As we told you last night, over 200 hundred Game Crazy stores are to be closed by the end of October. With closers always come some deep discounted sales! Except, in the case of Game Crazy, the sales might not be that great. The locations that are closing down are going to be redistributing their major products such as consoles, first party accessories and a “majority” of games released this year to other stores still open. Sources close to Joystiq have said that the closing stores won’t have much in stock when the sale starts.
- 10/3-10/11: 30% off everything in the store
- 10/12-10/18: 50% off everything in the store
- 10/19-Closing: 80% off everything in the store
Joystiq is on a mission to find out on a full list of the closing stores and to find out what’s happening with people that have pre-orders with these stores. It doesn’t help that Game Crazy isn’t saying anything on the matter.
Some of us will be hitting up our local Game Crazys to see what's up too. If any of you go to a Game Crazy, let us know what you find out.
[Update: We've heard from one store that stores that are remaining open will be will be funnelling low-demand product through them, so they're treating this both as a liquidation of stores as well as holiday preparation.]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Store Locator: There were no GameCrazy stores within 50 miles of your location
That said too bad they couldn't convienently plan this so I could save on Brutal Legend or DJ Hero.
Anyone with cash or credit down on a game should be receiving a call from our corporate office to make them aware of the changes taking place and they will transfer their order to another location, so they won't have to worry about not getting a title.
Also, we're going to make sure that we personally take care of people with hot items like the Prestige Edition CODMW2 or DJ Hero preordered.
Making sure that our customers still get their games was one of our top concerns as managers when we heard about this. Even though my store isn't closing, I was worried about my neighboring stores and their customers, because I'm a gamer just like them.
I have to say that I have always liked the employees and ESPECIALLY the managers at GameCrazy, very personal and helpful. This sucks, I hate Gamestop.
What about MVP credits?
Again I hate this.
The only one staying open in the East Valley of PHX is Ray and Alma School. Not exactly close to me.
I'd like to think I do okay and that's why I've been around some time, heh. So thanks.

I know. I feel really bad about the southern district out here. They got hit hard and only have a couple of stores left, so going to another location may not be an option for some people. It really sucks not having that choice. It's terrible for our employees and the customers alike.
I'm sorry guys, I've always bought my games at GameCrazy, one of their best customers, even in ASYLUM. I hope you guys can find work quickly somewhere. If you live in the Tempe area, let me know. I work at a consumer electronics sales company. Starting pay is around $20k a year. If you are interested let me know. We are actually hiring 200 people between now and Dec. email me if you want more details.

I've always been taken care of big time at GameCrazy, so maybe I can give back in some way.
On the other hand, cheap games are always nice.
