Gallery: New localized SimCity DS images photo

The last batch of SimCity DS images we posted were from Japan, which featured a tranny-looking ganguro girl among other oddities. Today we get a whole new look at what the game will be like stateside: The menus have been fully translated, urban area gameplay is shown, and the characters seem to have been replaced by bookish Arians with no necks. Hopefully "Professor Simtown" doesn't replace Will Wright in the game, as previously shown. We love that guy.

Above all, these new photos show how incredibly useful and ideal the split-screen design of the DS enhances the usability of the once-buried menus. You can monitor your live city up top and flip through touch-sensitive menus at the bottom without ever losing your eye on the action, whether its to watch Godzilla eat your Level-5 commercial investments or patching the occassional brownout. I can't say that I've thoroughly enjoyed a SimCity game since the SNES version (due to the incredible complexity and realism of the latter titles), so I can't wait to try this one. Sadly, it looks like Will Wright has been replaced by that generic blond. She's standing in his place, and even has somewhat similar poses. I could be wrong though, and with any luck, maybe he'll be an unlockable advisor.

I will say that Professor Simtown may actually have Square-Enix beat as far as large heads go.

Think EA would listen if we said we wanted Will?

I'll see if we can get some info from a press person or EA rep to see if he's been completely replaced or if he's unlockable, etc. Maybe there are different advisors (I hope!)

Yeah, I can't take city advice from someone with twizzlers for glasses. Give me an animated chain-smoking Will Wright!

I can't wait for this game. As soon as Pokemon Diamond and Pearl wear off, I'll have this to pick up. The DS never stops.

Is it possible to wear out a DS? If they got transport tycoon as well as sin city Id be doomed.
