: GET TO ZE CHOPPPA. picking up money from my business investments in a chopper was one of my favourite pass times in that game.
pros:
Tommy Vercetti - awesome lead guy
great cast of support characters, makes the world more lively than in GTA III
Scarface reference
colorful and beautiful 80's miami atmosphere
more coherent story than GTA III
motor bikes!!!
Boats!!
Golf course.......
Cons:
no swimming :(
the map is too small
GTA III:
pros:
Big map (compared to VC)
the first 3D GTA!!
Great talk radio stations
cons:
the atmosphere is too gritty, less enjoyable to cruise while not in mission
passable music
story is too simplistic
no motor bikes :(
