Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

When we first got the tip on this, I thought it was going to be another horrible piece of filth just like all of the other gaming movies to have come out. I was right. But even though I was right, I still want to actually watch the movie! Game Box 1.0 came out in 2004 and unlike a majority of gaming movies Hollywood shoves down our throats, this one has an original plot related to gaming in general. Now that I think about it, this is basically a kids version of The Lawnmower Man
"Charlie Nash is an expert video game tester whose life has become unbearable after the tragic shooting of his girlfriend Kate.  Finding no comfort in his friends or in his job, Charlie loses himself in video games.  After receiving a mysterious test game in the mail, he immerses himself in it's amazingly realistic, 3D fantasy universe.  However, Charlie soon learns this virtual world is totally real as he's plunged into a perilous, life-and-death battle against the game from which there is little chance of escape—or survival—in this pulse-pounding, effects-packed, sci-fi thriller."
It has it all folks! Cheesy acting, horrible graphics, an ear splitting sound track, and Topenga too!

From the looks of it, the movie is going to be re-released in April. From the listed price however, this isn't going to sell so well. It's a shame really. I truly did want to subject myself to this and right up a review for Dtoid. I love Dtoid that much.

Thanks to Adam K. of Next Lust for the tip!

Photo Topanga is kinda on the chubby side eh? I'd still do her though.

Oh... my... god... is this serious? Tell me this is a joke... This is by far one of the worst examples of film making I have ever seen.

I really hope who ever green lighted this gets shot.

Based on the trailer alone I can say, in all honesty, this is my favorite movie of all time.

Right after Vampire Assassin, that is. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472278/)

I remember this movie. It was better when it had John Conner in it. Brain Scan. What a steaming pile of turd that was too. And how could a nerd land a girl like Topenga? NOT happening.

Lol, Niero just walks by in the helmet and gut punches the protagonist, shakes his finger at him, and then just walks off.

Hah, just you all wait. I laid waste to this film back in December. Wait till you see what I've pulled out. Mark my words, it induces joy and pain, mostly pain, and will make you realize that NO ONE has ever made a good video game movie.

Game Box 1.0 is the Return of the King of video game movies, IMO.

...the hell? Charlie Nash? Was that intentional? I can't decide whether it would be funnier if it were, or if it were not.

This movie seems like it would be a freakish mishmash of the worst aspects of Tron, Matrix, .hack//SIGN, and Mega64, among others.

In other words, I simply must see this movie now.

Too many guns(and people getting shot with them) to be a kids movie. I think they actually meant this for grown ups. That was some godawful fucking cinematography...

...but I'd still watch it.
