I agree that it seems weird, especially when there was no confirmed date, but it proves to me that at least it’s not on-disk DLC or something. The deal itself (pre-order and get a decent chunk of extra content) seems pretty reasonable too, in fact I hope this becomes the trend rather than day one DLC.

Don't get me wrong, going to love this game, pre-ordered in on Steam the day it went live with a store page, but holding back a character almost a full month in a naked attempt to give people another reason to delay selling back the game and jin up preorders is pretty sad.
The mechromancer looks to be the coolest character in the game, in terms of being hyper unique.
My only problem with it was rather than working out a unique balance they seem to be gearing it towards cheat mode.

Well Scooter did seem to be mechanically inclined, so I guess its plausible that Gaige could be Scooters sister which would make her Roxxies daughter. So she well could be a young Roxxie ^.^

Some of these practices annoy me (like the "free dlc only if you preorder" bit). But honestly... I am so sure this game is going to be great, and so planning on buying every last damn thing related to it, that it's functionally irrelevant for me.

The first game used GameSpy, which is total sh*t. BL2 is Steamworks, so I'm thinking the multiplayer will be much easier to deal with. They even have some way to deal with the leveling system, I believe. (ie joining a game with someone more than a couple levels higher/lower)

Pre-Ordered the game and have no regrets about it. However I tend to be leaning towards GOTY or at least a Steam sale to pick up the remaining DLC. Of which there are apparently four expansions planned.

@jinx 01 steamwork gives pirates a lot worse multiplayer experience than steamwork so its not everyone who benefits from it, not that I didn't preorder it but still. Also never had any connection issues in the first game just no loot sharing at all.
Man, I'm glad to hear everyone here is going for all the typical classes that the average gamer gravitates to (The ninja and commando! So coooooooooool!!!11!) because it makes me feel a lot better about planning to roll with Salvador. Turrets and swords? Psh, a man only needs his trusty gun at his side. And his second gun. And his other gun. And that fourth gun that does that really cool thing. Really, he just needs all four of them firing nigh-simultaneously.

I hope it's totally unplayable for pirates in multi. There isn't much excuse to pirate any more, I'm sorry... even if you're poor, games on PC get so cheap so fast a person can just suck it down and wait. Or play year-old games that are on sale for $5 instead of $50.

@jinx popular games will always be multi for pirates, even if they just use seperate cracked stuff, always happens, I was saying this because I still pirated on pc when I first played borderlands, bettered my life since and now I generally just wait for sales unless I really want the game like with borderlands 2.

are you mental, have you not followed this game at all? they announced it would be a free additional class to anyone who preordered. then they publicly announced when they game went gold, and that the first thing they were doing was getting to work on the extra class, which if you remember was said to be coming out 60-90 DAYS after launch, that's up to 3 months. Now we're getting it less than 4 weeks after launch and you're saying they're holding it back to get people to pre-order? yeah man, that's why im pre-ordering, not all the other extra they're giving you, or the fact that this game will melt your face off.

Probably play either Commando with defensive tree or Siren with healing tree. Prefer to play a support class or someone with defensive capabilities in mind.

I was thinking about picking Zero but then I remembered I cant snipe for shit so I'll leave that to one of my friends and pick Maya instead.
Zero's Melee is ridiculous! I can't help but wonder if he is going to be made of paper,though. Might be a way to balance that. As for gaige, I pre-ordered, so I'll get her. Though, I won't care much about her until I have a skill tree to screw around with.
