Game Crazy having clearance sales this weekend photo

As we told you last night, over 200 hundred Game Crazy stores are to be closed by the end of October. With closers always come some deep discounted sales! Except, in the case of Game Crazy, the sales might not be that great. The locations that are closing down are going to be redistributing their major products such as consoles, first party accessories and a “majority” of games released this year to other stores still open. Sources close to Joystiq have said that the closing stores won’t have much in stock when the sale starts.

  • 10/3-10/11: 30% off everything in the store
  • 10/12-10/18: 50% off everything in the store
  • 10/19-Closing: 80% off everything in the store

Joystiq is on a mission to find out on a full list of the closing stores and to find out what’s happening with people that have pre-orders with these stores. It doesn’t help that Game Crazy isn’t saying anything on the matter.

Some of us will be hitting up our local Game Crazys to see what's up too. If any of you go to a Game Crazy, let us know what you find out.

[Update: We've heard from one store that stores that are remaining open will be will be funnelling low-demand product through them, so they're treating this both as a liquidation of stores as well as holiday preparation.]

There are no GCs in Miami;

Store Locator: There were no GameCrazy stores within 50 miles of your location

THis is so bizarre. At our local mall there are two GameCrazies! One just opened.

I hate hearing about more people losing jobs.

That said too bad they couldn't convienently plan this so I could save on Brutal Legend or DJ Hero.

I happen to manage a Gamecrazy out here in Arizona. And I will say this about customers with preorders.

Anyone with cash or credit down on a game should be receiving a call from our corporate office to make them aware of the changes taking place and they will transfer their order to another location, so they won't have to worry about not getting a title.

Also, we're going to make sure that we personally take care of people with hot items like the Prestige Edition CODMW2 or DJ Hero preordered.

Making sure that our customers still get their games was one of our top concerns as managers when we heard about this. Even though my store isn't closing, I was worried about my neighboring stores and their customers, because I'm a gamer just like them.

Loki sounds like the best manager of a game crazy store I've ever met. So helpful he is. Too bad I don't live near your store.

I just called the GameCrazy near me in Gilbert, AZ(Phoenix). They said that store and all the stores in the EAST VALLEY are closing. Only one is remaining open. NUTS!!! They are putting all my preorders on a gift card to take to the other store. YIKES!!! I may have to start using Best Buy or the icky Gamestop to pre order. Man this sucks I hate GameStop.

@Loki

I have to say that I have always liked the employees and ESPECIALLY the managers at GameCrazy, very personal and helpful. This sucks, I hate Gamestop.

What about MVP credits?

Again I hate this.

The only one staying open in the East Valley of PHX is Ray and Alma School. Not exactly close to me.

So apparently in AZ 30 out of the 36 GameCrazy's are closing including the one I used to work at. Crazy stuff.

I'd like to think I do okay and that's why I've been around some time, heh. So thanks.

@TheJesusNinja26
I know. I feel really bad about the southern district out here. They got hit hard and only have a couple of stores left, so going to another location may not be an option for some people. It really sucks not having that choice. It's terrible for our employees and the customers alike.

Oh and I know it isn't close, but your MVP is still good anywhere and the Alma School store might not be too close, but they rock there. And for the record, AZ is not going to have 6 stores. It's actually 9.

@Loki & @MasterFooz

I'm sorry guys, I've always bought my games at GameCrazy, one of their best customers, even in ASYLUM. I hope you guys can find work quickly somewhere. If you live in the Tempe area, let me know. I work at a consumer electronics sales company. Starting pay is around $20k a year. If you are interested let me know. We are actually hiring 200 people between now and Dec. email me if you want more details.

Well it's good to hear that GC took care of you. As far as employment goes, my store is unaffected and it's business as usual. I appreciate the info though and I'll pass it on to some of my peers. Thanks.

Man, I hope my GameCrazy doesn't go down. It's kinda selfish, I know, but I've got my DSi on warranty there, Modern Warfare 2 preordered there, the second closest one looks to be over an hour away...

On the other hand, cheap games are always nice.

While the customer service at GC is LOLworthy, its only five minutes from my house.
