Gallery: Here's the E3 grounds and lobby before the chaos

The calm before the storm

The E3 show floor doesn't open until Tuesday, so until then we can only imagine what's inside from the rumors we've been following and posters littered around the Los Angeles Convention Center. The expo build-out is currently underway, with giant wooden crates stamped "Xbox" and "Microsoft" on the west side and Nintendo hauling things on the east. Giant posters of Batman, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, Dying Light, World of Tanks, Disney Infinity, and Plants vs. Zombies 2, and The Elder Scrolls dominate the exterior of the building with more to come.

On the way out I caught a glimpse of Reggie, Miyamoto, and Iwata strolling in with a pack of unknown nerds paying an accidental homage to Resevoir Dogs, but otherwise security is quick to eject you into the parking lot with a smile and a pat on the head. Arf!

I wonder if Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (pictured above) might be a mini-game in the upcoming sequel, or if it's just poking some fun at CoD. What do you think? Or maybe it's an actual new entry to the franchise, given the ESRB rating icons. Could this be the rumored Plants vs. Zombies FPS we heard about last year?
