When we first got the tip on this, I thought it was going to be another horrible piece of filth just like all of the other
gaming movies to have come out. I was right. But even though I was right, I still want to actually watch the movie!
Game Box 1.0 came out in 2004 and unlike a majority of gaming movies Hollywood
shoves down our throats, this one has an original plot related to gaming in general. Now that I think about it, this is basically a kids version of
The Lawnmower Man:
"Charlie Nash is an expert video game tester whose life has become unbearable after the tragic shooting of his girlfriend Kate. Finding no comfort in his friends or in his job, Charlie loses himself in video games. After receiving a mysterious test game in the mail, he immerses himself in it's amazingly realistic, 3D fantasy universe. However, Charlie soon learns this virtual world is totally real as he's plunged into a perilous, life-and-death battle against the game from which there is little chance of escape—or survival—in this pulse-pounding, effects-packed, sci-fi thriller."
It has it all folks! Cheesy acting, horrible graphics, an ear splitting sound track, and
Topenga too!
From the looks of it, the movie is going to be
re-released in April. From the listed price however, this isn't going to sell so well. It's a shame really. I truly did want to subject myself to this and right up a review for Dtoid. I love Dtoid that much.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I really hope who ever green lighted this gets shot.
Right after Vampire Assassin, that is. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472278/)
The crew obviously doesn´t play videogames. They think old arcade graphics are the latest
or maybe it's the video quality... naaah
And edit in a cameo by Destructoid.
Or atleast, shot by a bunch of twelve year olds.
Game Box 1.0 is the Return of the King of video game movies, IMO.
...but I'd still watch it.
WHEN THIS BOY MEEEEEETS WORLD
