Game Debate to the Death! 11/21/06

Game Debate to the Death! 11/21/06 photo

Last week 's game debate put the Wii against the PS3, and Dtoid readers made their choice:

  • Nintendo Wii: 60 votes (Winner)
  • Sony PlayStation 3: 13 votes

There's no way I could read those Dtoid stats with a straight face -- the black behemoth bravado of the PS3 just got kicked in the electrojunk. It might not be the biggest landslide win we've seen in past game debates, but it's definitely one to mark in the books. I'm not sure what books exactly, I recommend doodling the outcome in random Waldenbooks novels on their last pages - maybe you could leave the PS3 vote outcome blank and give the story an unexpected cliffhanger ending

As promised, a good six months from now we'll give the poll another try and see how and if opinions change. Then, for Christmas 2007 we'll invite Xbox 360 to the family get together and let all three duke it out and hope we don't get any reports of incest when the egg nog fog clears. I also asked which launch game people wanted the most and here were the predictable top outcomes:

  • Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess -- 45 votes (winner)
  • Resistance: Fall of Man -- 6 votes

It's great to see Nintendo fans so alive again, even if it's in enough spoonfuls to make even Mary Poppins overdose. But now that we all have a PS3 or Wii, or soon will, we all agree to just get along and move on and STFUAJPG in peace -- right? Right?! For this week's game debate we have every Roller Coaster Tycoon game ever made versus every Sim City game ever made. Consider the pros and cons of each side, list which of both series you liked the most, and then cast your vote for which series you like more. Tell your gamer friends to support their opinions too, and check back next week for the winners.

Yes, i realize Cliffhanger isn't even a book. My vote goes for Roller Coaster Tycoon - it's one of the games I used to look forward to playing when I got home from school.

Never really played Roller Coaster Tycoon and I havn't played Sim City in a long time. My vote will have to go to Sim City though. The original was the first non-educational PC game I ever played, so it holds a bit of a nostolgic factor in my heart. Use to love playing that game back in the day.

Sim City better win by a landslide. It's not even close.

Sim City isn't my deal-e-o. You dig? Roller Coaster Tycoon let me kill people by "accidentally" not completing a roller coaster track. Plus, they really nailed the whole vomiting thing

You know you've linked to Railroad Tycoon and not Roller Coaster Tycoon...

I'll say Roller Coaster Tycoon, the first and second games I really enjoyed back when I used Windows for computing. I never really enjoyed any of the Sim City games, they were a little too complicated for me, RCT never seemed too complicated.

I was a Sim City person, so I'll have to stick with that.

I always sucked at Sim City and I've never played Roller Coaster Tycoon. So my vote goes to Sim Ant, which was the best yellow ant simulator ever created.

The original Roller Coaster Tycoon was fun, but I could never really "win" at it and I got bored of it real quickly. I never really understood the stuff that went on in Sim City, but I could still play it for hours on end. Setting off the emergency alarm provided so much entertainment. UFO invasions, anyone?
Out of the two, I vote for Sim City. However, Sim Earth beats everything. I think I still have the floppy disk for that somewhere.

OMG Dexter. I almost forgot about SimAnt. That game was the bomb. With SimTower as a close second best "Sims" game. Both were better than any of the SimCity games IMO.
