Game Debate to the Death!<br>Best Super Smash Bros. N64 multiplayer level? photo

Last week's debate was a nostalgic nightmare that was about as heated as the current Presidential candidate debates. For a week straight we heatedly argued over which was the best multiplayer level for the Nintendo 64 FPS game that devoured many of our childhood Summers. Here I am thinking that the only three GoldenEye 007 level candidates that stood a chance were Facility Clinton, Library Obama, and John McComplex, with a slight Temple Nader possibility on the side. Then I had my childhood destroyed when I found out that only my city was obsessed with the Library, and that I was actually voting for a hopeless Kucinich level. Here are the top results that made me cry and feel violated:

  • 1st: Facility (111 votes)
  • 2nd: Complex (75 votes)
  • 3rd: Temple (40 votes)
  • 4th: Stack (21 votes)
  • 5th: Bunker (12 votes)
  • 6th: Library (7 points)
  • 7th: Caverns (6 votes)

I've voted for a losing poll option in plenty of these debates in the past, but I've never been as shocked as I was last week. It's a terrible feeling when one of your favorite levels of all time almost gets beaten by the number of "random level" votes. Those of you who voted for Stack -- are you sure you weren't thinking of the very similar Library level? Nevertheless, it's another week, and time for another ruthless debate.

This week's discussion is over which Super Smash Bros. 64 multiplayer level was your favorite. Keep in mind that this is not a debate about Melee, which will most likely be next week's debate. Which level was your favorite, and why? Give it some serious thought, cast your vote and reasons, get some friends to share their opinions as well, and check back next week for the winner.

Bonus: Since we already had a debate about who our favorite Smash Bros. characters were, let's take a step in a dangerous debate direction. Who will you vote for as the next U.S. president? Please stay civilized though.

I really want to go with Hyrule on this one.

It was always the middle ground that any one of us could agree on when we would argue over stages. We wouldn't dare choose "RANDOM" for fear of being stuck on that bullshit Mario level.. But then again, that god forsaken panic-hole was just fucking DANGER. Who the fuck knew there was a fucking MINE IN THERE??? And for that matter, who's game did those fucking mines originate from anyway??

I'm gonna have to go with my gut and say SAFFRON CITY takes my vote, and my heart.

Maybe it's just the nostalgia; remembering how Silph Co. were the ones who hooked a Bro. up with that Silph Scope. I was so fucking stoked when i first met a ghastly and beat the shit out of him. CRAP that reminds me, who else thought CUBONE was a fucking badass?

Sector Z because the letter Z owns. And it was the closest thing to a final destination-ish level. Saffron wasn't bad for 1 on 1's either.

BONUS: Obama cause Hilary's gonna start a war with 3rd world countries during her once a months.

1. Hyrule because it is balanced.
2. Close Second with Sector Z.
3. Saffron, although my friend with the electric rat always killed me on that stage.

Also, I'm drinking the Obama Kool-Aid. Mostly because McCain's kool-aid smells like old people and Clinton's is some scary witch brew that chills me to the bones.

Hyrule Castle and Obama.

Not because they're popular, but because I genuinely think they're the best.

Guys, in a simple political poll on a gaming site, there's no need to comment on each others' votes, especially not to deride them. As soon as we start calling each other out on politics, these comments will be headed for the shitter called flame wars. Argue about the levels, because games are what we're here for. As far as the election is concerned, name your choice and move along.

Also, fuck the randomness of those little twisters in Hyrule, and those RAMDOM ASS AR-WINGS in Sector Z. In a one on one SUDDEN DEATH battle, getting caught in any random spot by one of those damn hazards means DEATH and thats total bullshit.

Atleast if you get caught by PORYGON in Saffron it's because you're stupid and got caught next to the door and you deserve it.

@Pangloss

If you put the question there, you have to expect discussion. Healthy political discussion is always a good thing. The poll doesn't belong on a gaming blog to begin with, but that's why Dtoid is cool, it doesn't follow what's considered "normal". It's not as if the discussion has become a bunch of flames.

Kirby's Stage was pretty much id consider balance, except the fact it had the annoying wind blowing thing, but id pick that over hyrule any day, hyrule was just had the most cheesiest spots a tornyfag could use

I hate to be a sheep but it's got to be SAFFRON CITY! which trumps it's melee counterpart Fourside 6 ways! Although the pokemon coming out of the lift (damn blastoise) was almost as random as the hyrule castle tornado at least you knew where they would be coming from and it also forced some epic aerial battles

Sector Z, hyrule castle...

I loved the roomy runway, and, of course, a battle in fucking space on a fucking space ship being shot at by fucking ARwings?

Fuck yea!

My tops were always Sector Z, Hyrule Castle (big levels yay) and Dream Land (awesome musicings :D). Fave though? At a push, think its gotta be Hyrule.

And if I was one of these American types, think I'd go with Obama.

Hyrule castle. It was a simple level that was easy to see clearly in (unlike DK's level), low on obstacles and distractions (unlike Mushroom Kingdom), and plus there was this really cool bug in Practice mode where if you got Luigi to 999% damage in the enclosed area on the right, he would fly across the screen if he was hit again and he jumped.
